Tonight was the night.

Well, it hadn’t started as the night, but as it progressed, Lesath decided that she was going to make it the night. She had waited a few days, she hadn’t wanted to rush into things…plus she had to find out just where this Harmony girl would be.

She had mentioned a coffee shop, so Raven had looked up a list of all of the small business coffee shops she could find in the city, and spent a full day driving around to them, before finally finding the one she was looking for, remaining outside and watching the Mint haired girl cheerfully make coffee for the very happy looking customers.

Hm. Maybe someday she’d go in, the smells coming from the building were…quite amazing.

Tonight, however, Lesath was waiting at the coffee shop, waiting for Harmony to finish up with her shift, fully intending to stalk her like some mothy creeper until she was able to get the girl alone…and get her Mirror Wraith to start draining her energy.

It was a perfect plan. She was pleased…and glad she didn’t lose her cool and just try and drain the girl on the night of the incident…then it would have been all too easy to figure out who she was, plus. Jett would have known, and might not have been very happy. No, this was the best idea.

It was better to wait, and so she did, watching the door of the coffee shop, waiting for Harmony to exit.

Harmony, none the wiser, exited when the shop closed and was clean, locking the door behind her with her friend Melanie. The two girls laughed and parted. Harmony was walking tonight. Her car was still at the library a short distance away from the shop. She'd just have to cross a few blocks and through the park to get there. She'd been working for Mr. Darrow earlier that afternoon. Thank God for that, really, because it was helping. The normalcy of feeling useful.

When the time came she'd been sitting, stooping, and bending so much she'd wanted to walk it off to stretch and left her car at the library with the promise she'd come back after her shift and drive it home. He never seemed to mind what she did so long as it was reasonable and didn't bother anyone. She was getting better at being on her own, left with instruction. The nightmares were steadily ebbing as life sank in and began to appear normal again. She wasn't fighting to remember that she was alive and that no monsters were waiting to come and find her. She wasn't struggling with the idea of dying for anyone's cause. She was slowly becoming Harmony Rosen, high school student, again. She had no idea what she was in for tonight or what a setback it would be.

She crossed the street and ventured into the sparsely populated park. She carried pepper spray as a habit her mother taught her though it was hardly close at hand in her bag rather than in her pocket as it should have been. She'd never been attacked in the city before and figured if she could be kidnapped from her bed pepper spray wasn't going to do much good. She was happy tonight for the first time in nearly a week since her disaster with Jett and then getting those damn flowers. She was ready to write him off and then he did something like that.

Reget Nothing...

She did. She regretted a lot of things with him and though she desperately wished he'd called he never had. She didn't think he intended to. But all the same it had been a pleasant night and though it was cold she felt young and carefree underneath a blossoming full moon. She started to dance her way down the sidewalk, humming a tune in her head to go by, feeling foolish and happy and funky all at once. She was a teenage girl and happy to be so tonight.

Lesath did not want to cause a scene. That was never her intention. She was doing her job, that was all. Doing her job to collect energy for the greater good of her faction. The fact she had a grudge against the one she was about to drain meant nothing. Absolutely nothing.

She waited, feeling very thankful that this little stint had increased her patience by tenfold…though perhaps it was just the fact that this was something she had coaxed herself into being patient for, convincing herself that everything would be worth it to see the fear in Harmony’s face. Her flowers had not yet been delivered, she didn’t know that Jett had sent them. All she knew was he had not bothered to contact her since she had seen him on a date with another woman, and she hadn’t bothered to contact him either.
It shouldn’t matter.

It shouldn’t, but it did. All was going to be okay though. She was going to even the odds, prove to herself that she was worthy of Jett’s affections. Worthy of being his one and only girlfriend.

She waited for Harmony to get away from the coffee shop. Waited for her to pass onto a street that was darkened, the shops were closed for the evening, and the streetlight had picked that night to decide to break, the light bulb burned out.

This was the perfect place.

She jumped off of one of the rooftops, looking at Harmony and giving a saccharine smile. “Well hello there. Now, what’s a pretty girl like you doing in a place like this? Hasn’t anyone ever told you that it’s dangerous to walk around outside alone, pretty lady?”

Perfect. So perfect. The entrance, and the opening speech. Practice truly did make perfect.

Harmony was startled out of her reverie long enough to turn around and face her would be attacker. She was not impressed. She also did not know this chick was from the Negaverse, either. She just heard the words, the tone vaguely familiar to her but impossible to directly place, and frowned. Her hand slipped into her pocket to grasp the pepper spray in there thinking this was the random creep element her mom had told her about. She didn't for a second think that her life was really in danger. If she had she would have started running already.

"Really?" She asked, sounding bored and cynical. "That's what you come up with? Isn't there some creeper school out there that's supposed to teach you how to stalk people? It might make you just a little more creative. Just who the hell are you, anyway?"

Besides, she was standing in a park where children routinely came to play and people mingled at nearly all hours. She was cutting through it to get to the library, sure, but it's not like the park was deserted all over. Just here at this bend for now. Except for them, of course. Her hand clenched tighter at the small canister of spray, thinking if worse came to worse she'd use it. She was subtle about it, though, not wanting to give herself away. She just had both hands in her pockets to protect them from the cold.

"Oh, yeah, and that costume? Are we trying to look as unappealing as possible? If you're trying that you succeed."

Creeper stalker chick meet sarcastic teenager. Sarcastic teenager, meet the unassuming person that could KILL YOU. Yes, that's right, kill you. But you don't know that yet. For shame...

"Anyway, better luck next time."

She turned to leave, thinking if the person behind her was smart they'd leave her alone before she called the cops. Her cell phone was in her hand, too, and she pulled it out on purpose, to show the creep what her next plan of attack was for this situation. If they didn't leave her the ******** alone she'd call the police or someone closer than that. If Lesath had expected her to cower in fear she had another thought coming.

Ohh. Little b***h was feisty, eh? Oh well. That just made this all the more fun then. The dark mirror senshi just smirked at the remarks then laughed. “Creeper school, hm? Where did you come up with that one? I bet it took you quite a bit of time.”

She stretched slightly, keeping her teal eyes locked on Harmony, planning her next move quite carefully. Should she just try and freak the girl out for a bit, and then drain her energy? Or should she drain some…then freak her out some, then drain some more…make a bit of a game out of this…

That sounded like a fun choice.

The Dark Mirror Senshi once more smirked at Harmony, eyes burning with a mixture of excitement at what she was about to do and slight hatred for the girl who she was about to hopefully scare completely senseless.

The mirror wraith that inhabited the small shard of mirror which Lesath kept close by her, flitted out of the shard, and charged right through the mint haired girl, draining a small bit of her energy before escaping back into the shard where it came from.

“But really, Minty. Haven’t people warned you that it is very dangerous to be walking alone at night? Perhaps…perhaps I should teach you a lesson about why it’s so very dangerous.”

She gave a laugh, one that sounded almost cruel, then just watched, eager to see what the girl would do now that she had lost some energy, and hopefully gained some fear. Fear was always a good thing to have. It kept things interesting.

Harmony almost burst out laughing as she walked. It must have taken her a while to come up with that? Really? How could she possibly take time to come up with that when it was off the cuff in response to her stupid little speech? Whatever this creeper was she didn't have a lot of brains, obviously. She dialed Tony, on speed dial, to ask her to meet her out front of the library if he could so she had some back up waiting. He was always still at work.

She put the phone up to her ear when she thought she saw something pass through her. Like a sudden case of the flu it infected, making her momentarily dizzy and weak. Not enough to stop for very long and thankfully not enough to drop the phone. Harmony was very adaptive. Very. Given what she'd been through and what she'd seen in the last few months it was enough to shock her system into flashbacks of dying in the surrounding. But she wasn't ready to give in to fear yet. Like the creeper said, she was alone at night in a park being harassed by "If I only had a brain" behind her.

Her imagination liked to play tricks on her. It was getting better now, sure, but she would be happier once she was in sight of the library and out of sight of whoever it was deciding to ruin her good night. She kept her other hand on the canister of pepper spray, slowing her walk to let her harasser get good and close. Hopefully pepper spray in the eyes would be a good deterrent from continuing on with her pointless crusade. If not, she also gave assurance as she waited for Tony to pick up the phone. She really didn't want to have to leave a message.

"I'm on the phone with the police." she called back over her shoulder, not telling the truth about who she was on the phone with but not that she was actually calling someone. Short of a gun or a knife she wasn't hanging up. She had pepper spray and her mom did drag her to occasional karate classes. She was no Chuck Norris but she thought she could deliver a hit.

Tony was still at the library, as he usually was even when it got late. Well, he had left to take Dogby home, setting her up for the night since he knew Nathan would not do anything to take care of her. So he had done that, then came back to his place of work to start on a different kind of job. He hadn't powered up, however, so when his phone began to rumble he was actually able to hear it.

Pulling it from his pocket, he noted that it was Harmony, since she had made sure to get his cell phone number even though he didn't use it too much. She had programmed herself into his phone, as his secretary. He knew how to do it himself, but he hadn't stopped her.

He picked up on the third ring, still using a phone that flipped open and often being told it was no longer the style.

He understood that, but if this phone still worked, why would he get rid of it or buy a more expensive one?

Sometimes he shuddered at how old his thoughts were.

"Hello?" he said, then he frowned. He heard Harmony saying she was on the phone with the police, which she was clearly not. He knew she couldn't have miss dialed, but he was not sure what trouble she was in. His mind leapt to the worst explanations. Someone was trying to rob her, or worse. Someone was trying to kill her? She was being kidnapped. She was being attacked by dogs. No, why would she tell them about the police?

He was moving immediately.

"Where are you? I'll call the police," he said, though now he had a bit of a dilemma. Camelot was going to go and help her, if he could, with whatever problem she had. He could only hope she didn't figure out that it was Tony under the glamor. The magic was strong, and the risk was not enough of a deterrent for him to not go and help her. So it didn't matter, in the end.

If she was in danger, he had promised to keep her safe, and that was what he was going to do.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 14, 2011 10:19 pm

Aww, poor baby was so scared she was trying to call the police? Or just pretending to. Not that the police could really do much. All it would take would be a mirror and Lesath would be gone.

Once more she released her Mirror Wraith, though this time it passed through Harmony twice before retreating to the mirror shard, collecting even more energy from the girl.

“I would suggest putting the phone down and facing me, little girl.” What would it take? What would it take for Harmony to finally show the fear that Lesath desperately wanted to see. A few more passes with the Mirror Wraith and she would have her energy for the night…but she wanted the fear. She wanted Harmony to realize…that she was a threat. If the Mirror Wraith went through her too many times, she wouldn’t really be able to get away…it would be so easy just to trap her in Mirrorspace as an energy feed…but…but Remarque would find out, then Lesath might be in trouble.

At least a little trouble. She sighed, then leapt into the air, landing in front of Harmony. “Put the phone away, dear. The police don’t give a damn about what you have to say.”

"I'm in Hyrule Park." she told him, ignoring the girl behind her for now. "Walking the path toward the library."

She stopped as the wraith moved through her, collecting more energy. She couldn't ignore it. There it was. That sick feeling again like an instant fever or sweltering heat when you've been out in the cold. She groaned as if in pain, the phone looser in her grip. She wasn't going to hang up. She wasn't giving up. She'd survived worse, death, literally. She wasn't giving in to this. When the girl jumped in front of her Harm began to piece things together. Incorrectly, as it turned out, but it was the best she had.

"You're part of the Negaverse, aren't you?" she asked, the phone still open and on with Tony. "I've run into you guys before. In space."

She had no idea that anything called the Dark Mirror Court existed. She certainly didn't know the difference between the wraith and a youma. But she knew Tony had his run ins with the Negaverse, or knew of it. Maybe he knew who to call? If she'd known her mother was a knight she'd have called home first. She didn't see Raven in space, at least she'd never taken note of her and didn't know the girl had been there. Harm started to get apprehensive but didn't go to fear. Not yet. Being on the phone with Tony helped that but she wasn't sure why. He comforted her and promised to protect her.

She stopped, wishing she had more to do than be mouthy toward this girl. Sarcasm was not likely to protect her from being killed. She only hoped Tony could get there soon enough. Or someone that could help. Anyone, really, at this point would be welcome except more like Lesath. She was trying to hold out hope because Harmony was determined not to die again. Not for some stupid group that seemed to live on terror. How much would her life mean if they took it? She couldn't imagine. She wasn't going to give in.
PostPosted: Mon Dec 19, 2011 1:49 pm

Tony listened, almost powering up immediately. He usually never powered up without taking a proper look around and making sure he was alone, but he couldn't help the urge to get there as fast as he could. He couldn't do it, though, not yet. For one, he was on the cell phone, and needed it.

If he powered up it would vanish.

He listened and heard her comment about the Negaverse. That was enough. He dropped the phone after yelling that he was going to call the police and he would get over there as soon as he could, and powered up, heading out of the library and looking around. She said she was close, and he had to search for her. This was okay. Camelot always started his patrol from the library: this was his turf.

It was perfectly reasonable for him to show up.

He felt a power signature not too close by and took off toward it, hoping he got there before anything bad happened to Harmony. He would never forgive himself and, worse than that, he knew Kyndall would never forgive him if she was hurt or worse.

He was traveling by roof top, faster, he felt, and he leaped off of one rather recklessly when he was close enough. He slammed into the ground on his feet, crouching and rising slowly, standing in front of Harmony. Except he wasn't doing it to scare her, as the Dark senshi had done. No, he was there to protect her. A knight in shining armor. Or rather, a Squire.

"You picked the wrong territory to hunt energy in," he said evenly, trying not to show how panicked and worried he felt, or that he had been alerted to this fight.

Lesath couldn’t help but let out a laugh when Harmony came to her conclusion. The Negaverse? Really?

She let the mirror wraith pass through the girl once more then shook her head. “No, no. I’m not part of the Negaverse. I’m a Senshi. A Senshi who has the sense to know what to fight for. “

The mirror wraith was growing more and more corporal now and Lesath figured it was best not to take any more energy. She didn’t want to kill Harmony after all. If she did. Jett would know it was her, and she didn’t want that.

“Besides, sweetie. People in the Negaverse don’t get to be as attractive as I am.” She wasn’t quite sure if that was true or not—so far the only person from the Negaverse that she had met was a cat…so she didn’t have much to go off of.

Lesath blinked and turned to look at Camelot as she heard his remark. “Oho. And who are you to tell me what to do?” His energy signature was stronger than hers was…she would have to watch out for that…but he just looked so old…how much could he really do?
PostPosted: Wed Dec 21, 2011 2:59 pm

She clearly saw the outline of the wraith now as it passed through her and shuddered. Things were getting kinda woozy around her. She didn't feel so strong. But she wasn't going to give in, either. She needed help but she'd been killed before only to come back good as new. Even if she couldn't fight back she could remain defiant in the face of danger. Smart assed teenager, face your death with another quip. It's ok.

"I dunno. The Negaverse agents that killed me were better looking than you are. In fact, most people I know are better looking than you are. You must be pretty insecure to bring it up and compliment yourself." She gave a bitter laugh. "Besides, the Negaverse already killed me and it didn't stick. I'm immortal."

Now there was a form she relished seeing. More than Tony. More than the police. Camelot - her hero. She'd seen him here before and didn't think twice about it. Her mom knew why he patrolled around here but she didn't. She just knew he was often to be found in and around this park. This is where he'd found her crying when she couldn't find her mom. Her heart swelled and she moved behind him.

"Camelot." she breathed a sigh of relief, weakened but allowing relief to start to wash over her. She never was happier to see him than she was now and would have hugged him if he wasn't currently busy. She laughed at Lesath's challenge, all of her faith in the knight in front of her. She knew she was safe now. She was always safe when he was near.

Camelot tried not to respond to Harmony. He knew she knew him, of course. He knew she meant more than he could say to him. She was Kyndall's daughter, an extension of his own family at this point. His assistant at the library. His friend. More than that, he had fought tooth and nail to restore her to her family in the Surrounding, and he was not going to let her be taken now.

He had almost failed once, even after fighting a dragon, save by a stroke of luck no one really understood. He would not fail now, when things were far more in his control.

The Squire lifted his shield, the crystal embedded in the wood glistening and thronging with the promise of battle. To protect those that needed him, to defend the innocent and give them a chance to live their lives fully. That was his promise to the city, and to all the people that live in it.

"Camelot, of Earth," he said with a nod, by way of an introduction when Lesath asked who he was to tell her what to do. "And I do not allow children like you to play such dangerous games in my streets. I don't want to hurt you, and this is your chance to leave, now, without either of us bringing the other to harm. If you fight me, I will defeat you."

He watched her carefully, feeling a strength and confidence in himself that he never would have imagined before, even a few weeks ago. But as time went on, and he fought harder for what he believed in, his confidence in not just those beliefs but himself, rose. It had to, or he would fail a thousand times. And failure wasn't an option any more.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 05, 2012 5:03 pm

Blah blah blah. That girl didn’t know when to quit, did she? Lesath was very sorely tempted to just get on with it and drain her until she died, but she restrained herself and shook her head before looking at the ‘Camelot of Earth’.
“Well, Camelot of Earth. Maybe I will just waltz away. I have a bunch of energy from her anyway. I wasn’t planning on killing her. Just, toying with her. I don’t like that color green, you see. It reminds me of unpleasant things.”

She was still sizing him up, and figured, she could at least try and fight. Maybe…

Maybe at least she could rattle his old man chains and see what he was really capable of. “Though if you’d rather I just finish her off, I mean, what good does she really do for the world, right? She’s just a smart mouthed teenager. I’m sure an old timer like you would prefer if people like her would all just…disappear. Am I correct?”

She made a move, like she was going to release her mirror wraith once again. A few more passes and the damage would be quite heavy to Harmony. With a grin, she did let it out, the creature going through the mint haired girl once more, then diving right back into the mirror shard.

“You see, Camelot of earth. No real harm done. Just collecting for my cause.”

There were some things Harmony just felt comfortable with. One of them was that Camelot would always protect her. Somehow he just knew where to be and came to her rescue. She did rather love him for it, in a wide eyed kind of way. In lots of ways. And she felt incredibly safe when she heard him challenging Lesath for her freedom. The chick was probably too stupid to accept but nevertheless he made the offer to let her go in peace.

Part of Harm was indignant about that. She'd been drained of her energy by this chick already and felt kinda of woozy. As the wraith passed through her again she got that instaflu feeling and wavered on her feet. She'd been drained a lot and felt it. She slumped down, her knees hitting the sidewalk hard, as if they couldn't keep her body upright anymore. She heard Lesath's cut in her direction and felt more pain for the idea that Camelot might want her gone than what the senshi actually thought of her. On that she couldn't care less.

"Hey! He loves me!" Ok, that sounded bad. How to put it better though? Everything else sounded corny or fell short. The explanation was long winded. Quieter, she added. "He's my hero."

And kind of like her dad. And her mentor. And her friend. (oh, if only she knew how close to home he really was). But that was the long explanation and in spite of herself she gave Lesath a key to a weakness of his, herself. But she hadn't been thinking about that when she said it, just her own indignance for the implication that he wouldn't want her around. She wasn't that bad, right?

Harm usually remained blind to her own faults. Evidently so did Lesath...
