"Mommy~! I want a story! Tell me a story!" a petulant colt's wail sounded in the darkness, a small hoof stomping to get the attention of his mother."Ah, my child...be still, my young son, and listen to your beloved mother..." Vira spoke softly, standing in a copse quietly, a small blanket-covered foal before her. She looked up at the dark night sky, and smiled gently to herself, before looking back down. "I shall tell you a story, a sad, sad story, of beautiful things seen and lost to the humans..."

"Hey! I wanna listen, too!" Odhran said and flopped right down next to Vira's blanket. Settling down, he sighed and looked over at Vira, then snorted. "Humans suck..."

"Well, then, little foal... You're in fine company... This is my son, Ikeru, and my name is Vira...Now then, I'll start my story once a couple more foals gather round... in the meantime, relax..." Vira spoke softly, stretching, and studying the foal curiously, a little surprised that he'd showed up. He had an interesting coat color, too... Fascinating. The variety of Azrein never ceased to amuse her.
"Hello, there..." Ikeru murmured softly, yawning and rising, to shake himself off, careful not to move his blankie. "I'm Ikeru, it's good to meet another boy... All I have is my sister..."

He smirked a little. "Good..I'm tired of being around goody two shoes," he murmured and made a face. "I'm Odhran, but you can call me Orrie, I guess." He eyed the two a little, wondering what Vira's story would be about, then grinned at Ikeru. "Yeah, same here. I'm surrounded by girls all the time. And the freaky kirin thing I know is just stupid," he snorted and rolled his eyes. "He always agrees with everyone. It's irritating."

Natli'Ana, on her daily exploration (much to her parent's dismay at times) was trotting by when she noticed the mare she'd seen yesterday. She hadn't particularly liked her, but she wasn't sure why...and why was a question she always sought to get an answer to no matter what. The fluffy male had warned here there were bad Azrein about, but she had no true idea about what bad exactly was (except she did alot of it without meaning to, it seemed) so that too was a question to get answered. She had no doubt she would one day.
She slowed her trot down to a walk and approached the group cautiously, her head cocked slightly sideways as she studied who was about. More than anything, though, she wanted to shove her head under the blanket and see who it was...surprises were fun!

"Alright children... Listen closely to my words... You may voice your opinions after I'm done, alright?" Vira cast a stern glance around at the two- no, three foals. Her boy, the new boy, and now another girl. "Hello, child, come here... Let me tell you the truth about humans..."
"Orrie... I think you and I will be good friends..." Ikeru grinned, nodding slightly, and then turned his attention to the new foal. He groaned aloud, ears drooping a bit. "Great... a girl..." he sighed a bit, and then offered her a false grin. "Hi, there..." he spoke softly, hiding his emotions with his quietude.

Ana's ears folded back a bit as she hesitated with one hoof still slightly raised before nodding her head and settling herself off the side and back from the two boys who seemed to radiate the idea they didn't like her. "Hi," she said simply, acting slightly bashful before turning her attention back to the mare. She still didn't get a good feeling from all this, but she had to admit her curiosity was peaked. "What's a hoo-mun?" she asked to no one in particular.

Odhran grinned at Ikeru and nodded. "I think you're right," he said and whickered a little, unhappily at the filly that walked up. Great. A girl. He mostly ignored her, feeling the 'goodness' just wafting off of her. Ugh. She didn't even know what a human was. He rolled his eyes and scooted closer to Ikeru to listen to Vira's story.

"A human is a two-legged creature that is ugly, and destroys beautiful things... They're cruel, twisted, and clumsy...Foolish creatures...Now, then... I'll tell you my story...
"It was when I was but a foal, still wearing my own blanket, stolen from the humans by my mother, to keep me warm and safe in her absence... I had been separated from her, and was frightened. Some day, I shall show you the forest I had been lost in, Ikeru, my son... The forest where I met a deer.
"Deer are like you and I- they walk on hooves, but theirs are split into four parts, and their legs are slender, their heads shaped like wedges, and their ears much larger. Their males have magnificent horns, and they have a beautiful walk, one that we Azrien should strive to mimic, for they move fast, and nearly silent.
"Alone, and afraid, I had wandered into the forest, and a doe- that is a female deer, child- had found me, and had been studying me, and I, her, silently, for a time. Deer, I believe, are simpler- they do not speak our language, you see- and she seemed to accept me after a time, and nosed me until I rose, and guided me out of the forest, to these plains...
And sadly... there were humans there, a small group, with arrows... Barbaric creatures, you know. They shot the lovely, kind doe, and took her away from me, and I hid underneath my blanket until my mother found me..."
Ikeru listened quietly, enraptured, and frowned a bit, a little saddened by the story. "What happened after that, ma?"

Alanza squirmed near her brother and listened to the story. "HAI!" she said to the other young Azrein. She was tired of just dealing with her brother, it was good to have some other company. "I'm Alanza, I'm Ikeru's sister." she said nodding underneath her blanket. She had not heard this story before and was upset by it. "But Mother why did they take the doe from you?"

"Because, daughter mine...humans eat deer... They took her away to feed on her, just like a wolf would feed on you or your brother, or any of you children, if it could..." Vira spoke softly, frowning a bit. "They eat beautiful things, and leave the broken remains for the crows and mutts that reside near them..."
"That's... horrible, mom... I wish there weren't any humans on our home... Where'd they come from? Why are they here?" Ikeru asked softly, tapping one hoof quietly.
"I'm not sure where humans come from, baby boy...I just know that I'd do anything to get rid of them..." Vira spoke softly, eyes half closed, and eying the foals gathered around her quietly.

Natli'Ana shivered a bit. "They sound scary, I don't wanna be eated!" In her mind, humans became these things that looked suspiciously like spiders (she wasn't fond of them at all, they creeped her out, and she couldn't think of anything worse than them) that walked on two legs and waved the others around in a sorta crazy-drunken dance as it held little a little filly or foal in one 'hand', while the others were busy flailing or throwing pointed objects at helpless little Azrein as they ran screaming away all while saying 'rawr' as it did so.
Shivering again, she gave the new blanketed filly an awkward smile, "I'm Natli'Ana. It's nice to meet you. You can call me Ana if you wanna." She edged a little closer to the younger one and asked, "Have you ever seen a hoomun?"

"Humans are scary... Very scary. That's why ma and her herd leader want to chase them away..." Ikeru smiles at the filly, nodding. "I don't like humans. The only good on is one far away..." he mutters, and the tossed his head a bit, yawning.
