The weather was cool, and the sun was just breaking the distant horizon. Amira liked the cooler weather because it meant she could snuggle next to the love of her life, Amenophis. He'd been with her through so much in just a short time, but he understood her like no other stallion would. She had been thinking about a lot lately, but mostly about her love for him.
This morning was a little different than most because she awoke earlier than normal. She got up from their normal sleeping spot ans wandered to see what the morning had brought. They had yet to see the first real signs of winter, but scent was in the air, and the brisk wind told it to be true.
As Amira wandered around, although not far from her companion, she wondered what he thought about while he rested. "I wonder what he dreams about." She asked herself. she spoke in a tone that was soft enough for only her to hear, or at least she hoped that to be the case.

 A black figure crept closer and closer to Amira, panic seized him. He began to thrash about in his sleep, as he continued to dream, he tried to warn Amira to run but she couldn't hear him. Amenophis watched in horror as the black figure got closer and closer until finally Amira, his lover and whole world was lying dead before him. With a sharp intake of breath, Amenophis bolted awake and looked next to him where Amira should be laying. When she wasn't there, he got choked up with fear, he got to his feet and looked around in a panic trying to make sure she was safe.
Once his eyes landed one her, he breathed a sigh of relief, it had been a nightmare of his own. It seemed that since he found out about her nightmares, that his own fears seemed to play with his mind. "Amira, are you alright?" He decided to ask her and make sure that no harm had come upon her while he had slept. Amenophis finally relaxed a little because it appeared that she was okay and that nothing had happened. But just to be safe, he wanted to do something to make sure nothing happened. He just didn't know what it was exactly yet.

As soon as Amira heard her love's voice, she could tell something was wrong. Amenophis generally seemed like the type of stallion that didn't let things get him that upset or scared. "Im' fine" she replied to him as soon as he asked. She knew that any hesitation in her answer might scare him more. She galloped back over to him as she answered, wanting to be by his side. Amira nuzzled Amenophis as soon as she got close.
"Boy, you sure slept later today than you normally do." She said. She wanted to ask what was wrong, but thought changing the subject quickly might help him. "With all that energy you have now, what do you want to do today?" she was still concerned, but figured a later time to talk might be better, unless he wanted to talk about it.

Amenophis calmed himself quite a bit once he felt the touch of Amira. It felt right to him and peace almost seemed to fill his entire body. He smiled at her, he didn't want to talk about it right then but knew that she was probably curious. "It was a nightmare, you were killed." He didn't want to go into everything with her but figured that the main points would suffice. He turned his head and pulled out one of his feathers that was attached to his mane and nudged it towards her. He was hoping that she would take it so that he could at least explain.

Amira began to lower her head even more as she nuzzled. She saw his smile out of the corner of her eye, but could feel that it was forced. "Oh No!" she gasped as he spoke. She couldn't get any more words out right then so she continued to nuzzle and comfort him. Amira felt truly horrible that her situation had been passed on to him. She could apologize to him, but she figured that he would comfort her and tell her it was ok anyway. She never meant for her lover to be going through this as well, but they were a team, together for eternity, and as much as she didn't want him to go through it, she knew that a day might come where the roles were reversed.
As all of these thoughts ran through her head, she felt Amenophis' sudden movement. She wondered what he was doing. As she saw him tug the feather out of his mane and nudged it towards her, the wonderment became more. "What....is....this?" She questioned hesitantly.

Amenophis stuck the feather in her mane just behind her ear, he figured she could move it about however she wished later. "I just want you to have something that is precious to me, so when you are afraid or in pain you can have something to hold onto until I reach you." He spoke the words with honesty, it was how he truly felt inside, but he wondered if it was indeed a bit much. He never wanted to be apart from her and Amira end up being scared or get injured but the feather being with her did give him just a little bit of peace. "I do not recall how I came about the feathers I wear, but I know that they are very important to me. It feels right to give it to you, I feel better giving it to you Amira." He smiled at her, the smile was a small one but it was a true smile because he was indeed starting to feel better.

Amira just stood there as her beloved companion moved closer. She could feel the compassion in his movements as he placed the feather in her mane, and she had never been able to feel this before. She knew that he meant the world to her, and he had expressed similar feelings, but to give her a piece of him, this was the truest form of love, at least in her eyes.
As Amenophis talked about the feather being there to comfort her until he could be there, she felt tears swell up in her eyes. She tried to hold them back. She was so touched by his actions. She tried to muster up words, but nothing came to her lips. She want you say a thank you, or something, but just nodded.
As the stallion finished up his words, she finally let words pass her lips. "I love you." crossed her lips. As she said so, she felt the swells of tears go away. She had only hoped that he had not seen the happiness in her eyes. He might think it was more sadness, and she didn't want to worry him any more.

Amenophis had seen the tears form in her eyes but he chose to ignore them hoping that they were in fact not more tears of sadness. When the tears vanished, his smile seemed to widen, he was glad that she was okay. He just hoped that the future would have high pity on them and go easy on them and their future off spring. "And I love you my dear." He nuzzled her neck once more before stepping farther back from her. "What would you like to do today, I think we could go on a venture, go far away from this place and see a little more of this world?" He just made the suggestion, he didn't mind the idea of spending a lot more time with her and the idea of seeing more of the mysterious world with her. Maybe they could find something to help the both of them?

Amira enjoyed the nuzzling from Amenophis. It always reassured her, even though she really didnt need it, that he was going to be by her side, forever. She felt this feeling every time she was around him. She gave him a quick nuzzle back before answering him.
"An adventure?" she asked. "What did you have in mind? Anything in particular?" Amira truly didn't care what they were doing, where they were going, or how they were going to do it, as long as she was beside Amenophis,

Amenophis nodded his head as he thought about where they could possible venture to, his mind was blank though because he had no idea of anywhere else. "I have no idea, I don't know anywhere else." He spoke honestly, he had nothing to hide, besides what was there to be ashamed of because he didn't know anywhere outside of where they stayed all the time? He didn't think there was anything to be ashamed of that fact, he smiled at her, he wondered if she had some knowledge of the other lands. "Do you know of the other lands? I think I might have a memory problem because it seems my parents are not the only thing I can't seem to recall." He frowned at the fact because other than Amira and the fact that he met her, he couldn't recall anything else.

Amira was set back for a minute. Amenophis had suggested am adventure, and she had thought he had an idea of what to do, or where he wanted to go. She was not upset, or mad, and surely didn't want Amenophis to be ashamed, she was just shocked that he would make a suggestion without some sort of idea. She nuzzled him once more and then looked into his eyes. "I don't have any ideas off the top of my head," Amira stated. She was thinking more about just being with him, no matter where they were or what they were doing. "You know, we could venture up to the mountain side. I have never really been out there." she added.
Suddenly a sense of sorrow fell over Amira as the stallion talked about his possible memory issues. She felt ashamed about the thoughts she had about him not knowing where to adventure. "What makes you feel that w ay and say that?" Amira asked. She knew that it would be hard for him to answer. After all, how would he know what he was forgetting.

"Mountain side it is then my lady." He smiled at her and nuzzled her once more before separating himself from her and beginning to walk away. Her next set of words in the form of a question seemed to freeze him mid step. "Because I do not know anything on some things and certain days. I do not recall my family or if I have any but I would have to if I am here, and I do not even remember walking the lands to reach this place..." He found himself trailing off, he had no idea as to even where they even were except for the landscape, he wondered if she even knew the answer. He was beginning to wonder about things he had no answer for, he even wondered if he should be questioning such things. Amenophis said nothing more but he continued to walk forward, he had no idea where the mountains were even located and it was beginning to make him upset, he was starting to feel ignorant or rather smarter than he should?

Amira felt bad for opening up teh subject, but she sincerely wondered. She loved him with all her heart, and any things that bothered him, she wanted to be able to help in any way. "I'm sorry for bringing this up." she said as she lowered her head. "But anyway," she started, trying to change the subject, "The mountain side is a great place to spend the day." she followed along, hoping that changing the subject back would cheer him back up. "I wonder what type of adventure we'll run into."

Amenophis loved that she tried to help him but sometimes help wasn't always available to him. "It is okay, you mean well." He smiled at her, sincerely; he meant the words he spoke with all his heart. Amenophis had no idea what it was that he could do without her; she really seemed to keep him grounded. "I can't wait to see what is out there; I just hope that I can remember." He began to tease, sometimes it didn't bother him to joke or talk about his problem, but sometimes it did. Then other times, they were a different story all together, he ignored his problem and wished that it didn't exist. It was just recently that he even decided to include Amira in on his little secret; he had begun to feel guilty about hiding it from her.

Amira nuzzled the stallion, comforting him and staring into his eyes. She found herself doing this every now and again, just focusing on her true love. She knew that he knew what she meant, and would never hold it against him, but she felt the need to apologize anyway.
"So whenever your ready, we can start up the mountain.' Amira said, hoping to jump the conversation again. She knew that they would have plenty of time to talk to him, and he would in time open up even more, and hopefully remember more about his family. "What path did you want to follow?" she asked, unsure if there was even more than one.
