User Image It had been... tedious.

Worse than tedious.

Soul-killing.

It wasn't that Romir begrudged the time he had to devote to his duties. After all, he couldn't hope to attract the eye of his dream warrior without proving himself amply able to care for her every need. It was that... Well... It was dreadfully hard to immerse oneself in a proper daydream when cleaning out a den or carrying away the remains of a meal. Who could fashion the proper, romantic responses with a mouthful of broken, dry bones?

A mouthful of flowers would be more useful.

Nosing the last of the bones together, Romir sighed heavily and began digging a hole to bury the remains properly. He didn't mind his position in life, only... It was taking far too long for his Lady to find him. Was he going to have to go hunt for her himself?

Dust tickled his nose, bringing a sneeze as he sat back and shook his head, ears flattening against his skull. It was precisely unromantic realities such as this that were driving him slowly insane. The young wolf chuffed another breath and rubbed his muzzle against his foreleg. Being alone certainly didn't help, either, but the last thing he wanted to do was go seek out a member of his family.

They weren't who he wanted to see. She was who he wanted to see. Ached to see. Longed to see.

...so where WAS she?

User ImageThe pup was on the cusp of adolescence. As such, he was not watched quite as closely as he once was. He had, for this brief moment in his life, something resembling free reign of the pack-lands. He was not really a child anymore, to be coddled and tended. However, he would soon start to really grow up, and then he would have duties to keep him busy and dues to pay.

Not that Lucian precisely minded. His main goal in life was to keep his important females safe, after all, and he had to be here to do that. Of course, as a male, he was not supposed to be protecting them, simply obeying them. He was meant to be a servant, not a warrior. Lucian disagreed. He would find a way to protect them, one way or another. Surely there was something that even he, as a male, could do.

So, he was using this liminal stage in his life to search for an answer to his question. What he found today, however, was a male he had never actually spoken to, spending a lot of time staring off in space, interspersed with random moments of hurriedly poking at his chores. Lucian stopped his progress through the area and stared at the older wolf, wondering just what he was doing and whether there was something wrong with him. He certainly did not seem all there.

Scratching the rest of the dirt over the bones, Romir twisted an ear before looking back. The pup sitting nearby wasn't exactly what he'd hoped to see- certainly wasn't a lovely, lithe warrior regarding him with glowing eyes- but it was better than his father. There was too much confusion about Iosef at the moment for the young wolf to welcome the sight of him. Something just... nagged at him, niggled below his usual haze of rosy daydreams. It wasn't something he wanted to consider, and so he left it be.

"Wandered a bit far out, didn't you?" Romir approached the pup carefully, taking a few light sniffs to determine where the young one had last been. Not only would it destroy any chance he had of catching a warrior's eye, but he would be honestly shattered if a pup wandered into any dangerous area and was hurt. He hoped to father pups himself, one day. Perhaps be a ...no, that was a traitorous thought, and he cut it off.

"Were you hungry? Or just looking for something to do?" The scent registered, and Romir's ears perked slightly as he sat down. "You're Lucian, aren't you?" It wasn't that he had a particular interest in the males of their pack. More that... One should be aware of those who might lure a warrior's attention away from where it needed to be: recognizing the worth of one particular son of Iosef.
