General Information
The large stone cavern with the tiled floor and large yellow smiley face is likely familiar to at least several trainees, and may even feature in a few nightmares from time to time. Welcome to Deathsweeper, the training course that may only be attempted via c-type golem, and often acts as a testing ground for the Life Division's more painful creations. Stealth and detecting imminent danger are vital for Death Hunters and anyone who has to spend extended amounts of time near Caelius. The Deathsweeper chamber is full of hidden traps that only the finest of survival instincts can survive unscathed.

If you fail: you get to once again relive the sensation of dying. Painfully and sometimes quite strangely.

If you win: you have survived stepping 5 tiles into the room. Anything further is purely for peen and bragging rights.

    Mechanics
  • roll 1 d10
  • check for hp loss and death
  • decide whether or not to use your bonuses
  • if you survive, repeat.
  • roll list: the traps are ICly constantly changing, so feel free to get creative as to what exactly those traps are!
  • -50% HP is off your full HP, so if you hit -50% twice, then you are 100% KO'd

    01. horrible death
    02. - 50% HP
    03. live
    04. live
    05. - 50% HP
    06. - 50% HP
    07. horrible death
    08. - 50% HP
    09. live
    10. horrible death

    Bonus Mechanics
  • This bonus is consumable.
  • All participants get a flag, this flag will allow your character to notice something about the area they're stepping into. OOCly this means you can adjust your rolled number, up or down, by one point. Instinctive moves are used in the same manner as flags. These are stackable, so if you have 1 flag + 1 instinctive move, you can use them up in order to adjust your roll by two.

(If you roll a 1, you may not move your number down to 0, -1, or 10. And 10 cannot be adjusted to 1 or 11.)

  • Trainees: 1 flag
  • Death Trainees: 1 flag + 1 instinctive move
  • Hunters: 1 flag + 1 instinctive move
  • Death Hunters: 1 flag + 2 instinctive moves

It was one of those moments where Jude didn't feel like reading or doing much of anything else so instead he found himself starting up a nice little ... game. He stood outside the sets of tiles stretching out his limbs while Yom buzzed with excitement of the activity they were about to partake in. This seemed like it would be so much fun!

He tilted the golem around to take a good look at the cavern as he shook out his limbs. Jude needed to be ready for anything this place cold throw at him and hopefully it wouldn't be anything too terrible. Taking in a deep breath and then releasing it quiet sigh he stepped forward onto a tile.

...Nothing seemed to have happened. He gave himself a small pat on the back.

Jude was about to move onto the next tile that was just below the one he stepped on but he stopped himself as he noted a series of holes in the tile that if he leaned just so he could see a glint of something metallic and no doubt pointy set to probably impale him as soon as he put any weight upon the tile. Pursing his lips he turned and moved in the opposite direction of that tile finding safety and no impalement.

Yom seemed to approve of his prudent decision not to impale himself upon unknown pointy things.

Jude stood on his very safe tile and observed the ones around him carefully. Just because he noticed one trap doesn't mean he'd notice others. There was a bit of hesitation before he moved onto the next tile clenched his eyes shut for a couple of seconds and only dared to open them when nothing happened at all.

Well! That wasn't so bad, right?

'Doing good ssso far!' Yom congratulated happily from her little corner.

Jude nodded a little bit, "Let's not get too full of ourselves though..."

After a small 'yay I am awesome' party he stood there looking for the next tile to step on. When he moved to walk onto the next one he paused as he heard the creak of something from above. His head tilted up and he saw a bunch of rocks held up by some ropes, very large rocks, large rocks that seemed like they would make life uncomfortable when they fell upon the head of the unfortunate Hunter that stepped on that tile.

...Jude did not wish for an uncomfortable life and thus he went to a different tile entirely finding safety once again.

Man all this looking out for his wellbeing was making him pretty tired. He felt his focus fading away.

In spite of the slipping focus he moved forward to the next tile and nothing horrible happened. His mind was starting to get distracted now. Yom even seemed to be getting influenced by Jude's sudden desire to shift focus to something else as she was starting to murmur that she was bored. This was not what she was picturing as 'exciting'.

Jude shook his head; this wasn't meant to be exciting. This was meant to keep him sharp and on his toes but right now it seemed like this wasn't presenting any challenge at all.

"Well then. Shall we continue on?" he asked to no one in particular.

'I guessss,' Yom replied indifferently.

Stepping onto the next tile with careless abandon he didn't realize that there was a series of holes opening on a nearby wall and suddenly arrows came flying at the form of the golem he was currently inhabiting and suddenly it was riddled with projectiles. Jude let out a sound that was somewhere between a roar and a scream and he tore at some of the arrows to get them out of the golem which only made things a lot more painful for him. He stared down at the broken shafts of arrows for a long moment before he kicked them away onto a nearby tile. Stupid things.

He took a few deep breaths and took a look around. Should he press his luck and carry on?

The sudden pain and outcry of her host caused Yom to be more attentive, 'You alright?' She asked sounding momentarily concerned.

Jude gave a nod though she technically couldn't see it, "I'll be fine."

'Maybe we shouldn't pressss our luck?' Yom asked curiously.

He'd considered leaving for a brief moment but then there was no fun in not taking chances. There was no enjoyment from just letting risks just pass him by. The golem's hands clenched into fists and he stepped forward and then fell...

Fell right into a pit that opened up beneath the roaming feet of the golem. Suddenly there was green acidic liquid filling the pit that his form fell in...

...There was a burning pain. A pain he felt was screaming.

Oh wait no that was him screaming. Nevermind.

As he snapped awake in his pot after the golem had its agonizing demise that he got to feel every inch of he stared around with wide eyes.

Yom let out concerned noises but he didn't seem to hear them as he scrambled out of the pod and went to go take a shower feeling as if the liquid of the acid from the pit was all over his physical form.

((SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED 5 STEPS. Went further for fun.))
