Amarus was trying this new thing: not fighting strangers as a greeting, but rather seeking out others who wished to spar as well. Her body was important to her, ironically; as a ghost, that was a tenuous notion. Nevertheless, she felt like too much idleness would make her weak, soft, unprepared. So she had started to ask around, and started to put the word out: outdoors, sparring. Not to hurt each other, just for fun. So far, no one was either interested or stupid enough to hang out with Amarus there, but she was hopeful that today that would be different.

Mostly because if it wasn't, she would probably pass out right where she was sitting. In the lowest branches of a tree, waiting for absolutely anyone to walk by, so she might ambush them into a sparring match. Just for fun, just something to tide her over until she could really fight someone. It was a shame, she thought, that she wasn't capable of hatred; it would make a fight so much easier to start.

User ImageAksaja was just . . . minding his own business, really. He was still reeling just a bit mentally from everything that had happened during that trip to the stupid haunted house. Everything had gone well at the start, his little team even making it through their first room without any trouble at all. And those Boo-things had been easy to dispatch.

But then later . . . he still didn't want to think about that. Though the piece of horn he had taken from the . . . corpse . . . was resting on a little shelf in his room. He needed to remember what had happened there, needed to know that it hadn't all been some kind of ******** dream. Jack, this was getting complicated.

The lightning dragon didn't even notice the ghoul up in the branches of a tree ahead, too wrapped up in his own thoughts . . . . .

He may not have heard her, but since Amarus was actively on the lookout, she noticed the boil right away. His wings, horns, and general appearance made her wonder if he was a demon, or a monster. So far, almost everyone she had met was one of the two, although recently she'd met a few ghosts. In any case, it was an idle curiosity; so far, Amarus hadn't realized she was supposed to be allied to one type or another, but had approached everyone regardless of their species.

She hooked her legs around the tree branch she sat on, making sure to keep them as tangible as possible, and swung herself down so that she dangled with her arms crossed, facing the boil.

"Lost? Or did you hear?" she asked, her expression blank, skin flickering with the mark of her Lotus Eater essence. In fact, as soon as she swung down, the smoke would follow: Lotus Smoke; clear, odorless smoke given off by her essence which typically had a calming effect, though its degree depended on the recipient. At the moment, it was harmless. It just distorted the sense of time, and helped erase the worries that seemed to be plaguing so many students lately.

Aksaja jumped when suddenly there was a face in front of him - only vaguely getting the impression of pink hair, ghoul's face before he had hopped backwards a few feet, wings fanning out to aid his jump. Then . . . oh. Well, now he felt dumb. "Nah, I'm not lost. You just caught me off-guard. Good job with that by the way if you were trying to scare someone." Didn't really have a problem with admitting that she'd gotten him. He really should have been paying better attention or something.

Then he tilted head slightly to one side as she swung down to the ground, gaze flickering to that smoke then back to her. "Hear what?"

Wings? This boil's wings were fairly impressive. She admired the span of them, saying nothing, her face blank. She unfolded one of her crossed arms, reached up to the branch, and used her grip to unfurl herself from the branch, dropping nimbly to the ground. "Thanks. I wasn't. But that's what ghosts are for, right?" Of course, she was at least a little pleased with herself. Who didn't love to startle others? And Amarus, as a ghost, was uniquely qualified for cheap scares.

"Ah, guess not. I'm trying to find someone to spar with on a regular basis. I get bored, so... this is how I ease my boredom. Sometimes." Otherwise it was causing trouble, getting into places she wouldn't be, and destroying things.

If Aksaja had been a more canid species, his ears might have pricked up at that last sentence. Sparring was something that he rather liked to do - though a lot of the time, he had some trouble finding partners as well. Everyone that he knew was generally so busy and well. It wasn't exactly easy to walk up to a total stranger and ask them to fight with you.

"Really? I could spar with you sometimes if you want," he replied, tilting head slightly. What would it be like sparring with her? He'd never tried fighting a ghost before.

Her silver-blank expression seemed to light up in excitement; well, as far as one might determine her "excitement" to extend, anyway. She wasn't exactly the most expressive ghoul, given her newness to Amityville, her species trait and her Lotus essence' effect: Amarus was made to be calm, without a ripple, like the surface of a mirror.

Sadly, Amarus had indeed walked up to total strangers for a fight, twice now. It was just something she liked to do, but the first time counted a lot more than this one, and that was basically one of her first interactions at the academy altogether. The boil she had sparred with that day told her that it was abnormal behaviour, so she'd had to curb that for a while. The problem was that Amarus was a highly competitive ghoul, and she just needed the drive and ambition of a competition to motivate herself. It didn't need to be a specific type of competition; typically, any would do.

"You'd consider that?" she asked, a smile spreading. "I'll fight you pretty much any time, for fun," she added. It was either fight or nap, so... One was a lot more preferable.
