After getting killed early on in the past mission, Deryk was trying to think of ways to improve his performance for the next time. Perhaps some extra battle experience would help him out. Because really, while Tooley helped him, he really had no fighting experience prior to his trial. He had been a hacker. Someone who didn't have to move around too much, generally speaking.
Well, he did try to exercise and all, but still.
So for now, he had wandered over to the training ground, looking to maybe practice against some of the training dummies. Or maybe someone else, should there be another trainee available to spar with.

Robert had been wrapping his fists when Deryk walked in, but he initially remained quiet. He didn't recognize the face, which was becoming commonplace nowadays - but once the man came closer, Robert looked up and gave him a quick, friendly nod.
"Hey." He murmured in greeting.

It looked like the training grounds were mostly empty. However, he did notice one other trainee around. Well, perhaps he could get in a session against him. If not, that was fine. With a grin, he waved and paused as the other spoke. The face he didn't really recall, but he did recognize the voice.
He felt like he spoke to him before. Possibly during the last mission?
"Oh hey. Hm. Have we met before? Like. During golem mission or something? Voice sounds familiar."

Robert recognized his voice, if only because he hadn't met enough people lately to be confused.
"Yeah, Deryk, right?" He held his hand up and out. "I'm Robert. We were just on that big mission together. Welcome to Deus, man."
He seemed relatively normal. Moreso than half the people Robert associated himself with, at least. Robert appreciated that - he could do with a dose of normalcy in his life right about now.

OH! That was why the voice sounded familiar. This was the broody fallen angel he had run into. It looked like Robert was in a much lighter mood right now than when he had first met him.
"Yep! That's me. You were the fallen angel right? Nice to meet you outside of the golem," he nodded "You here for some training too? Was hoping to maybe find someone to spar. Died too early last mission. Want to improve. Perhaps improve personal performance. Don't want to end up useless. You know?"

"I do." Robert knew that feeling all too well. He stood up, tucking in the wraps in his hands, and took the coin out of his pocket. "I'm happy to spar with you. No holding back, though. Fight to the end, just like out there. All right?"
He flipped the coin off of his thumb, and as it flew it elongated into the batleth weapon. His hand gripped around the hilt, pulling it down from the air.

"Right. No holding back. All out brawl. Yes. Can do this," Deryk nodded while the leather bracelet thing on his wrist shifted into something more like a bracer. He recalled his fight against Ariane, where he had actually hesitated to finish things. The blonde was going to have to try and make sure he didn't make the same mistake.
"Alright. Let's do this. Come play with Deryk."

Robert didn't see a weapon on him, but he caught the bracer. That was.. a terrible weapon. A bracer? Was he just going to bash him over the head with his arm, over and over?
Robert almost felt sorry for the man.
"Yeah, uh.." He twirled his batleth idly in one arm in front of him. "How about you come at me, instead? I'll give you a free shot."

What was with that look? Oh right. Robert probably just thought his weapon was a bracer and nothing else. Well perhaps he could use this to his advantage. He already had a slight one, being offered the opening move. With a grin, he rushed forward at the other trainee.
Right now, he chose to not reveal the true nature of his weapon, so he swing his arm, aiming to smack the guy.
HP: 40/40

Yeah, Robert supposed the bracer was just a blunt force kind of weapon. Sucks to be Deryk. At least now he knew who was going to win this spar.. but Deryk needed experience dealing with things more dangerous than Robert, anyway.
Things like Jezebel.
The batleth came down on Deryk's side after Robert took his hit and retaliated with a blunt smack to the head using Jezebel's hilt.

Deryk saw the blade coming at him, but he was unable to avoid it. At least he managed to not get a huge cut as a result, but it was enough to draw a bit of blood in the very least. That was another thing he needed to get used to... pain.
"Ack!" he cried out before moving to try and slam his fist and arm into Robert's side.

He sucks.
Quiet, Jazzy. Robert defended Deryk against his pessimistic weapon, bringing down his batleth on the other side of the man's face in a similar attack as his first. It was always good to start out slow, and warm up with a few predictable hits, before laying into an opponent.
Unless that opponent was Candace. In which case, it was important to beat her into the ground.

This was after Deryk felt the batleth slice into him, a little more deeply this time. No. He was going to bide his time a little longer. Ducking down, he spun and swung at Robert's knee. It was almost time. HP: 32/40 Damage: 4 Charge: 3/3

Robert's leg bent as Deryk hit him, and his weapon swiveled around for another long, slicing arc. He felt Jezebel hum with excitement, and grinned.
Mmmm. I want to make him scream.
Robert blinked, just a little distracted - he'd never heard Jezebel get excited like that before. It was. A little disturbing.

Tooley's pleads were getting distracting. She wasn't shutting up about being released. After leaning back in a failed attempt to avoid a strike, he winced while feeling the other blade bite into him again. Then, as he lunged back for Robert, the bracer began to give off a green glow.
He punched out at the other trainee as the aura formed a sharp point in front of his fist, hoping to stab into him.
