Candace was a woman on a mission. No, seriously. She was a woman on a mission as foolish as the mission was. Couldn't they just give Julie a makeover and send her off to go seduce men with her dashing good looks? That always worked for Candace. Julie looked like she could be a very pretty girl if she really tried. Oh well, an assignment was an assignment...even if it was a strange one. But who did she know who was suave, charming, available and not a division leader? That Dakota kid was cute, he was a flirt...but he wasn't a good choice. He was a kid. Jordan? Eh, she didn't know him well enough. Bix? No, didn't know him well enough. Definitely not Jerry. Jerry was hers.
She stopped at a door marked 130 and hummed almost thoughtfully, looking at the bag of cookies and then the door again. Harrison had been through some s**t lately, huh? Almost dying, his weapon losing its kick for awhile...almost dying. And she thought he was pretty charming! And he was nice, and forgiving, and quite tolerant. And he liked pink. Julie looked like she liked pink, too. And they were both moon hunters! Yes! This was perfect! They were in a division together they could hang out and go on missions and damn, Candace! You are a genius~!
Candace was grinning as she knocked at Harrison's door. "Thirteen~? You in there?"

"Uh huh, be right there," Harrison said, opening the door. When they weren't doing some kind of cleaning duty or signed up for anything on the roster, life around the base was...pretty boring, actually. There was nothing to do in his room, and while he'd been easing back into the less physically demanding jobs, there was a lot of downtime. He was grateful for the reprieve. And even happier to hear from Candace.
"What's up?"

Yay! He was home! She looked elated when he opened the door, glad to see him doing much better. This was going to be great! "Hey, buddy!" She shrugged a little. "Nooooot much. May I come in~? I've got a proposition for you! And no, not that kind. A good one. I think you'll like it."

"Sure, come on in," Harrison said, not really sure what Candace meant by that kind of proposition. It wouldn't have occurred to him to put that and Candace together in the same thought process. "What can I do you for?"

"Ah, Harrison." Candace opened the bag of cookies she was carrying and picked one out. "It's not what you can do for me, but what I can do for you." She bit into the cookie and held it between her teeth a moment to fish out another cookie and offer it to him. "Cookie?" She asked, muffled slightly by the cookie.
She waited for him to take it before finally freeing the cookie from her mouth and holding it in her hand, sitting at the edge of his bed. "I've been sent on a mission. And get this, it's to find their true love~." She giggled, grinning up at her friend. She'd wait for him to eat the cookie before she continued.

"Sure," Harrison said, taking the cookie and chewing while he talked, "True love, huh? That's kinda weird," he swallowed, brightening and taking another bite, "but not all that weird, everybody needs somebody, right? Wow, this is a really good," the next few bites were more hurried, "You know what, I'm happy for whoever it is, I bet they find just the person they're looking for, engagement on Christmas, fairy tale wedding in June, all that s**t. ...Can I have another one of those?"

He ate the cookie. Yes. Candace was the best friend ever. She chuckled and nodded, crossing one leg over the other and not eating anymore of her cookie. She was already feeling really cheerful because of that one bite! She didn't need to be going crazy. Instead she pretended to eat it, bringing it to her lips but breaking off bits and pieces with her thumb to catch in the her hand and slyly drop into the bag. She'd eat these pieces later. "Yeah. And aren't they? They're the best cookies ever." This was truth. Candace had never eaten a better cookie in her entire life. They were the best.
"I know, right? It's cute, like a fairy tale!" Candace grinned again as he asked for another cookie. She was quick to comply, handing her friend what he wanted.
"Sooooo...wanna see if maybe you're their soulmate~? They want someone suave, charming and someone willing to give a true love's kiss." She was sure Harrison could be all of those things if he tried!
You are the worst friend ever, Candace. Atropos laughed. Candace merely smiled.

"What? Yeah, that sounds great." Wow! This was seriously the best thing he had ever eaten. Who didn't want suave and charming? He felt warm and cozy all over, and happier than he had been...ever. He was pretty sure he had never felt this happy in his entire life. "I'm not as pretty as I was a week ago, but they sound real nice, and everybody deserves a chance on Christmas."
It's not Christmas, B0nez said, You're going a mile a minute.
It is Christmas, or almost Christmas. It's December, probably. They already decorated the halls and everything. I love Christmas.
"I love Christmas," he affirmed aloud, reaching for another cookie.

Wow. That was easy. These cookies really did the trick! "You're fine! Really! Got any nicer clothes, though? We should make a good first impression." Candace stood up, putting the rest of her cookie in the bag. She felt confident, energized, and awesome. It was amazing what one bite of a cookie could do! Damn!
"I love Christmas, too. It's pretty awesome." Ohhhh! This was gonna be great! She offered him another cookie.

"Yeah, Christmas is the best. So you think I should clean up a little? I never owned a suit except the regulation one, but it's not like they let you keep those, and that's more a uniform anyhow. You know who has nice clothes? Jerry has nice clothes, they're always bright and I don't know if he's got a suit but I know he's got ties."
The cookies Candace gave him were disappearing faster and faster. He could barely feel his chest and lip, and a lot of bright colors seemed like a really good idea.
"Maybe something red, or green, or red and green."

"Hmm, not a suit. That's far too formal. Maybe just some nicer clothes under your coat, hmm?" At the mention of Jerry having nice clothes through Candace stopped. Ehhh... "I...don't think his sweater vests will fit you. Or any of his clothes." Jerry was a very, very skinny man.
Candace laughed as he went on about what colors to wear, nodding and walking to his closet. She hoped he had some kind of wardrobe he brought from his...former life..like she had.
What? Candace brought all of her clothes. She wasn't leaving a damn thing behind. "Whatcha got?"

The selection was slim, yet appalling. All of his clothes looked like they belonged on The Fresh Prince. Where Jerry certainly had bright clothes in a cheerful, Hawaii kind of way, Harrison's taste levels were clearly....questionable.
The pants, boots, and plain t-shirt he kept re-wearing for missions were apparently the only normal things he owned.
The color selection belonged in a box of highlighters.
"Nothing sweater vesty. I wish I had a sweater. With reigndeer or snowmen or something on it," he got rid of the last warm, sugary crumbs from his fingers.

Candace opened the closet, and a long silence settled in the room as she looked upon what was inside. There were just...no words. Slowly closing the door, Candace turned to Harrison and looked him up and down. That would have to do. There was no <********> way Candace was sending Harrison out or being seen with him looking like some lame early 90s fashion reject. First chance she got she was going to ask if she could take Harrison to a mall. "Nevermind. You're fine how you are, buddy. Let's ******** no he was not going out like that.

"You know what would really go great with these? Eggnog!" Harrison said, then laughed like he had just made a really funny joke.
"Ha ha! Oh man. ...You sure, I mean I know I don't have anything formal but this is all really great stuff, but you're right, I just don't have anything seasonal. It's been a while since I did any dating, well not a while a while but nothing too serious, I wanted to get a job right away you know and focus on that stuff later but now that I got the job, the more the merrier! I never really gave much thought to True Love but there's just something about today that makes me feel like it could really happen. Even if it doesn't, something great is going to, I can tell."

"I don't know if there's eggnog where we're going but there's definitely hot chocolate. Will that do?" Though she didn't want to admit the hot chocolate in Julie's room kind of scared her. Clarice had said Julie made really good brownies...but she wasn't sure she wanted to trust anything made on a dish in that kitchen. That girl seriously needed to clean her damn room.
She was guiding Harrison out as he began to ramble on about himself, though she did listen with genuine interest. Apparently cookies made him chatty. Been awhile since he dated, huh? Then perhaps this was what he needed! But she could understand wanting to focus on one's career instead of doing something as frivolous as dating. Or what had seemed frivolous at the time. "Oh good, she mentioned she felt today was the day too. This'll be great!" This was the first time she had mentioned any kind of gender-specific pronoun.
Oops.
But it was too late! She was already dragging him up the stairs to room 211.
