They had been left in the forest, to weak yet to really move on their own. That was what would truly be their downfall. Mitsu had heard the noise before she even saw what was causing it. The woosh as flames consumed everything in their path. The next thing she felt was the growing heat and she looked up to see the flames were creeping their way. She was terrified as she tried to climb to her feet but was really only able to get to her hands and knees. The flames were coming in too fast now though not fast enough to kill them quickly by any means.

The werewolf had turned to Shun, the terror and fright easy to see in her gaze. She called out to him, or remembered doing so. They needed to run, to escape, but the flames were already closing in. Mitsu let out a scream as the fire licked at her clothes and skin. It had been so painfully slow, what had only lasted minutes felt like hours as the flames had encased her burning everything to black. Finally, in mercy, she could feel her body giving out and everything went dark.

Waking up in the nurses office had been a blur to her mind. It was almost like a dream. What had been going on was hazy, though she knew something was wrong. Students were crowded on one side of the room, she seemed to recall seeing Jericho, Christof, Lizzy, Xiu and a few others. On a good day Mitsu might have went over to see what was up, maybe offer some comfort if she could but she was shaking, trembling, and mostly in shock at what had just happened. Her skin tingled with the remaining sensation of being burned though to look there was no damage to be seen.

Dazed, Mitsu rose to her feet, though a bit unsteadily, to look for Shun but really couldn’t recall what happened next. She had taken one step, teetered, taken another, and everything had gone black again. The dreams she had where thankfully few and far between. Most consisted of fire though some were of the canyon and another one was new. It revolved around the words the horseman had said and what Cael had spoken. ‘You killed Red.’ It had been their fault. Her dream started in the dark but as light flooded the area she realized she wasn’t alone. Red cloaked figures stood all around her and for a moment she wondered if it was the memorial service. She then stiffened remembering the cloaked figured that had attacked them, eyes darting from one to the next as they turned to face her.

Hunters. All of them. They pushed their hoods aside and Mitsu realized she was completely alone in the company of Hunters but they didn’t look at her like they wanted to strike. It was like they were waiting for something. She was panicked though, taking a step away from the scene.

“Sir?” One asked. “What’s wrong?”

Mitsu froze, blinked. Normally she would have been too frightened to catch it but….had they just called her Sir? Confused she looked down wondering what they were seeing to make that mistake when she realized she was wearing a white coat trimmed in gold. She moved her hands to pat herself down when she realized she was holding something and looked over to see a scythe in her hands. Not just any scythe though, the one that belonged to the Death Hunter.

Mitsu’s eyes flew open, though she surprisingly didn’t wake with a start. Her body was far too tired for that. Crimson eyes slowly took in the familiar room that wasn’t hers, trying to piece together what had happened. “S..Shun?” Her voice was hoarse and dry making her wonder how long she had been asleep.

That death likely took the cake for worse death ever as far as what Shun had experienced. It was slow and excruciating. Outside of his own cries of pain, he could hear the others around him, Mitsu especially. He wanted to put her out of her misery so that she wouldn't have to suffer this, but he didn't have the strength to do so.

Soon after they had arrived in the office, he noticed that the girl had passed out. She was fine otherwise, so he took the initiative to take her back to a real bed to rest. He thought of bringing her to her own room, however he quickly nixed this idea. There were many things on his mind, and he really wasn't in the mood to get pounced and attacked by a cat while he was tired and carrying the unconscious girl. So he took her to his.

The next few days had rolled on by with him watching over her. He was worried at how long she was asleep. In fact, the Reaper was about to take her back to the nurse to see if there was something wrong, but that was when she had awaken.

"Mitsu? You're awake.." he sighed with relief. He had been across the room, taking care of one thing or another when he heard the girl speak up. The Reaper moved on over to the bed, sitting down and placing a hand onto her forehead.

"How are you feeling?" he asked. Though she was awake now, he was still rather worried for her well being. Aside from the concern lining his face, he looked fairly worn in general. The horsemen's words were haunting him to an extent.

Her head turned toward the direction of the reaper's voice, crimson eyes still lost in confusion. The puzzle she was trying to fit together was missing pieces and she couldn't quite make sense of the picture. "I..." She paused like she didn't even know the answer to that before she finally answer. "Tired." Was finally her simple reply, a hand coming up to rest against the one of her forehead.

"W..what happened? How long was I out?" She started to question hoping this would help her piece together some things. "I had...the strangest dreams..There was so much fire." Though as she stared at the reaper her mind was starting to work around what had been a dream and what hadn't. Tears began to gather in her eyes remembering the pain she had felt, the fear that had gripped her before the fire consumed her. A shiver ran down her body as her eyes clenched tight. "I...It wasn't a dream was it? We died?" She choked out, her free hand reaching up to grip Shun's arm.

Shun didn't feel a fever or anything, so that was a good sign. Mitsu was warmer than he was, but he was used to how she was normally supposed to feel by this point.

"It's been a few days.. I was just about to bring you back to Nurse Cricket to see if something was wrong," he frowned before pausing at her question. Closing his eyes for a moment, he nodded slowly.

"We were all killed. We respawned in Cricket's office shortly after, though," he explained quietly, shifting closer to wrap his arms around her as he saw the tears in her eyes.

"Death.. normally isn't that bad. That was... rather slow and painful compared to what I've gone through before."

The fact that Shun had gone through death before seemed to only upset her more. As he wrapped his arms around her she clung to him desperately, the memory of the fire coming back as clear as day. She hid her face in the crook of his neck glad that he was still here, glad that he wasn't gone. That was the last gripping fear that she had before everything went black at first. In that moment would be the last time she would see him.

"I..It was terrible." Mitsu shivered. She never wanted to experience that again but was quickly wondering how plausible that would be. Things were becoming so dangerous.

"It's alright.. we're ok now," Shun whispered while gently rubbing her back. He could feel her trembling. The poor girl must have been hit harder by the death than he could have anticipated. Lightly, he rested his chin onto her shoulder, trying to comfort her.

He wished he could say that would be the last time she would experience death, but he knew that likely wouldn't be true.

"We may die, but we won't stay that way for long. I won't let what happened to Red happen to either of us," he said.

At first Mitsu didn't say anything, she merely huddled into Shun's comforting embrace, allowing the warmth of his presence to ease away her troubles. Or at least some of them. There was a slow nod of sorts as she drew back, eyes looking the reaper over though it seemed she was squinting from time to time. It was possible it was hard to see with teary eyes.

"You're okay right? You aren't hurt?" Her concern for him overrode her worries and fears for the moment, fingers tentatively searching for any damage on his torso.

"I'm fine. Worn, but unharmed. At least physically," Shun said quietly. His pride had been damaged and he still felt ashamed, but that wasn't something that resulted in his death.

"Respawn will usually undo any damage sustained. Not always, but it normally does." he explained. It sounded like this had been Mitsu's first experience with death. If so, that was one horrible way to start dying.

Physically, yes Mitsu could understand that to an extent though from time to time she got a flash of pain, nothing more than a memory of the fire running across her skin as it burned her alive. She looked down at herself and it was like she remember when she woke up in the nurse's office. There was no damage to be seen but that didn't keep her from gently rubbing a hand down her arm trying to shoo away the sensation.

"I...I didn't know. I..I've n-never died before." And the stuttering was back. She had done well to avoid stuttering a lot in the last couple of months but the stress was mounting and her old issue was arising again.

Her mind going back to her dreams Mitsu's eyes closed, her head resting back on the pillow. One hand had never left Shun, she was afraid to let him go least this be a dream and she woke up and he wasn't there. "I don't know if I'll be able to sleep again." A hand came up to rub at her eyes before resting against her forehead like a headache was starting to form.

Shun's expression softened as he heard her speak. No. That wouldn't do. While sleep wasn't quite necessary, he didn't want her to feel worn all the time. That and she'd probably end up like Mot. Aside from that, he didn't want her to be plagued by nightmares every time she did attempt to sleep.

"Even with me here?" he asked, frowning. He wondered if he should contact Xiu, "What if you learn how to control your dreams? It takes some time but.. once you get it down you'd be able to alter the course of what happens. My own nightmares had reduced once I've learned."

He had mentioned it to her once before, but now seemed like a good time to bring it up again.

She resisted the urge to cry again just because of how mentally worn she felt. There were no guarantees now what would happen when she closed her eyes. Before with Shun here she knew the nightmares wouldn't plague her but they were so overwhelming as of late, so pressing she wasn't sure they wouldn't press through the comfort he provided and poison her dreams anyway.

"Control my dreams?" She asked finally pulling her hand away so that she could look at the reaper. "I..I don't really know how." She mumbled.

Well Shun didn't expect Mitsu to know how. If she did, they likely wouldn't be having this conversation.

"I wouldn't expect you to. I... can give a basic explanation, but Xiu will be the one you have to work with more. Basically, once you're in a dream, you need to try and find a way to become.. aware that you are in a dream. And then you need to be able to stay dreaming once you do become lucid. It's not easy, but if you keep at it, you'll get it eventually."

The Reaper lightly ran his fingers through her hair, then looked towards his phone on the nightstand, considering things.

"It's your dream.. once you are able to realize this, you can do just about anything in it."

Mitsu tried to listen and make sense of what Shun was telling her but often, despite how odd her dreams were, she didn't know they were a dream until well after she had woken up. In the moment she was lost in them thinking they were real. Lucid dreaming sounded difficult...

"You really think Xiu can help?" It wasn't that she doubted the ghoul's abilities she just...hadn't experienced them. Not to her knowledge anyway.

"She has helped me," he nodded before reaching for his phone. Shun went on and dialed Xiu's number, waiting for her to answer.

"Xiu? It's Shun. Can you come over today? I need your help teaching Mitsu how to dream lucidly, please," he said quietly. Aside from her dream hopping abilities, she also had that tea that worked well to induce sleep.

Up until the phone call, the baku...hadn't really been doing anything productive. For the past few days, there would be times where she would zone out, wondering what the events that took place would mean for Halloween. Fortunately, before she could get too caught up in these thoughts, Xiu was startled out of her thoughts when her phone rang. She glanced at the screen in confusion--why was Shun calling her, she wondered?--but after another moment or two, she picked up.

Teach Mitsu lucid dreaming? "I...sure, I'll be right over. Give me a few minutes, okay?" Was the lycan having new nightmares now, she wondered? After what had happened, she certainly couldn't blame her. After hanging up, she hurried to her kitchen to brew some tea, pouring it into a thermos when she was done and then heading off to the reaper dorms.

It wasn't long before she arrived, and she raised a hand to rap on the door. "Aniki? Mitsu? Sorry to keep you waiting."
