Craigslist - Destiny City BICYCLE HELP NEEDED!One well-used men's bike desperately needing some TLC from someone that knows what they're doing: I have no idea what's wrong with it but the chain's messed up and I can't get it to work. It's my main mode of transporation, so I really need to get it fixed. I'm trying to appeal to the kinder souls of Destiny City via CL b/c I'm a student on a budget (aren't we all?) and am hoping to work something out to get the work done. I don't have a lot of money to pay with, but I'd rather get someone local than send it off to be fixed and the bike shop near DCU wanted $100.00 + parts and they were going to take two weeks to get to it! email, call or text if you're interested! E: c.hargrove@gmail.com P: 846-5525 Colin sighed and checked over his post one last time before he released it onto the world wide web. He hoped that some kindly soul would take him up on his offer and get back to him pretty quickly: he hadn't lied when he'd said that it was his main mode of transport (of course, he could always walk or jog...but sometimes he just wanted to out on his bike!) Either way, the post was out there and all he could do now was wait and hope that he'd get a 'nibble' before two weeks was up - and that said nibble would be able to fix his bike for less than the $100.00 Glenn's Cycle Shop wanted to charge him on top of any parts needed.

Sorrin didn't often troll Creigslist but ever once in a blue moon he found an odd job or a sweet deal that he couldn't pass up. Today would just happen to be one of those days. Like Colin he had his own share of bike problems, but where Colin would look for someone else to help him, he did his own repairs. Even as he headed to the garage he started punching the number into his phone.
Almost an hour after it was posted his phone would buzz and light up with a text.Gio Hello hear you need some bike help? Send a list of parts and an address. I can be there today possibly. With that he flipped his phone shut before rummaging through draws and old milk crates tossing chains, gears, and other random parts about into piles of 'possibly' and 'too busted for even me to use.'
Looks like I'll be making a little pocket change today, he mused to himself.

When his cell phone lit-up and began vibrating with the arrival of a text message, Colin tripped and nearly fell on his face. He'd been practicing one of his dance routines and the buzzing-thrumming sound broke his concentration and sent him stumbling; he didn't crash though, he had the grace of a dancer and was able to save himself from falling like an ungraceful lout. "s**t...way to go, grace." The blond muttered under his breath as he picked up a towel to wipe the sweat from his face and neck and his phone. "Oh, awesome!" There was an answer to his Craig's List ad! He texted the person back with his name and location - Hillworth Grammar School, yadda yadda - and a short note of thanks in a second text (since his address took up the length limit). Colin That sounds great, thnks so much. The blond checked the time and figured that he had time for a quick shower before he had to return to the school to meet the Craig's List Bike Repair Guy - as he was calling Sorrin in his head.

He paused only a moment in gathering his stuff to poke his phone again, it was a rather ungraceful act, he took the phone in his hand but rather then use grease covered fingers he swiped the auto lock on the droid with his nose. He took a moment to read over the information nodding, Hillwroth wasn't far, but Coli was right; he would have time for a shower.
Only ten minutes later was Sorrin's backpack filled, along with two smaller bags on the sides and he was off, it was a decent ride to Hillworth, and along the way he poked out another message, granted it was far less proper considering he was swerving around on a bike texting with one hand.Sorrin On my way 2 u be thr in 25/30?

The second message that came across wouldn't get any attention from the curly-haired student until Sorrin was nearly at Hillworth. But he did respond, just a quick "Cool. C U then." as he threw on jeans and a t-shirt. There were a few things he wanted to get cleaned up and ready before Sorrin got there - plus, he had to drag the broken bike out to the commons so that it could be worked on - it had been chained to the bike rack until that point.
When Sorrin arrived, Colin would be waiting for him, curly hair dark but drying as he sat out, messing with his cell phone.

When Sorrin arrived Collin would quickly notice the boy was sporting a Sovereign Heights hoodie, his own bike looked just as well worn as Collin's but the closer one looked the more they would realize some parts where newer then others, or didn't match at all. The bike as a canabalizim of work to keep functioning but it worked well enough.
"Collin right?" He waved to the boy, "Sorrin, so I guess I'm here to fix..." He paused looking at bike, "That bike..." He frowned at once, "One gear rusted, chain looks messed up but at least you have breaks still it seems." He tsked, "The hell did you do to the poor bike? She weeps I say, weeps with sorrow at her condition."

Colin watched a youth with two-toned hair approaching on a bike, laden with bags, and thought to himself "I wonder if that's the guy from Craig's List. A cadet blue Sovereign Heights hoodie identified a student - that did turn out to be the Bike Doctor: he stopped in front of Colin and said hello.
"Yep, Colin Hargrove. Thanks for coming by so quick - not being able to bike around has been such a pain in the a**." He grinned a little bit and laughed at Sorrin's obvious distress in regard to the current condition of his ride. "I know, it's bad..she's been back at home with mom, in storage until recently. She left the poor thing out in the rain, you shoulda seen the bike before I started cleaning her."
Colin gave the other boy an apologetic grin. "What do you think...can you help her?"

"Not a problem, I could use the cash and I had nothing to do today." He started unpacking a bit, pulling out a few gears compare the size to make sure he got the right one for the bike, he tossed a few down and bounced between two as they talked. "Sorrin Giovani, pleasure." He finally settled on a gear tapping his chin with his free hand. "Trust me I know the pain, I've had my share of days without a bike." He gestured behind him at the patchwork of a bike.
"Yeah the rain did a number on this, probably got dripped on a bit while in storage judging how bad it is by the pedals." He reached into another bag pulling out ratchets and pliers starting to work on getting the rusted gear free.
"I'm giving her all I've got Colin, I'm a college student, not a bike doctor." He said with a grin.

"Oh, speaking of...now that you've seen her, what do you think it'll cost. I mean, we should probably figure that out before you get working on it. I'd hate for you to get working and me not be able to compensate..." Colin rubbed at the back of his head, curly hair still damp.
He appreciated the 'Trek joke Sorrin made and thought about responding in Klingon, but then kept his mouth shut. Lots of people knew one or three lines from the show, but very few knew as much as he did. He was a major Trekkie...but kept that on the down low because he didn't want people to jerk his leg about it all the time.
"Parts, of course...and then labor, of course." He wasn't a cheap b*****d, he just...was a high school student on a budget that really needed help getting his bike back into operational order.

"Well lets say fifty?" He tugged gently removing the pedals and finally getting at the gear properly now. "Most of the parts are spares from my own tinkering, I get them from junk shops and around yard sales when I strip old bikes down. So it's mostly labor cost, and then like, ten for my next junkyard run." Finally the rusted gear popped off, "Towel please?" He gestured back to the bag, "Never good to go without one when doing this kind of work."
He would not have responded in Klingon but he would have gotten a good chuckle out of it, he had watched a fair bit while working in the garage, and he was rather fond of the re-release. Though he was proud to say with his recent 'Space Adventures' that space was not quiet as bloom and lens flare filled thank goodness.
"I don't think that's too much to ask is it?" He wasn't against haggling but fifty would cover a movie and some milkshakes sometime in the future.

"Fifty's totally fair man, that's totally cool with me." He grinned and crouched down next to Sorrin; he was quite interested in what was going on with his bike - so he wasn't precisely mechanically inclined, it was still damned interesting!
"Sure." Colin got up and went back to the bag that was indicated; he picked up the towel and brought it back to Sorrin. "Not at all - as long as you don't mind my watching you. I find it fascinating."

Splendid! Now he could treat Eve or Serenade out on a bad day. Either that or save it for rainy day funds of his own for patrol. Nothing sucked more then a slow night with nothing to do or a milkshake to drink.
"Feel free to, we actually have room to work out here." He took the offered rag and started to wipe down grim and build up from the bike it's self before wiggling the new gear part way before popping it off again; he paused pointing to the bag, "Oil please?"
He continued to clean around the gear a bit while he waited on the oil, but didn't pause in conversation, "You know working on this is a really nice change of pace from dealing with a car. At least a bike it's only a few simple pieces, a gear here, one there, chain between them and pedals to fuel it." He huffed, "Damn cars have gas lines, engines, electrical... almost not worth the trouble."

"Awesome" Beyond the non-working part(s) of the bike, it would be obvious that at one point the damned bike had been well cared for (there wasn't a huge amount of rust on it or anything, and Sorrin would probably be able to touch some grease left over from the last time Colin had 'serviced it'.
They settled in amiably and when Sorrin required oil or something, Colin was prepped and ready to get it. Some of the items were unfamiliar to him (Colin wasn't mechanically inclined at all, really) but he would catch on quick and even offer to help work on it.
"Yeah? I'm totally lost when it comes to cars or bikes, so I admire that you can actually do something like this. Seeing how you're working on my bike, I can only imagine what it must be like to work on a car." He shook his head slowly, then tilted it to the side thoughtfully, "Do you at least get paid well for working on cars and stuff?"

The work was quick it wasn't a lot at all really. The oil went on the gear was slipped in and the bike chain was slowly worked over thread after thread on the gear carefully.
"It's a hobby really, I like to fix things and tinker with them. My garage is like my own little playground back home." He continued to wiggle the chain about checking to make sure the track it was on matched the gear setting on the bike before tugging more.
"Don't do cars for others, personal project my friend." He wiggled the chain a bit more cursing quietly as he tried to get the farthest points, he wiggled the pedal rolling the gear and chain slightly trying to get some slack to work with.
"A 67 Chevy Impala black just like in that show Supernatural. The paint job was easy, the internal parts? Shot to hell and back and taking forever to fix and replace."Syrie Sorry it took so long Poof <333

Colin's bike made a slow, steady clacking sound as Sorrin worked the pedal; moving the gear and chain carefully to make sure it was settled and working properly. Green eyes followed his hands as the curly-haired blond tried to absorb some of what was being done to his bike. Slack in the chain was needed, but it was a very careful balance or the gears wouldn't turn and the bike wouldn't move forward properly. "Heh, I actually know a little about that show...my sister, Miriam, loves it. She moons after the younger brother or something like that." So he kind of knew visually what a 67 Chevy Impala looked like instead of his usual complete and utter lack of familiarity with vehicular transports. "I guess doing odd jobs and tinkering really helps pay for those parts. I know engine parts can't be cheap." Miliardo Kason Talk about sorry for taking so long ^^;;;
