So with about 30+ episodes under its belt, Yuma is starting not to work out so well. I'll admit at first I appreciated how they finally decided to make a character who didn't win all the god damn time, and I even defended the series when it started from people who were so butthurt that 5Ds ended without giving the show a proper chance, but his personality is becoming irritating.
I'm thinking Shark would've been better as a protagonist at this point. With his dark personality, he would've been good as a character who fell out of the game before the start of the series, only to get roped back into it by Astral and have a redemption story by the end. In that sense, maybe it would've been better to have had him take the emperor's key from Yuma in the beginning.
Yuma is still alright for having that inexperience as a character, along with a never-say-die personality, but with recent episodes he's become a whiner.

i wouldn't redo it, because after 30 episodes in, the main character has already been established. if anything, they do need to make yuma less of a whiney bithc.

Not only is there no point to it, but it looks ridiculous. He gets golden hair and an over-the-top kamehameha draw. Hopefully it's a one time thing for being in the emperor's key, but the new opening makes me doubt that. It would've been much better had they made it so Yuma just gets that blue reverse mohawk in his hair like Astral's and a new card or 2. Instead they go overboard and alienate the people like me who stood up for the new series.

ok well maybe i should talk cause i saw up to 21
ANYWAY
i dont know.... i liked it at first and i thought him always losing was kinda cool, after i saw the epsiode where he "became" the monsters i thought this might be a turning point for his character, but it seems not, i would like to see some sort of progression with it like him still making mistakes but astral having to correct him less AND EVEN MAYBE be impressed with something he couldnt himself have thought of,
HOWEVER keep in mind hes 13 (i think) so obviously hes gonna be whiny and go against someone that tells him to "do this or that" like any teen does. it makes sense for the age i guess.

With Yuma, we had golden glowing, a white spandex suit, super saiyan hair, a giant energy blast draw, and all in the first season (so you can't compare it to Yusei's final serious duel goldness).

It's an anime deal? I'm sorry friend but I see no problem with this. Sure it's silly and goes against the others, but yuma is a kid. So who's to that his power doesn't stem from imagination?

I would have liked it if like he had something like photon change and his deck became like an "Astral" deck to go against Kaito's photons but no we get...that thing.....
