All things considered, Jett had done a fair job of keeping that night out of his head. After sending the flowers, he’d let it be; he’d done his part and offered what slight bit of condolence his pride would allow, however when it came time to meet at the rendezvous point with Raven, his mind was playing over the different scenarios that could happen.

He arrived at the destination a little after sundown, and still fifteen minutes before she was supposed to show up—if she was going to show up at all. He’d selected a public place—near a fountain in the park where he had no doubt she would be familiar with. Their school used to take field trips to the park for community service events and they’d always eaten lunch here.

It was the first time in a while that he’d been in the area and had no drive to indulge in some fast food. Instead, he took a seat on the bench near the fountain and lazily reclined, resting his arms atop the back of the bench and tilting his head back up so he could look into the sky.

The stars were pretty, albeit dimmed due to the light of the city. It wasn’t like in the Surrounding—where he’d truly seen the stars, and space. It was an image he remembered quite vividly due to the sheer beauty.

He glanced at his watch only once—ten minutes before the rendezvous time—and then just relaxed again, eyes searching the sky and ears tuned to the sounds around him.

Raven hadn’t intended to be early. She hadn’t wanted to be early, yet, there she was, walking up to the dumb blonde sitting on the bench, almost ten minutes before she had to be there. This was madness. Jett didn’t deserve to have her there early…she didn’t want to be there.

Well, maybe she did. A little. The flowers he had sent were completely beautiful, and were on her desk in her room. They even had her mother interested, wondering who had sent her ‘little Raven’ such pretty flowers.

It wasn’t often that her mother noticed anything outside of her damn books.

Ah well. She was here. He had better have something worthwhile to say…if he didn’t. She was going to go on another patrol. And hopefully this one wouldn’t involve any stupid knights. Unless it was that b***h girl kight, Bifrost or whatever. She really hoped that Celsus had made good on telling her that she wanted to meet with her.

“What is it you want, Jett?”

Lazily, Jett rolled his head so that he was facing Raven. "A lot of things, but I don't suppose you came here to let me list all the things I want." He watched her for a second, looked her up and down, and then stood, brushing himself off and dispelling any wrinkles that clung to him.

He hadn't brought a peace offering like a gentleman might have, but--then again--she was the one who had last been giving him death glares, and if she was going to throw a hissy fit because he decided to indulge in some a few hours spent with a good looking girl, then he was going to pretend like he was the bad guy and suck up to her with apologies and lies.

Jett did not like to apologize. Jett had no intention of apologizing.

Especially when he'd done nothing wrong.

Or, you know. Ever.

"...I figured there were some things we could talk about, if you felt so inclined. You showed up, so I suspect you had at least something in mind for the evening," he said, seeming his usual suave self. There was no guilt or worry in either his posture or his voice; he seemed to carry his cocky air about him even now.

Really? He had given her the flowers…and decided to pull some crap like this? Raven felt her face heat up, and her eyes began to burn slightly. Well. This was an embarrassing development…why did she have to go and almost start crying like some pansy? No wonder he was going to want to choose some bimbo who was too weak to defend herself.

Here Raven was about to start crying like some spoiled child who wasn’t given what she wanted on a shopping trip. She drew in a shaky breath then just shrugged. “Sure. I showed up, though I suppose that was because I was curious about what the hell you wanted. I wasn’t expecting flowers. It didn’t seem like something you’d do normally.”

It was too nice of a gesture was what she had meant to say. Though, it was still impersonal enough that he didn’t have to see her while they were delivered. No, if it had been a good gesture, he would have come to her door himself and given them to her, then apologized or something.

“Why did you want to meet with me? I figured you’re the one who wanted to say something.”

He shrugged slightly, watching Raven closely. It wasn't hard to see that she was upset, though he couldn't entirely be sure if those were tears in her eyes, or if she was shaking from the cold or in anger.

"Is it bad for me to have sent flowers?" he asked with a shrug. "If you don't like it, I won't do it any more. Which is a shame, because those florists were really easy to work with."

Jett pushed himself up from the bench, brushed himself off, and then stood to face her, hands crossed over his chest. "What are you expecting me to say?"

Because, it sure as hell wasn't going to be sorry.

"I figured we'd just talk. You left in a hurry the last time I saw you, so I figured we should clear some things up."

“The ******** flowers were lovely. That’s not the problem here.” She grit her teeth then sighed. “Why were you on a date with that girl?”

Well. Not as eloquent as she had wanted the question to be…but she supposed it worked. It got to the point at least.

“I suppose I was under the impression that you and I were dating…you know. After that night at the museum, the making out…all of that s**t.” She was upset now. And it was growing worse by the moment. She had curled her hands into fists and was trying to stop herself from losing control and just hauling off and punching Jett square in the face. Though…with the rate the conversation was going, she might end up doing that anyway.

How could she be so completely head over heels with such a complete and total a*****e? Why were her standards so low? She’d be a lot better off with Darwin…hell, or Candice for that matter. At least those two were nice people and not complete jerks.

Jett's lips twisted into a scowl. "Wow, Raven. Way to jump into things. You've made out with plenty of people, I didn't gather we were some exclusive couple or something."

It wasn't something he'd really put a whole lot of thought into; Raven was always kissing someone--and she was pretty and charismatic, so it made sense that she'd have a lot of admirers. Jett hadn't taken a relationship seriously in a long time, so he hadn't even realized how serious Raven was about all of this until in that moment.

Yeah, they'd made out in the museum. But if that meant they were going out, it was news to him. The topic had only briefly been brushed while in the Surrounding, though the memory was fleeting and vague, at best.

"If I'd have realized you were so serious, I wouldn't have gone with Harmony to dinner," he said, voice somewhat strained and yet still very unapologetic.

If he had realized. If he had realized? That was it. That and him turning this around to point the blame at her. She drew her fist back, and punched Jett in the face as hard as she could without losing her footing.

“You didn’t realize my feelings? What the hell kind of ******** up piece of s**t are you? Are you just some stupid robot who doesn’t give a crap for anything other than yourself? I think it’s pretty messed up when I was happier pretending to date Darwin, even if that was just to make you jealous! I’m so very glad to see it worked.”

She drew away, those damn tears finally beginning to spill from her eyes. “Go take the dumb b***h to dinner, and to lunch, and whatever. I don’t ******** care about you anymore. You’re a stupid jerk and I know I can get someone better than you in half a minute.”

Nobody had ever made her so angry before…it was really, really annoying.

Raven had severely improved her technique; Jett had been admiring her form even as she was moving to hit him. The scene seemed too odd for her to be throwing punches, though there was the proof—hitting him in the face.

He hadn’t entirely braced himself and stumbled back a bit, eyes shooting up coldly to lock eyes with her. “I don’t know if you noticed, Raven, but she’s not the one standing in front of me right now.”

Damn it, he wanted to hit her back. Raven was clearly very physical with her emotions—which obviously explained the frequent kissing and hitting—but Jett didn’t really like being hit.

His voice was a bit sour when he continued, “And if you would just shut up for a minute and calm down, maybe you’d realize that I didn’t call you here to pick a fight. I wouldn’t be trying to make amends if I didn’t care about you, so chill out and stop throwing fists.”

Damn it. Jett didn’t like drama, but there was a little part inside of him that was suddenly scrambling to make sense of things. Had he cheated on Raven? But he hadn’t even thought they were going out. But she was this upset—had he said something in the Surrounding? Had he said they were going out?

It didn’t matter if he’d said yes or not, this situation was putting him on edge and frustrating him; he hadn’t been so worked up over a girl in a while—especially over something that seemed like some huge misunderstanding.

“I didn’t mean it like that. I never meant to lead anyone on, or hurt them or anything, all right?” He didn’t even move to rub his cheek; the cold of the air around them was doing a fine job of numbing it already. “It was an accident, Raven,” he added, voice sounding sincere—albeit gruff. “It was a mistake. Don’t—”

He sighed. “…Don’t cry, Raven.”
PostPosted: Fri Dec 09, 2011 4:45 pm

Don’t cry? Why shouldn’t she ******** cry…Why shouldn’t she just throw a damn tantrum like a child and storm away, never to speak to stupid mean ol’ Jett ever again. Well. If they weren’t both on a team maybe she could easily do that.

Though, as it stood, such a thing would be completely impossible. Besides. Who could deny it…there was something between the two. She wasn’t sure if it was a good sort of something…but it was a something sort of something…and he had to feel it too. It was like some sort of tumor. Some sort of tumor of something that was growing between them, binding them together. Hadn’t they both been abducted into the Surrounding? Hadn’t they both been chosen to become Dark Mirror Senshi?

She wiped at her eyes, then looked at him, expression on the verge of being angry. “You listen here, Jett. You are mine. Do you understand what I’m telling you? I don’t know if I believe in fate, or destiny, but you and I are going down the same path, and have been for a while now. So, you have a choice. Sort of. Either suck it up and kiss me right now, or I’ll be sure to scare off any other girlfriend you will ever have from now on, you got it?”

Her teal eyes were free of tears now and she seemed determined. “You belong to me. I am your only girlfriend, and from this point on, you better remember that. I won’t be so forgiving the next time you cheat on me.”

Raven had listed several very good points, however Jett couldn’t help but still be amused by the end of her speech—even if she had bitched and whined and hit him and then suddenly declared possession over him.

And yet, it was interesting. It was different. Raven’s obsession with him not cheating might have rivaled his own determination not to be involved with someone with loose morals and low fidelity. He had the option to call her a crazy b***h and walk away—tell her that he didn’t want to be involved in a relationship or that she was crazy for thinking they ever had a chance.

But he didn’t.

Jett was quiet, seeming thoughtful as he reached up a hand to play with the blonde’s hair. He didn’t look into her eyes, just watched his fingers gliding through her hair. There wasn’t any reason to think about his option—he couldn’t imagine Raven bluffing. He could imagine her, eighty years from now when she was gray and withered and well beyond her prime, still persistently chasing away all eligible bacheloretts. He did like Raven. In a way he maybe hadn’t liked a girl before. She was different, though—she had said it best. Be it fate or destiny, they were heading down the same path, and had been for a while. And it didn’t look like that was going to be changing anytime soon.

He didn’t have a choice to make. There was no debating on what his options were—he already knew what he wanted.

With no guilt or doubt in his mind, Jett leaned forward and kissed her.
