Underneath the light of the crescent moon of late fall Vivace stood out like a sore thumb. The world all around him was painted various shades of dark and there he was, a walking moonbeam. His long braid was wound around his neck as wandered over the grass of the floodplains. His steps appeared erratic but upon closer inspection they were just moving in rhythm to the song he sang.

"Oh there's sober men & plenty and drunkards barely twenty. There are men of over ninety that have never yet kissed a girl. But give me a rambling rover fae Orkney down to Dover." It was a foreign ditty that he'd picked up from an overseas traveler. He didn't really understand what it meant. The names and words were unfamiliar, he didn't even know what a kiss was, but it was a lively tune and it suited him.

This was the fourth time he'd slipped away from his herd and the training he was meant to be undergoing. Eventually he would go back to them again, it was his family after all, but right now he was going to enjoy his time. He always did. "We will roam the country over and together we'll face the world!" The song wasn't yet over but he still stopped. He tossed his mane out of his eyes and looked around. Now, where exactly was he?

In the darkness of night he had unknowingly wandered in a direction unfamiliar to him, sending the youthful stallion into a land he could never decipher. How was he suppose to find his way home when he could hardly see a tree five feet in front of him. It wouldn't have been so bad had it been a clear night but the swampy lands left a hanging fog that left Adakias helpless. There would come clear patches in the dank lands that the gem studded boy could see through but then came another foggy cloud. Never the less, it was clear to him that he was lost.

In the faint distance there was a song bird crying a cheery tune. How out of place it sounded in the dead of night in a place like this. Almost eerie. Though, going towards the song seemed to be far better than away from it. The closer he got the more Adakias could make out words. This wasn't some little birdy he was chasing in the dark. It was an actual Soquili like himself, hopefully. He stumbled through the dark, trying to keep on land until finally he broke free of fog and there, standing in the openness was a winged stallion with Rapunzel long hair. "Good evening," he hesitated for a moment before his greeting. It was safe, right? He didn't look like the blood thirsty type with the way he falsely illuminated the scene. Though, it wouldn't be the first time Adakias was wrong.

"Huh?" Vivace turned his head to see who was speaking to him. The moment he moved, however, he suddenly lost the ability to see due largely to a veil of light blue fringe. He frowned and shook his head to at least be able to see out of one eye. That was the trouble with long hair, it was impossible to work with. "Good evening!" He replied once he was finally able to identify with whom it was he was speaking. It was another soquili or it was a mass of floating rocks and hair. One seemed reasonably more likely than the other. Besides, in the faint light he was scattering off his pelt he could make out a faint outline of a horse.

"I don't suppose you know where I am?" He asked hoping that this was a local he was talking to. If worst came to worst he could always fly himself home but that always proved to be a bit of an adventure. He had to fly high enough to keep his tail, or mane should it unwind, from snagging on something but at those heights it was a bit dangerous to lose sight. The complications kept him mostly on the ground without encouragement.

Adakias was a little relieved to hear the sound of a cheery voice from this distant stranger. Though, what else could he have truly suspected from the sweet voice of the tune that echoed in the air. A flip of Adakias hair and he was off, cantering up to the stallion with a look of happiness. At last, he wasn't alone in this shroud of darkness any longer. "How lucky am I? I thought I'd be wandering around all night," he let out a cool chuckle before coming to stop a mere five feet from the male. Smarter Soquili would have kept a distance from those who they weren't familiar with but Kias was certainly a notch or two below smart.

Here was the gem covered stallion hoping he had found a friendly face who could guide him in the right direction, but just to his dismay the winged boy asked if he knew where he was. Him! Not Adakias, but the blue pelted equine instead. "Oh, you're asking me? I was actually hoping that you would know where I was!" He gave another laugh, only this time it bubbled out in a nervous fashion. Still lost, only at least now he had somebody to take his mind off of what might be waiting for him when he got home. A very upset Louvia would surely be waiting to scold him for his absence. Adakias tried not to be rude and stare but his eyes kept lingering around the long braid of hair that the Soquili in front of him wore so well. "Is that really all yours?" he asked with a smirk painted on his face, eyebrows slightly raised.

Well that was a bit of a let down. Not only was this not a local but he was just as lost as Vivace was. The dark stallion laughed. Vivace joined in wholeheartedly as though they had just shared some secret joke. However, he failed to notice that the stranger did not, in fact, find the situation as amusing as Vivace did. "Aaaah, no. No. I don't know where we are either." He concluded merrily with a hint of laughter remaining in his voice.

To him not knowing where he was was far from a major setback. He had options even if they weren't his first choice and there was no rush to get around to those. It would be better to relax and enjoy the company while he had it.

"This?" He asked lipping at his braid. "Oh yeah, it's all mine. Stretches on to the sunset and beyond~" This was not the first time his hair had drawn curious looks. He just had so much of it. And if it wasn't his hair it was the icy chips on his face and shoulders. And if it wasn't those it was the fact that he was singing and well. Really he just seemed to be the kind of stallion that drew attention without trying.

Adakias was happily distracted from haunting thoughts of Louvia and what she might have to say about his dunce-like ways and how he always got himself lost. The curious thought of how Vivace's hair got to these unruly lengths was mind blowing. What happened when his hair grew out? Did he have to undo his impressive braid and intertwine the strands all over again? How long did that take? Surely it took longer and longer each and every time. The thoughts continued to bounce and tumble around Adakias' head until he seemed distant and dazed, staring at the blue strands in concentration.

Finally, the strangers words snapped him out of such a light trance and brought him back to his conscious awareness. "Well, that is something to be proud of. Do the fairies help you braid it when it comes time?" he tilts his head, not a hint of a joke in his voice. More like eagerness. He was quite a believer in magic and supernatural stuff. So much in fact that he preached to others of sweet stories or wicked tales that he hears from around the lands. "I do hear that they're quite good at doing hair and such. Such tasteful little things."

For a moment Vivace assumed the crystal backed stallion was joking. He thought he was just very good at keeping his voice even. It was because of this that Vivace's first response was to start laughing again. He found that this stallion had quite the sense of humor.

And then he continued and Vivace's laughter trailed off. He looked the stallion up and down before smiling nervously. He was serious? This was new. It wasn't that Vivace firmly disbelieved in magic creatures like faeries it was just that he'd never met anyone who seriously thought they were real. Usually they were only referred to in a joking manner.

"Ummm...normally I can find some human to do it...and if I can't then I convince the others in the herd to help." He wanted to keep joking but he wasn't sure how to in a situation like this. Most days he would tell stories about how hard it was for a horse to braid hair and how messy it would look. Right now he wasn't sure it would go over well.

Vivace's sudden actions made Adakias quirk an uncertain smile. Perhaps this stallion just found everything humorous, and that certainly wasn't a bad thing. It was never wrong to find happiness in everything. What left him feeling a bit hesitant was the fact that his laugh soon trailed off into seriousness. Nobody has ever bluntly informed the purple coated male that his beliefs were nothing but fantasy. It there ever came a time to defend his realm of magical creatures he just wouldn't know how to do so. He had no proof nor did he know of anybody who did. Though, he knew that just because you couldn't see something didn't mean it wasn't real.

The talk of humans fortunately distracted Adakias from further thoughts on the subject of his mythical friends. "Humans? Oh, I used to know of a human who took good care of my family, though I can't say I've seen one recently." He eyed the braid a bit enviously and wished he to could do such spectacular things with his mane but short hair was probably a thousand times more tricky than long heavy hair to maneuver. "You're apart of a herd? Tell me what that's like. I've only ever really known my family, though the thought of being apart of something bigger interests me greatly." He gave a soft, easy going smile at the male.

Vivace could breathe easily now. Humans. This was a normal subject that he could handle. Pretty much everyone he ran into had one experience with a human or another. They weren't always good things but at least it was a familiar topic. "Humans can be real nice to us can't they?" He chimed in bobbing his head up and down with a smile.

Then, almost in the blink of an eye, the subject had changed again: to herds.

A broad grin swept over his face. Ah, a topic he could talk all night about. If there was one thing he knew a great deal about it was herd life and more specifically his herd and all the members. "Well you know, most of our herd is family." He said settling his weight assuming this was going to take a while. "Oh yeah. My herd goes way back to my great-grandmother Avalokiteshvara and my great-grandfather Scythe. We have something like 40 members including me. Most of us are related but there are a few like Revyra and Utena that just sort of joined." Several of his family members were part of the sister herd but he didn't need to get into that.

"Herd life's pretty good. You have a lot of company almost all the time and you're never too far from a friendly face. It's safer in a herd, we have a bunch of soquili protecting. We've also got healers, entertainers, that's me by the way, spiritual leaders. All sorts of stuff. most of the time it's a good but some time's we have to go to lessons or..." His face suddenly went a bit dark as he remembered. Herd life was good but recently it had become a bit more dangerous. All of the members were being targeted. There had been attacks. People had been hurt.

His sister...

"I bet it's nice living in a small group too though! What do you think?" He asked slapping his smile back onto his face. It wasn't good to think of such depressing things.

Adakias gave a gentle smile and nodded along with the stallions question of humans and how they treated Soquili well. Most of the time anyway. There were stories of wicked humans but Adakias had never seen one in his existence so perhaps they weren't all to real. Funny huh? How one stallion could believe a while mess of dangerous mischievous creatures that he had never before witnessed but when it come to seeing something bad in a creature so close to home he couldn't do it. He had spent time with a human before and to view them as cruel just didn't feel right. At least with his current perspective. Adakias always wanted to find the good in things.

The white and purple haired stallion stared on as this magnificent half breed explained his herd life and all it's wonders. Oh, it sounded as sweet as heaven. A sanctuary of family and friends and now the young gem studded male was curious as to why his family had never been part of a herd. It sounded perfect for his mother and father. "Is it difficult... to join one of these herds?" he had a curious yet cautious look about him. he didn't want to be dragged into anything without family consent.

Though before his question was answered Vivace asked one of him. One that made his mind itch. "Living in a small group? I suppose it's... well... it has it's ups and downs. Sometimes it's nice to have time to think, pretend, hunt without a bunch of blabbering following at your footsteps, and then there's times when... when you just wish you had somebody to talk to. Somebody who understood. I'm sure you have many close friends who you can speak with in your herd yes? That is what family is for after all..." but then why couldn't he speak to his own blood. It was just difficult from being so distant for so long. Not to say he didn't enjoy his parents company. The difficult things in life were just hard to talk about.
