After tapping away her invitation to Roch on Groanspring, Lark wheeled away from her laptop and resummoned Ben. The familiar was more than slightly grumpy when she did so.
"Y'gotta stop doin' that t'me. It ain't right. It just ain't right."
"Stop gettin' all fired up, then, Ben. We ain't never battled b'fore and y'cant' just expect t'go up against a year two student n' come away unharmed."
Ben snorted and followed Lark out the door, watching the ghoul as she stuffed her hat on her head. It didn't take long for the duo to make their way to the Gym, and soon enough they were pacing outside the entrance, waiting for Roch.

The boil in question had just shown up and was about to go in. He glanced up as he heard Ben approaching, grinning. "Lookin' good, my mohawk brother," he teased. "C'mon, we'll find an empty place and get to it."
He headed inside, letting them follow, and turned when he was inside, summoning his guitar. "No rules, hunters don't deserve that sort of respect, alright?"

"Roch!" Ben almost swooned when he caught sight of the other reaper.
Lark chewed on her lower lip as she watched Roch summon his weapon. No rules? That didn't seem real safe, but...
"Aye," Ben answered for her. "No rules, mate. No mercy. I ain't some pretty lil'flower y'gotta be gentle with. Keep that in mind," he bossed, flicking an ear happily.
"I guess," Lark sighed, shaking her head at Ben. The familiar thumped his tail in agreement.

Roch just grinned, then focused on lowering his FEAR just a bit. He would fight on the same level as the roo, he decided. Since he really liked these two, and to beat the living crap out of them seemed evil, and even with what a jacker he was, he wasn't going to do it.
"Alright, Roo! Let's see what you can do," Roch said, motioning him forward.

Ben shot forward, all gliding muscles and bounding feet. He was far more agile than one would think. He flew across the space that separated himself from Roch and at the last moment he spun, slamming his tail into Roch's hip before retreating.
He proceeded to plant himself between Roch and his Lark as if protecting the ghoul from any attacks that might come her way.

Roch grunted, then did his 360 move, letting the body of the guitar gain momentum before slamming it into the kangaroo's side. The roo hit hard! It was awesome!
He was planning on enjoying himself for this fight.

Ben took the attack in stride with a soft grunt, doubling over. It bothered Lark to see Ben take that attack. They were supposed to be working together, after all, and she wasn't about to let Ben take all the heat -- or deliver the hurt.
While Ben was hunched over, Lark wound up and socked Roch in the gut. They were a team, her and Ben, and this was practice for them to work together.

Roch grunted at the hit, then without thinking, since he was bent over anyway, he headbutted the ghoul that had just hit him. "s**t, sorry," he muttered. "I didn't mean to hit you--"

Lark wheeled backwards, staring at Roch with a stunned look. She rubbed her forehead where his had cracked into hers, the stunned look on her face turning incredulous.
"Looks like 'is heads as hard as yers is, Lark." Ben laughed.
Lark chuckled, shaking her head. There were stars before her eyes!
"Come on, then, Roch," Ben chortled, lifting a clawed hand and gesturing for the boil to attack.

Roch still looked a bit guilty, even though he hadn't hit her that hard. "Hey, just tellin' you now, we can stop at any time, okay, guys? I don't believe in going till someone dissipates, that's just stupid." Then he grabbed his guitar to get another hit in.
On the roo. His guitar caught a glancing blow on Ben, but failed to hit as solidly as he would have liked. Oh well. This wasn't like battling Herryk or Sparrow.

Again, Ben took the hit like a champ. He didn't complain or cry out. This was all about being more efficient in battle, not crying like a ghoul. The roo rocked back on his tail before thumping down a foot against the top of Roch's foot. It was almost harmless, but it wasn't meant to cause severe pain.
It was almost chiding.
"C'mon then, boil. Y'know what we're up against just as well's I do." Ben gestured at Lark, who was watching the exchange while she rubbed her forehead.
"We gotta protect thems we care about, yeah?"

Roch just gave him a wry smile. He knew far better than the roo did. He feinted at the roo, just to see what he would do. "You're better than I thought you'd be," Roch complimented him. "You just need to grow in your FEAR, just like the rest of us. And work on your team play more."

Lark grinned, dropping her hand to her side.
"We're just glad t'have someone t'help us out." She watched as Ben lashed out with a clawed paw. The slash caught Roch across the chest. Ouch.
"Yeah," Ben added, "otherwise we'd be punchin' ourselves in th'face, and that ain't gonna accomplish nothin'!"

Roch hissed at the cut, jerking back from it. He suddenly remembered her statement about sharpening his claws... His guitar came up, hitting the claw that had sliced him. Maybe he could declaw the guy, he thought with amusement.

Ben gave a loud yip, pulling his paw back. "Sonova..." He shook his paw, sending Roch a glare.
Lark laughed right before her heel came down on Roch's toe. Those poor feet of his were really taking a beating!
