 Lakonale rolled over and yawned as the sun was beginning to sink below the horizon. She rubbed at her eyes with her paws. It was starting to get dark. She smiled and pushed herself up. That was a good nap she had. She stretched out her hind legs and pushed her butt up as she stretched her legs in front of her. A frown found it's way to her muzzle when she discovered her siblings already laying down to sleep. They were no fun, always sleeping at night. She nuzzled her parents before they settled down to sleep too.
Now she didn't really have anyone to play with. That was alright. She could make up her own game. Lakonale started to hop around little rocks on the ground. Then she discovered some kind of flying bug. It must only come out at night. She didn't know what it was but it was pretty big. So she chased after it, laughing when it landed on her. She started to shake her head to get it off. That was when she fell over onto her back and bumped her head on something too soft to be a tree or rock. She looked up to stare at a massive male leopard. One she had never seen before.
Lakonale grinned up at him and waved her paw. "Hi! I'm Lakonale. Do you like to play at night too?" Her voice sounded excited and happy to have met a stranger.

 The lithe leopard moved silently in the falling night, confident in his movements and not showing signs of slowing despite the fact he had been walking all day. He might have hated travelling, but he was not a weak male, so the energy that travel exerted was not that hard on him. The sound of laughter broke the night’s growing silence around him though, and he paused, cocking an ear towards the noise and turning to face the direction it came from. It was a familiar noise to him. He had raised many cubs before, none of them his own, but still. The laughter certainly came from a youth – who should have been amongst family as the night was falling.
He frowned and moved towards the sound, spying the young leopard easily as she laughed and chased a bug. When she fell over, he was close enough to her that she head butted him, her small form barely hitting him with any force behind it.
He couldn’t help but let his mouth twist up into a small smile at the youth’s exuberance, but grew seriously. “Lakonale…hasn’t anyone ever told you it is dangerous to wander alone at night?” He asked, his voice deep and rich. He raised his gaze from her, scanning for her parents in the night. Surely she was not an orphan…

Lakonale rolled over to sit back on her haunches as she smiled up at the big leopard. He seemed friendly enough and had very interesting markings, so unlike her own. She quickly shook her head at his question, "No, mama never told me that." She squints her eyes at him, frowning a little bit. "Your not dangerous, are you?" If he was, he didn't act like it. Though she could guess that a swipe from his paw would hurt a lot more than one from her siblings. She lifted one paw to look at how very small it was compared to his.
Then a thought occurred to Lakonale. She twisted her head this way and that way. Sure enough, there was no sign of her siblings or parents and she could barely make out where they slept. "I was just chasing a bug." She swats at the air with a big grin as if to show him what she means. "I like playing at night. Do you like playing at night too? Is that why your up?" If he did want to play, that would just make her day. It would be great to have someone to play with at night. She was sure her parents would be ok with it.
