Serah brought her bag filled sparingly in preparation for the supplies she would have to restock on. Her dust softly lit a corner of the deep bag, although it wasn't as prominent in the daylight. Serah glanced downwards, standing on the sidewalk, as she mentally calculated the pricing and lists of things she would have to buy today.
The female stood on the street with her gradient hair, pink fading down to yellow, in an off-the-shoulder dress, her colorful attire standing apart from the normally conservative street where shopkeepers dressed for the upcoming cold weather.
That was probably why Serah sniffled and sneezed a few times.

"My thanks," Tesla offered to the middle-aged man who retrieved her fallen satchel, fingers extended to readjust the strap on her shoulder. It was old and worn and the buckle didn't always hold; she was grateful for the small grace of it being mostly empty for now, containing only a few nonbreakable necessities. She only hoped it would be more useful for the trek home.
Pushing the hem of her fur-lined cloak back, adjusting the tie that fastened it at her throat, the red-head picked her way through the crowd with practiced ease, familiar with the ebb and flow of people moving around the immediate area. Tesla enjoyed the colder weather though she wasn't generally 'appropriately' dressed for it aside from her cloak: leather attire donned her frame, a corset-like top leaving her collar bare with softer fabric for her breeches, tied at the sides and supple, once-folded boots. Her hair was bound to its standard to keep the length out of her face: bangs side-swept, two ample locks bound over her shoulders with the rest looped at the base of her skull. It was time for the farmer's daughter to pick out a few ingredients for preserving for the winter months, as well as checking the price on wood slats for her house repairs. Her father was coming home and she didn't want him to work anymore than he had to; the Gods knew he had his hands full with her mother and flock of siblings. She was also gearing to look for a few other choice items - namely for travel - but that was more an idle fancy and hope, if the price was right.
The quick succession of sneezes near by prompted her attention, arching her darker, slender brows above her vibrant green gaze. "Bless you," she offered politely, pausing long enough to fish a handkerchief out of the satchel she bore against her side. Offering it to the woman, she gave her a long look, one of admiration and interest. "...your hair is fantastic. Like a sunrise."

Serah clutched the bag of supplies closer to her body, her palm covering her lower half of her face, sniffling slightly as her body attempted to adjust to the cold of the weather. Even though she knew the cold would come every year, it seemed that the knowledge was not adequate enough to prepare her body for the weather changes. One of the reasons that the female bore such a lack of appropriate dress was one of the reasons she had gone into town today. To buy herself some fitting wear that would protect herself from the cold and some footwear also.
Serah had not been paying attention around her, her attention focused on the next sneeze at the moment, when a soft material placed near her elbow forced her plans to withdraw. Serah took it gratefully, covering the delicate bridge of her nose. "I'm sorry-" She cut off shortly with a few more sneezes, the tickling sensation finally dying down.
While one might have thought it was odd to compliment a stranger on the street, the point was, they were females. They could probably stop each other on the street and ask where one bought their boots out of nowhere, with little to no introduction.
"T-Thank you. It's always been my proudest feature .. But taking the risk of sounding cliche by returning compliments, I think you figure looks fantastic. I dont think many could pull of that top-- I know I couldn't." Perhaps, the other female's attire could be termed as a little masculine but her features were more than enough to give it a unique look that made it her own. Serah knew she didn't have the figure to pull off clothes that clung to her figure, such as breeches. her hand leaned self-consciously back towards her neck, gathering her hair over one shoulder. It was warmer that way, until Serah bought a cloak for warmth.
"Are you shopping?" She indicated towards the female's satchel, Serah's own sticking out with her bulging dust in the corner.

Were she able to hear Serah's inner thoughts, Tesla would have blushed. It was true: she was more of a 'handsome' woman than beautiful, but she had no qualms with that. She was a farmer's daughter and wouldn't be turning any heads anytime soon. "That is very kind of you," she said with a gentle laugh, fingers brushing over her cheek as if to check if she was blushing, "though I find dresses don't suit me well when I must traverse the streets for goods."
Adjusting the satchel over her shoulder as it was indicated, Tesla gave the vibrant-haired woman a polite smile and an affirming nod. "House repairs -- fences need mending, blankets need stitching, fields need sowing -- sadly, they don't do it themselves and I've only so much I can do with my own two hands." She grinned then, fingers lightly drawing down the length of the strap of the bag on her side until it they rested over the folded top. "And you, my Lady? Perchance -- buying something for the coming cold?" And truly, the other female looked entirely chilled, the likes of which made Tesla feel a little guilty for holding her up. Using her free hand to indicate Serah could move on if she pleased, she hesitated for a moment before speaking again.
"Might I -- interest you in some coffee or hot chocolate? There's a fabulous vendor a few stalls down -- and my name is Tesla Grey, of the Grey Farmstead on Siren Shore." Plucking the sides of her cloak, she fell into a polite curtsy.

Serah chuckled, her hand covering the rude laughter, raising her other hand apologetically. Her hand lowered, as the female went on to describe the mundane processes of life that one could not avoid, when time decided to take it's toll. Time ravaged and all they could do with slowly ebb the process down to a slow and soothing one.
"No they don't. The longer you wait, the larger the pile." Serah replied regretfully, her tone laced with experience. To live was to work, one did not lead luxurious lives through a lack of effort. Serah's finger trailed downwards, from her shoulder to her chest, tracing the tea-drop shaped gem, in a brooch like setting on her neck. "I should. Probably a cloak or some sort similar." Serah's voice held a chiding note, toward herself, for such ignorance on the upcoming weather. She had assumed she would be fine but human thoughts were much more trivial than the weather conditions that the spirits of cloud and wind had settled on.
Did she say hot chocolate?
Serah beamed, returning the curtsy, her hair falling forward in spilling waves. "Did you know, that combination makes absolutely the best sort of drink for this weather? I'm Serah of the Azure Stones on .. Did you say Siren shore? I'm located near there as well!" Serah forgot her cold momentarily in her small excitement, clapping her hands. "Oh, we're close to each other. I make jewelry-- Wait, I suppose that's conversation over a hot mug. Which way was that stall?"
She was walking in the wrong direction.

"Indeed," Tesla replied with a knowing gravity, twisting her lips in thought of all that needed to be done - and all still that would accumulate as the cold months wore on. The chilly days were reserved for house and land repairs, for once the first thaw began and spring was upon her, she'd be married to the field with no reprieve. It was a hard life, but an honest one, and that which she wouldn't change for the world. "You'd think the market streets would be warmer, but alas." The farmer's daughter laughed softly in her understanding, vivid green eyes turning around the bustle of bodies. She supposed, in a way, the unfriendliness of day-to-day activities could make the cold seem more prevailing than just the weather.
At the clap and glee Serah displayed, she couldn't help but laugh again, this time more delighted and warm. "Azure Stones - I think I've heard that name in passing! I'm afraid I don't get out much...ah, this way!" And with a friendly grin, Tesla extended her hand and took the sunset-haired woman's arm, using the momentum to gently indicate which way Serah should turn. With all the familiarity of an old friend, she had her arm comfortably laced with the other woman's, using it as a means of direction without out-right pulling her along. Tesla had some tact, just...not a lot of it. "Where abouts is the Stones? Is it closer to the city? The Grey Farmstead is west, near the bend of the cliffs. If you've ever a need for some ornate items for your jewelry work, there's a fabulous market not far from where I live where the locals gather to trade and gossip..."
Lifting her chin to look around the cluttered stalls, she spotted the one she was aiming for, uttering a soft sound of triumph as she continued her friendly means of leading her unfortunate companion. "And jewelry at that! How does one make jewelry?" Tesla's fascination was tangible, all wide-eyed awe and attention that was wholly upon the woman on her arm, even though her eyes continued to flit to make sure she didn't lead Serah into anyone as they made their way. She could already smell the allure of melted chocolate amidst the other carts of treats like honeyed tea and roasted marshmallows. It was getting a little hard to remember just why she was there when the promise of delicious sweets held such allure!

The similarities marking the lifestyles were good traits, ones that would never allow them to give it up for the mundane riches of the world. What was most important was the relish one took in their work because laziness didn't often cut it in small villages.
"In passing is more than enough, it means that I'm making good enough business for it to be passed around." Serah pointed out, pleased with the answer, the sort a thriving business focused on. Serah let her arm go lax, for the woman to guide her through the streets. She nearly collided with some that appeared out of nowhere, stumbling as she followed Tesla. "The dragon peak cliffs? I'm a little in-between, if you must place me. I tend to go all around, the stones I require are rather scattered about. I dont think I know the market you speak of but I'd be glad to venture on my next outing there."
More materials was never a bad thing.
Serah followed Tesla's gaze towards the stall, delighting in the fact it looked rather comfortable and well-dressed. Serah found that she collided into far less people when she let Tesla fully lead her, her body relaxing in her companion's familiar grip. "Jewelry is a simple but detailed process. It requires an intensive handcrafting skill.. I use baked clay silver or scramble something from scraps anywhere and everywhere. Someone else's trash means it's my treasure, I suppose." Serah gave a little chuckle, inhaling the aromas around them most appreciatively. The smell of sweets was somehow warming, allowing Serah to momentarily forget her cold, reminding herself to remember the path to frequent this section more.

Tesla nodded appreciatively, understanding the woman's proud sentiment entirely. "Word of mouth is a powerful tool," she agreed, "and I'm always curious to know of my neighbors!" At the inquiry of the Cliffs, she gave a soft laugh and shook her head, lightly guiding the woman around another tight gaggle of people and closer to the stall in question. "Oh heaven's no, though I'd love to visit! I'm on the northwest bend of the shore. Any further north and we'd be in the ocean!" Laughing lightly in her bemused manner, she finally drew them both to a stop by the warm, inviting set-up, the smell of sweetness not too overwhelming but undeniably rich.
"That sounds fascinating and...rather complicated to someone as simple as me." The farmer's daughter passed a grin to her companion, releasing her hold on the woman to reach into her own satchel. "I wouldn't think of something like that - taking the remains of what is to make something new entirely - certainly not to that degree!" She couldn't help but ponder if the scrap she had in her own farmstead was worthwhile for anything: broken machine parts, old antiques and Gods-know-what-else were strewn in various sheds on the property. It would be a most interesting clean up, donating old tractor parts to be turned into the likes of earrings and necklaces! "I'd love to see your wares sometime. I don't own much in the way of jewelry." Or perhaps it was more accurate to say she owned little to none at all; a necklace passed down by her mother, tucked in a drawer where it wouldn't get caught while she was working, but nothing else. Her family's wealth had always been invested back into the farm.
Those thoughts were easily set aside as the modest line in front of the cart moved, earning an excited little smile from the red-headed woman as she withdrew her coin purse. "Such simple pleasures, hot cocoa -- it's something I can make at home but they add a little something special here. See--" she pointed with one finger to the hand-written menu, "--they add flower petals to some, and sweeteners like honey! I like the lavender with a spot of cream. It's what I imagine drinking spring would taste like." Tesla uttered a faint, girlish giggle at her confession, having the grace to look mildly embarrassed. It was a childish notion but it was the truth. "They're all refreshing. Maybe I should try something different this time - perhaps you can pick one for me?"

"Safely on land. The lady ocean is approachable but I wouldn't test my luck against her." Serah admitted, anybody who lived on the shroes knew the risks of doing so. She couldn't help but greedily take a few more breaths of the pastry filled air, her eyes closing briefly, as if she were placed in heaven. For a female, this probably was an acceptable substitute in their lifetime pursuit .. Rather, it was much more than acceptable. Unfortunately, all that was good in life required a sharp degree of moderation. Before their weight became too unbalanced.
"Come see my wares anytime. I'll make sure to give you a large discount." She winked, her beach glass earrings dangling prettily. "I also take commissions for customization, if you'd like." Serah offered, brought forth to a stop in a line before a specified cart. She followed Tesla's finger, her eyes opening wide in fascination. She had never seen or heard of adding petals or honey to tea .. It wasn't easy to keep such commodities, even on the gentle shores. The shores were a rough place to live after all, for natural wildlife .. but in town, it was an entirely different story. "Drinking spring? That sounds lovely-- Like a fairy tale." As Tesla spoke, Serah became flustered when offered the choice to choose.
"...! "
Her hands lifted in a nervous gesture, shaking a little. "W-Well .. " She had the look of a little girl with too many choices on her hands, her eyes traveling wildly across the menu to find something appealing. Her eagerness, bundled with nervousness, rolled off in large waves. "Oh! Why don't we trade off? I'll pick something new for you and you pick something new for me. We can sample each other's if you'd like?"
Serah ran her hind delicately along the menu, until her finger stopped at a long name. She nodded, confirming her decision, turning her back and head slightly back to Tesla with a sunny smile.
"This sounds sweet. Snow Geisha White tea .. I think I'll settle on that for you!"

Tesla looked startled, her green eyes opening widely at the generous offer. "You are entirely too kind," she replied in a demure tone, utterly chuffed, "but I would love to see all the same." Pausing, the red-head looked momentarily wistful. "I have a lot of sisters -- handmade jewelry would make me their favorite, wouldn't it?" And she grinned a little at that, imagining each one of their faces lighting up to have anything so shiny and precious. For children who hoarded things like old coins and glass jars that were pretty in color, she thought it might just be the perfect gift idea, one she felt was very fortuitous. Who would have thought a supply run would yield a friendly face and a means to spoil her siblings?
A soft laugh escaped her as she was brought back to the here-and-now, eyes lowering for a moment in humility. "I will do my best, then, to pick something acceptable." With Serah's growing anxious excitement, so too did Tesla's, feeding off of her new friend and easily getting caught up in her emotions. Generally one to be the rock to her family, it was nice to have a simple, girlish excitement with another. At the other woman's claim, Tesla's face lit with interest and excitement. "Rose and cranberry with a petal taste, now that is exotic! How wonderful!" It was something she might have skipped over normally herself, but with her companion's decisive smile, she could only return it with joy.
But now it was her turn! Returning her attention to the menu, she scoured the contents until an interesting combination caught her eye. Something warm, something home-y and rich in flavors. "Ah, how about this one?" Tesla tapped her index finger on one of the items. "An almond and hazelnut hot cocoa with peppermint! That ought to keep you warm!" Dipping her fingers into her satchel, she plucked out her purse and held it firm against her palm, not wanting to drop it in her sudden but welcome excitement. "After this, then, where are you off to?" As much as she was enjoying her new-found company, she didn't want to take too much her time. After all, working women like themselves often ran a tight ship.

"Sisters? Perfect time for them to pick out that one special article that decides your taste in life~ I assure you, my handmade jewelry is sibling-durable." Serah's hand crossed over to her other wrist, fingering the bracelet with three stones, in matching colors to her sunset hair. It was one of her first, she remembered fondly .. Back when she was a kid. Which explained the lopsidedness and the slight fingerprints in the silver clay structure. She ran her hand along the menu, on the item that tesla picked out.
"That is delightfully warm. It also sounds quite sweet .. right up my alley." Serah tried to imagine what it might taste like but she couldn't summon an image or taste in her head. That was the fun of it, she guessed with a anxious anticipation. They inched closer and closer in line, to the stall as drinks were passed down the cherrywood counter to other blissful customers. "I'm off to .. purchase a cloak for the coming winter and several other supplies for my store. The basic necessities, I would have to term." Serah did have to run a tight ship, not having the luxurious opportunity to head into town often enough for her tastes. But she didn't prefer to live a life within it, the noise too much for her taste.
They were nearly in line at this point, Serah felt her usual patience waning in leaps. "As for you?" Serah asked in return, following Tesla's example to extract her wallet from a fitted pocket within her dress.

With a chuckle, Tesla cast Serah an appreciative glance. "That's a very convincing slogan, I'm sold." The idea of getting her sister's jewelry - or maybe even matching jewelry - was a giddy notion, already able to see their eyes lighting up and seeing them show them off to show how adult and mature they were to be entrusted with such a gift. Tesla smiled softly to herself, eyes briefly distant as she thought of the siblings she didn't get to see often at all. She wondered if the youngest ones even remembered her.
Serah's voice drew her attention back to the present, a more pleased expression curving her lips at the praise of her choice. It was one she'd have to sample herself when she came back, if it was still seasonally appropriate. "Yes, I remember the cloak," she laughed; it was part of why she'd stopped to begin with, "but you buy supplies here too?" To this, she was interested, but time was of the essence and it was one quickly draining for the two almost-strangers. Tesla could only hope she'd have a friend out of the random happenstance. "I see -- and you put that away, Serah, my treat, I insist." Nodding towards the procured wallet, she gave a brief, cheerful grin, already sorting out the appropriate amount by feel with her fingers in her own pouch.
"As for me, I suppose I'll visit the tinder section, see if I can't find appropriate wood for the porch and maybe get a head start on a weak part of the roof. Of course, this type of shopping is always about putting down the money and returning later to pick up the goods. I'm prone to large orders." The farmer laughed a little, abashed and amused at the same time. "I've only so much time to work on household duties before the soil thaws enough for tilling." Biting her lip - hoping she hadn't gone off rambling - she stepped forward once the slow pokes in front of them had moved and quickly put in the orders, sliding the appropriate amount across the worn kiosk top.
"But not until we've our drink," she added as she looked to the sunset-haired woman with a smile. "And then I shall see you on your way to warmth."

Serah took Tesla's insistence to pay with the mixture of unease, guilt, relief and gratitude, the well-used reaction as she stood behind Tesla. Her pocket filled once more, her hands linking together idly. "Large orders, huh. That's how it is with the mineral supplies .. Of course, that means, keep coming until the right gems are found. Of course, then I need to look for other materials .." She trailed off, both females making their to-do lists. Her mind wandered back to the topic on hand, frowning slightly. "Your work depends on the weather .. that's quite tricky." Serah mulled over the possibilities of centering her work around it, finding the idea difficult to determine or imagine. Whether the sun shined or the clouds decided to rain, all her work was done indoors regardless. She hung back as Tesla put in their orders, returning her smile.
"Thanks. I assume we can spare a few more minutes .. Although it looks like the tables are filled," she gestured to the others seated, glancing at a rounded stone bench that circled a large tree. "If you don't mind, we can sit over there for a few minutes to enjoy our drinks and then part ways?"
It sounded like a good plan.
Serah's bag was glowing slightly. Like a light had gone off. Chrystali IDK WHERE TO HEAD BUT TAG UMM DID YOU WANT TO DO A BRIEF DUST THING or end it XDD sylth is just glowing in her bag because he wants to >_>

"I can't even fathom!" Tesla sighed in a manner that indicated the idea of matching gem to metal was a romantic notion. "You've an eye for beauty if you can take something as vibrant as a gem and match it to not be overwhelmed by its setting. Me, I'd just..." She looked down briefly to her gloved hands, knowing the callouses underneath were not so feminine nor dainty enough to be handling things as precious as jewels, "...stare at them, I suppose. Put them away until I could stare some more." She chuckled a little, knowing she must have sounded ridiculous but it wasn't her element. Tesla tilled the earth, and the only bounty she reaped was that which she grew and tended to with her own hands. She wouldn't even know where to begin to find the wealth within the land.
The gentle askance for a continued conversation made her smile wide and warm, expression rather touched by Serah's continued hospitality and kindness. She knew she could be awkward at the best of times but it didn't seem to bother the jewelry-maker, for which she was intensely grateful. "Sounds delightful -- it's best not to walk with a hot drink anyway, not with how bustling these streets are!" The red-head collected the drinks once they were passed over the counter-top, handing Serah her own with a downwards glance before heading to the indicated bench.
Setting her satchel aside, Tesla crossed her legs over strong thighs and sat at a comfortable angle, not quite slouching but not very refined or potentially even lady-like. A long, slow sip was taken of the the delicious concoction, savoring the distinct flavors: the cherry and rose blended smoothly, the cranberry giving it just enough of a tart reminder of winter that it was still warming, the tea mellowing all the tastes into something extraordinary. She was very pleased, giving Serah a very happy smile and lifting her makeshift cup. "Your choice is amazing," she intoned, though as soon as the words left her lips, her expression faltered a little. She saw it again -- a glow just out of the corner of her eye, a golden halo around the sunset-haired woman's bag. The farmer thought she'd been seeing things the first time, as looking directly hadn't yielded much result, but she was certain this time.
"A-and, if you don't mind me prying just a wee bit -- " she grinned, vaguely apologetic but far more interested and curious, " -- but why is your bag...glowing?"Random Artist SURE. 8U *SHOT* Though Tes wont ask much other than where she got it, since I don't want too much new information introduced now!
