The day had been long, but highly productive. She met Junko, found her dorm, and even found out that an acting class was going on, and penned that into her list of things to do at her awesome new school. Now? Now was relaxation time. She smiled, sinking deeper into the comfy arm chair in the ghost commons. Only one item remained on her list; meet someone new today.

Amarus' day was also quite productive, for once. She was in a good mood, and carting around some kind of exotic plant, while Crow trailed along behind her. Her essence mimicked that of her Ghost Treat, wisping off in pink-purple light. Her bells jingled as she walked, though her feet never touched the ground. Walking was just another habit she hadn't erased, even if she stepped down on air.
The strange plant seemed to be oozing something that glowed, and every so often Amarus would swish the dirt around to cover the glowing substance. It was probably toxic, possible corrosive, likely very unpleasant. But plants seemed to like Amarus, and so she liked them. Especially flowers, which was perhaps her one extremely girly trait. Amarus wandered into a common room in the ghost dorms, with her plant and Crow in tow, and took up the couch across from the unfamiliar ghost. Amarus put the plant down on the middle seat, and Crow sat on the third seat, leaving Amarus sitting directly across from the blue-toned ghost.
She didn't really say anything, just sat cross-legged on the couch cushion, staring directly at her.
Amarus wasn't really thinking about that. She was thinking about how she hadn't actually managed to catch any of her classes, yet. And that she could really use a nap. Amarus yawned, then went back to staring, silently.

Gene looked at the Treat, blinked, at the plant, blinked once more, then the ghost ghoul, and then blinked once more. Hm, how odd. Maybe she was a little anti-social? Then again, why would she sit right in front of Gene, staring at her? Her yawn was contagious though, causing Gene to put a hand over her mouth as she too gave a yawn. Somehow, just this ghoul's presence, though she seemed a bit off, was relaxing.
"Hi! My name's Gene, you? She leaned forward, offering her hand while asking the only thing she could think to ask in this situation. Well, there was one other thing... "Um, do I have something in my teeth, or something?"

They must be the same age-- or have been once, Amarus supposed-- as the ghoul across from her looked equally young. Her face seemed softer somehow, though; more approachable than Amarus' standoffish, blank expression. Amarus blamed her silver eyes for the cold look she seemed to be so fond of, but it was more that the neutral expression which every face returned to happened to manifest as a sort of haughty, intense look with Amarus. Completely contrary to her calm and level nature.
As soon as Gene addressed her, however, Amarus snapped out of the bored and sleepy state she was in, and her face became significantly less intense. Crow climbed up the back of the couch, holding the plant, and waddled back to Amarus' room with it. Amarus didn't seem to pay it any heed; Crow often did such things, returning home to curl up on her foxfire, Ashbel.
"Nice to meet you, Gene. Amarus," she said, looking at Gene's hand in confusion for a moment before holding out her own, a little quizzically. Had she ever shaken... anyone's hand? But that was a gesture of greeting, right? The girl had such long, pale hair. She looked like a ghost. It was confusing for Amarus, to be a ghost and yet look so unlike what she imagined them to be. In any case, she was what she was. "Something... in your teeth? What? Why would I check your teeth?"
After a while of blank staring again, she said, "Oh. If I was staring, I wasn't looking at you, I was just bored." And her waking hours were a constant struggle to eradicate that boredom. "Are you new here as well?"

Gene had to blink a few times, mind going strangely blank as Amarus spoke. Not looking at her? But her eyes were pretty much boring holes into Gene. Well, that's how it was from Gene's perspective. So weird...
Oh, a question! Shaking her head to clear the sudden drowsiness, the ghost ghoul offered her companion a smile. "Yeah, I'm really new actually. Just moved in today. Oh! Mental note; pick up some decor at the maul tomorrow. "I'm guessing you're pretty new too, yeah? Taken any classes yet? Or done anything exciting?"

Amarus really tended to drift off into her own thoughts, a lot. That was part of the side effect of being a Lotus Eater. Still, the cute ghoul sitting across from her seemed to be disturbed by what she did not think was that strange a behaviour. Amarus quirked a brow, before relaxing into the seat and shifting comfortably. Ah, how many times she had fallen asleep here.
"Welcome, then." Amarus replied. Idly, she noticed the ghoul was feeling sleepy as well. It'd better not turn into a collective naptime. But sleep seemed so wonderful... Amarus shook her head, bells ringing to clear the sleepiness from her brain. The bells were useful, in that way.
She nodded at the ghoul and paused before answering. "Very new, too. No, no classes.. Exciting?" Amarus laughed. Apart from how she got here, little was exciting to her. "I did fight a handsome stranger, that was fun. Destroyed some boxes. Made some friends. Being dead could be worse. What about you? Interested in any of the classes?"
