Truth be told, Madison was worried about Robert - she had no idea what all that drama last mission had been about, and she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to know. Not after the fight they'd had before... or, well. The fight that she'd gotten them both into. Nope, right now Madison was a drama-free zone, or as much as it was possible to be what with Caelius and Dr. H and all still running the show. She was not going to ask. Nope. Not asking. So she was going to ask for something else instead. Madison padded down the hall and knocked on Robert's door, wondering if he was even in. Maybe he spent more time at Petra's? Either way, she was going to find him. Track him down, and get her answer - because as far as she knew, the older Phoenix was the only person who could help her right now.

Robert was not at his dorm, in fact.
THREAD OVER
He was at Petra's, and just as Madison knocked on his door, he was opening Petra's and walking out of it. He shrugged his coat back on, turned, and stopped at the sight of the girl standing in front of his door.
"Maddie!" He closed the door behind him, and gave her a crooked smile. "What brings you to me tonight, sweetheart?"
If someone didn't know any better, they would think Robert was just hopping from one girl to another, like a player. Luckily, Deus Ex was a very close knit community - everyone knew better.

"Oh, there you are," Madison said, relieved; she greeted Robert with a bright smile and a quick hug. "I, uh, needed your help with something, actually? If you don't mind. I promise it's nothing bad. And nothing stupid. I don't think?"
Okay, she was obviously still kind of nervous. The last time they'd really talked had been when they'd fought, after all.

When the hug came, one of Robert's arm wrapped around Madison and pulled her up against him, off her feet for a moment. When he settled her back down, his hand curved up under her chin, bending her head up to get a good look at her.
She was rambling. She only rambled when she was nervous - but what could she be nervous about?
"Anything for you, princess. What can I do you for?"

"I, um. Could you... show me how to move? I have Kouki, y'know, and he's lighter than a lot of other weapons, and I need to figure out how to move faster. To, like, get more nimble and stuff, and... you have, like. There's this way you move, I guess, um... not like football players even though you're a big guy? I've seen football players. Like, uh, intimatl-" Her mouth shut with a near-audible snap.
TOO MUCH INFORMATION.

Robert's face went from gentle and amused to downright uncomfortable when he realized what she was saying. He'd heard it all before, a million times. The curve of his back, the slope of his arabesque, the height and delicate smoothness of his battements, the perfect symmetry of his legs - he did not miss ballet. No matter how many times a man got complimented on his legs, it was just something he did not miss.
He'd rather move like a football player, if he had a choice.
"Yeah." He mumbled, completely missing her slip concerning her more intimate dealings with football players. "I know. It's just." He sighed, and looked left, then right, before pulling her inside his room and closing the door. He leaned his entire body against it, and took a steadying breath.
"Look, do me a favor and don't go telling anyone about this, but, I'm - I was a dancer. Like, broadway and s**t. And it's just - it's just not something I do anymore, but I guess it doesn't go away that easily because not only are you noticing it, apparently, but Jerry won't shut the ******** up about it and AUGH."
He grabbed his hair in his hands and pulled it all over his face.
"It's just not something I'm very proud of, in a place like this." He mumbled through his hair.

"Whoa!" Madison yelped as she was pulled forward through the doorway. She stumbled, then caught herself and turned, looking at him questioningly before he began to speak.
"I won't tell anybody, I promise..." she said, when he was done. "But, um. Why does... this place mean it's not something to be proud of? I think it's cool." She lifted her chin and looked at him, steadily. "Anyway, I used to be a stupid high school popularity b***h, which is actually, like, a bad thing. So."
"... Though, um, I'm not going to like. Be... all Jerry about it." She wasn't sure exactly what had gone on between the two men, but knowing Jerry she could imagine it.

"HAH. Well that's good. But it's just not my thing anymore. I don't wanna be known as that guy, I guess."
But from the past few days, it was starting to feel like it was an inevitability. Robert was definitely not winning over any fans playing the bully route, it seemed.
"Anyway, you want some tips on how to smooth out your swings, right? I can do that." He took her hand, and opened his door up again. "Let's go outside, all right?

"Oh. Sorry, I didn't mean to, like, make you uncomfortable or something... actual dancing? God, all I learned was like... you know. School dancing." She mimicked holding onto a guy in classic awkward high school fashion. Well, usually there'd be a little more in there, but like hell was she going to make out with the air. Ugh. "And that s**t is useless."
When he took her hand, she squeezed it and nodded. "Yeah. I guess I want to move better? And dodge things. And just... be quicker. Kouki can't stand up to heavy hard strikes, and I, like, don't have a lot of strength in my arms. Not like you or Jordan or anything. So I thought maybe... get out of the way, move around? Graceful and stuff. Hah." She kept pace with him.

"Grace is the most important weapon anyone can wield." Robert grunted, in a far-too-wise voice. "It's saved my a** for more than my strength has.
He'd led her outside, to a nice, quiet out of the way place, and let go of her hand.
"And princess, I think you've got a lot of grace locked up inside. If I can, I'll help you bring it out. Keep you safe. That's what's important to me."

"Thank you," Madison said, earnestly. "It means a lot, seriously - thank you, um. For trusting me even after everything... I said." She looked away for a moment. "I'm saving that stuff for the freaks from now on. They deserve it, you don't..."
Kouki's scabbards shimmered into being around her waist, and she drew two of the blades. "I'll do my best," she said, crossing the blades in front of her.

"Hey. You're Phoenix." Robert's hand reached into his pocket, and he flipped the coin he'd plucked out, off of his thumb. "That means you're my family. Don't matter if we argue."
The batleth shimmered into view above his head as the flipping coin liquified and elongated, and he pulled the weapon out of the air before it came crashing back down. "Or if you kick my a** in a fight." He added with a grin.
"Okay, are you usually more comfortable with two blades, like that, or one?" He eyed the other blades, his mind already working on some ideas. "Try attacking me with two, and then try one. Then.. we'll have some fun."

Madison grinned back. "Always wanted a big brother," she said, then shifted her stance. The way she hold the two swords was comfortable, but her stance was uneven, neither solid nor light. Definitely some work to be done there.
"And - two. Kouki gets mad if I use only one at a time," she said, and punctuated her statement by slashing at him with both blades, moving her arms together. The swords came at Robert in parallel.

"Well I didn't ask what Kouki likes-"
Madison rained pain and metal down on him, and he buckled back slightly, trying to block as many hits as he could with his batleth. Only when she paused, did he continue. "-I wanna know what feels better to you. I don't let Jezebel tell me what to do."
Maybe that's why you suck so much.
Shut up, woman.

Kouki hissed in disdain. Stop it, Madison ordered, pulling back and crossing the blades in front of her. "I like using two - it's, um, versatile? Once I figure out what to do I can... do things like this..."
She swung one sword out to redirect Robert's weapon, then jabbed at him with the other; the attack was a little clumsy since it used the sword in her off-hand, but it had as much force behind it as Madison could muster.
