Hey guys! I'm a real COD enthusiast, and I got to thinking on why COD is so great: aside from the campaign, it has an excellent multiplayer system (the same may be true for other FPS, but I don't play them, so I wouldn't know). Anyways, the actual roleplay in TUP is really enjoyable and an excellent experience (like a good campaign mode), but I realized that we're really lacking a form of structured "quick matches" where people can blow off steam by fighting, but not have to worry about having their actual RPC killed. So, I've drafted up some game types for you guys to use just for this purpose in the battle coliseum! Anyways, here are the rules:
1. You need people!
Get some people together and choose a game type! Make sure they're active, and I would recommend that the minimum number of people per game type be used to start with so people can get the hang of it.
2. Don't let it interfere with your roleplay!
The actual roleplay should takes over the coliseum.
3. You need a map.
In most cases, a setting will not be provided for you to fight in, so you're going to have to find or make your own. You can use virtually any setting you wish, so long as all parties involved agree upon its fairness, have a visual of it, and it's in a place fitting to the technological limitations of the Naruto Universe.
4. You need to make a character!
A. Every character, except in the Hardcore game type, starts off as a standard Sannin and has maxed out everything that that character can achieve. If you give that character a stage 1 cursemark, it'drops a rank. The same is true if you use a bloodline or clan, except in specific cases (which will be listed below). If your character has a stage 2 cursemark, then he or she drops another rank OR cannot have custom weapons (see part B). If you use a bijuu, you either drop one rank and cannot have custom weapons, or you drop two ranks.
Stage 2 Sharingan/Byakugan/Rinnegan: Will either cause you to drop an additional rank, or cause you not to be able to use custom weapons. If you're already using a stage 2 cursemark and chose to not use custom weapons because of it, then you must drop the additional rank (and vice-versa)
Final stage Sharingan/Byakugan: You must drop an additional rank AND lose the ability to have a custom weapon. Stage 2 cursemarks cannot be used.
Implants, for the time being, will not be allowed.
B. As far as custom weapons are concerned, your character can use any custom weapon that has been approved in the customs forum (unless you chose a bloodline/bijuu/cursemark combination preventing you from doing so).
C. Since this isn't the actual roleplay, you don't need to train or apply to use anything. You will, however, be expected to know how to use what your character has. If mods constantly have to correct you, you'll be required to fill out said applications.
D. Your coliseum character does not need a background, but everything else does need to be filled out. Use the character creation system to make your profile(s) that are to be used for coliseum purposes. Once a profile is approved, you should put a copy of it and a link to the approval in your sandbox.
E. You can import any RPC you use in the game instead of following the character creation guidelines set up for coliseum purposes, but remember that events in the coliseum have no affect on the actual roleplay.
5. Follow all the guild rules.
Game Types:
One on One
Good ole' fashioned pride matches. Also a good way to sharpen your combat roleplay skills.
Runaway Scout:
2+ people chase after 1 person, and must capture him/her within ten posts per person in this game type. So if there are 2 chasers and 1 "rabbit," (scout) then there's a 30 post time limit from the time the chase starts. 3 chasers, 40 post limit, etc. The group will choose which topic in the guild the chase will start in, however all posting will be done in the coliseum, nowhere else.
Man the Fort:
A defending team is given a well fortified stronghold protecting a place of strategic importance. It has certain weak points that reduce structural integrity of the fort when destroyed. Teams of 2 ninja will attack and defend this stronghold. The objective is to cause, or prevent, as much damage to the structure as possible. The game ends when the attacking team is dead or otherwise incapacitated, or when the structural integrity is reduced to zero.
Note: It is advised that you actually draw a map for this game type so things aren't complicated. I will make one eventually, but for now you're on your own.
Battle Royall:
A 3+ free-for-all which takes place in a large sealed dome, and it will not release until there is only 1 person left standing.
Professor Lockart's Dueling Academy:
Teams of two attempt to disarm or incapacitate each other. A kill results in an automatic loss for the killing team.
Capture The Sword???:
3 Ninja fight for control of a sword which boosts all stats (strength, speed, agility, toughness, using and defending against genjutsu, and using elemental ninjutsu) for the wielder. Keep in mind that you must actually wield the sword to gain these benefits, One respawn is allowed. The person that is still alive or that has has the most posts of possession of the sword after 60 posts wins.
Suicide:
You will fight one ninja to the death. When the enemy dies, you regain all chakra and stamina (and mental stamina, if applicable) you spent and all cool-downs reset. Then the enemy you just killed plus a new enemy spawn and you must kill both of them. You keep the cycle going until your character dies. We will set up a leaderboard to keep track of who can get the most kills in one life based on this setup.
Hardcore:
A fight between two teams of up to four jounin ninja each, where bloodlines, clans, bijuu, and cursemarks are not allowed.
