I have the lovely opportunity to host my very first event. Events I have planned are ; Secret Santa: Run by me Snow Queen !2 days of Christmas: Run by Father Christmas Eight days of Hanukkah: Run by the lamplighter TekTek Contests: (Each theme will be run by the respective spirit) Themes: Winter Yule Christmas Hanukkah Kwanzaa New years Helpers will be needed: List of Holiday spirits Winter: Snow Queen: me Yule: Holly King Christmas:Father Christmas Hanukkah: Lamplighter Kwanzaa: Nguzu Saba New Years: New year baby [size=18][color=blue][align=center]I would like to be a Holiday Spirit[/align][/color][/size]

Planned Events Secret Santa: this is event is run by me. It's an anonymous gift giving with a price limit attached. Twelve days of Christmas: Eight days of Hanukkah: Seven Days of KwanzaThe above three are set to be a Raffle. If items are used attendees will sign up and be provided a number. Using a dice roll is how the winner of that day will be decided. (but can be done using items. Anyone chosen to help can provide items that they have no use of towards the winners of the event.)Themed TekTek contests:Theme one: Winter: Run by host Theme Two- six will be based on the holidays that are represented by the co-hosts.

I was also thinking, because Hanukkah is about how such little amount of oil can supply them with light for 8 days while they fight and win a battle with against the Greeks, maybe the Hanukkah spirit should be either oil-lamp-themed, or war-like... I will be lurking and participating in the event, but I can't co-host or anything, lol. I am doing a joint event between two RP guilds this year, hosting xmas for my parents, cousins and siblings, and working xD

I just came across a great suggestion made by Chibi way back:
There is an advertising thread for the annual ball and Crystalloid said that she'd be interesting in having events go down in there. It would require you getting in touch with her to talk about how the graphics would work in the thread, getting her help with editing posts, and then even how the rest would fit together, but it is a good idea. It's an RP based advertising thread so it would fit an RP event and it wouldn't split the annual ball's advertising resources into two separate threads.
Just a suggestion!

And in case it helps, the story of Hanukkah in my simple, oddly worded words... You know, if you need it. A long time ago, the Jewish people had a temple, the important one holy temple that they had. It was seized by soldiers to praise Zeus. At first, the Jews were all upset, but afraid to fight back, but then it was outlawed to practice Judaism, and everyone had to praise Greek Gods. The group that fought back were called the Macabees. They regained control of the temple, but by then, the temple had been, in their words, "defiled". In order to purify the temple, they wanted to burn the oil of the menora for eight days, but unfortunately, they only had one days worth of oil left. To their amazement, the one-day's supply of oil stayed lit for eight days. So we celebrate. Yeah! That's the most I know, with some checks from the internet. For more information, see the Macabeats. Yeah.Fun fact: Hanukkah is not all that important in comparison to Rosh Hashannah, Passover, and Yom Kippur, but since it's so close to Christmas, it's the most well-known.
