It had been four days, like Lous had told him. J. Boyd was standing outside the gate, with a more willing Inali by his side. In the last few days, he had been spending more time with the once wild mokai, teaching him how to walk on a leash, just like the way he was teaching young Kita to do as well. Inali had picked it up rather quickly, perhaps it was due to the fact Inali had been through it once before? However, this was a fact that JB did not know. He just thought the mokai he was catching was something that never seen the settlement life before: A true wild at heart.

Looking down at his mokai, the man just sighed, his dark eyes bringing themselves back up, staring at the outside. Well, he assumed if he wanted to have an obedient mokai sooner or later, he’d have to trust him to take him outside the walls sometime right? And the woman did mention that she’d be able to catch him if he decided to run.

If she didn’t keep her words, JB would make sure she’d pay for saying them. He did not have the money to waste to look for the mokai again.

It was ready.

Lous and Aea walked towards the gates while Lous stretched her arms in front of her and then circled them to stretch her shoulders. Aea was besides her, loping in front, dodging back and forth. Energy was running through her veins for the excitement that was to come. She wanted to go now, now, now? She wanted to go! Lous laughed watching Aea, "Patience," she spoke, but Aea didn't seem to listen.

As they broke from the treeline, Aea saw Inali and Lous knew there was no stopping her mokai as she took off running for the pair: man and mokai.

Lous joined them shortly after, Aea already crouching at Inali, trying to instigate play. {Are you ready, Inali? Her tone of voice held all of her excitement.

"Hello James, I hope since we last spoke you've been fairing well?" she asked reaching her hand out for a shake. "Everything is prepped for him, and it isn't far, just over the hillside there in the trees," she pointed with her other hand."

I’d rather be running out there right now with the humans not here. Inali spoke softly, his bright blue eyes looking longily towards his freedom. It was like a hit in the face, there it was, staring at him, and he couldn’t do anything about it.

But I guess so… Inali had stopped trying to convince others that his true name was Ciar. Whatever he said, the humans still called him Inali. How long will it take to get there? He’d rather spend more of the time walking in the woods, then training. It was a bit more closer to what he wanted.

“I have been. I’ve been giving Inali some lessons with the leash while also giving my young pup some lessons as well.” He needed his mokai to be strong and willing. So far, even Inali, showed promise. He couldn’t wait to see what Kita would be like as an adult. He had plans for her.

“Lead the way.” He said quickly, ready to she just what in store the female had for his mokai. “Come along, Inali.” He only gave a slight tug at the black lead as the mokai quickly followed. Whatever JB had done in those last few days had caused a more better listening mokai at his heels.

Not long but...when we are there, he will let you off the leash?" Aea said tilting her head just slightly. Won't that be nice too? To not have it attached to your neck? she began walking when Lous walked, and looked up to her human. IT seemed like Lous responded well to this male human, despite all of the other male humans she had problems with. She wondered why Lher human might be doing this, dealing so well, but the more she thought of it, Aea realized, it was probably because of her. Lous was doing this for her to help Inali.

Inali looked almost bored as he walked with the leash, and Aea's ears fell back. Lous allowed her to walk without one.

As they strode up the hill, they walked into the underbrush, into the woods with the canopy overhead, and soon the earth underfoot and underpaw became mixed with small rounded stones and the sound of water was clear.

Lous pushed passed a barrier of bushed and made sure to walk with Aea right behind her, hoping James would catch the hint to do so as well. "Just watch your step," she said back to James, "there are surprises, around, if you catch my drift."

A little farther and they were met with an open area. They could see the sky, but before them was an area with large smoothed stones, different masses and heights. There were also logs pushed in all different directions laying atop one another.

It was like a modified pit, as the large stone struture was walled by late that towered high beyond reach.

There was a fall near, and thus, the slate was large, smooth, and powerful here. It was why ous chose it.

"The only way out was where we came," Lous explained as Aea walked forward into the area and crouched down, looking to Inali, tail swaying. "only ay out is where we came in. You ready?"

Come on Aea said to Inali, she thought for a moment before she chose her next words. Let's play.

Really? his tail wagged a slight at the thought. That would be nice, to not have to be tugged on the neck anymore, but at least he didn’t have one of those collars that tightened on his neck as he pulled. Strolling up the hill, Inali took in the sights. Oh how he had been through some of these paths at a younger age. He’d got into the fight behind that tall tree with a few mokai a couple of times. Sighing, Inali just wanted the leash to snap, so he could run away and never return. In his mind, it had done that, he’d look back and see the two stunned humans and Aea just watching him as he laughed and ran.

That didn’t happen though. Instead, they entered whatever the land was that Lous had built. He followed by the male human, treading carefully on the ground.

“Okay.” He murmured, staring at the ground.

Never had Inali seen this place before. Here was another land tampered with my humans. Shaking his head, he watched Aea, before turning back to the place where they had come from. If it wasn’t for the smell of human (perhaps more now than before, due to the cologne that JB wore), Inali would have walked past it as a wild.

“And you’re sure about that?” James asked cautiously, not yet taking Inali off the leash. He reached down, telling his mokai in the stern voice, “Stay,” and he unsnapped the leash from the collar.

Inali did just that, he’s slightly pinned back. Play? his ears perked a bit. …aren’t we suppose to…fight or something? Wasn’t that the reason they were out there in the first place?

"I even told Aea to try and get out, and she couldn't, see those walls," she said, motioning to the great slates that shot straight up, "they are smooth to the touch, no mokai, let alone human, could get traction. and a mokai, or any animal for that matter, would be crazy to try and get in from up there, the fall would be problematic and cause injury. Don't worry, he doesn't know what is set," she said with a wink.

Lous turned to Aea, who seemed excited, and she smiled.

"Aea, trina Inali. ylap."

She'd just have to wait and see.

Aea smiled and held in a laugh and jumped towards Inali, and back. Training, fighting, isn't always about the pain, the pit, but the experience. Play with me she said walking away from him, unless...you don't think you can keep up, or catch me she smirked.

She hoped he would take the bait.

Aea went for the center, hopped up onto the stones and waited. {i]Show me what your made of

…You don’t think I can keep up with you? Hah, you’re real funny.

Inali had remembered what Ai had told him before his first battle. It didn’t matter how you did it, just as long as you came out on top. So, when he put those words to use in this context, that just meant to keep up with her, perhaps even act as if he were in the pit again…just without the pain factor.

He took a step forward, but waited. That word… Stay…rung in his mind. He looked back at the two humans, who seemed to be chatting, before taking another step, and another. Soon he was at a slow lope, heading towards the rocks. He hadn’t been able to climb on top of anything since he was captured. Following the gray mokai up the rocks as he growled a bit (he tried to sound playful, but it did not come across that way).

…This was playing…right?

Aea waited for him and looked to Lous who just seemed to be waiting in standby. Aea grinned to Inali and crouched down again, low, letting her belly be close to the stone she was atop on. She jumped to a nearby log, then another, then another, getting closer to him and as he growled, she growled back and jumped, tapping him on the face with her paw landing on a nearby stone.

You'll have to do better than that she said winking to him.

Use your legs, spring yourself forward, don't just climb, or I'm going to pin you she said sticking her tongue out. Come on Inali she said jumping to another area, then another. She kept going, waiting watching, hoping he'd give into the chase.

How was she doing that…? Maybe Inali miss took her. He watched as she flawless jumped from stone to log then back to stone, hitting him in lightly in a tap in the process. He gave a slight glare, there would be no way he would let her gain the upper hand.

Inali adjusted himself feeling his soft paws on the cold stone below. It was a bit slippery; Inali was more use to gripping things with long claws. Since being domesticated, his claws had been filed down. There was no clinging to anything there.

He took her words, springing forward. Hah! he cried out when he landed successfully. I won’t let you pin me! he’d after to do that to her though.

It didn’t take long for him to get into a groove of jumping on the stones. After a little bit, he could feel his muscles beginning to hurt. He hadn’t done something like this before in a long while.

“What is this teaching him? Endurance?” JB asked Lous.

"Endurance, agility, up his stamina and build muscle in his legs," Lous said simply. "The difference in height of stone, and texture of stone to log, will also help him develop a feel for the terrain. That way, in the pit, if it varies, his paws can get a feel and stabilize himself. A strong stance is a foundation to build upon," Lous said with a nod. "He's learning fast."

Not bad Aea said with a giggle. But move your body with your legs, it will ease the tension you'll feel in your forelegs when you land[/]i she said as she jumped again, and again, this time got close, tapped him once more and landed not too far away. She stuck her tongue out at him slightly, then you'll have to do better than that, or else I'll pin you soon!

"She's baiting him," Lous said with a laugh, "look, see her body posture, she is making him work for it."

“I see..” JB said as he watched. He could tell what she was talking about. They way each stone was, the height different. That would make him be better prepared for whatever happened in any kind of pits he would be in. He nodded when she spoke of him learning fast. It was like he had done this before. It would have to be something he would have to research later. Maybe his mokai wasn’t exactly as wild as he thought.

Inali moved his legs and body the way she tried to tell him. Occasionally he would find his paws slipping off the surfaces, but he would manage to catch himself not to fall. At the tap again, he tried swinging his body, trying to get her, but it only caused him to lose balance once more.

Shaking off his almost fall, Inali lunged at the female. At least she was on a rock a little closer to the ground, so if he happened to knock her down, neither of them would get hurt.

“I think he took it.”

"Perhaps my training for Aea, out ehre, is a little unorthodox of what most do in the settlement, but, this way, not a lot of others know what to expect. If you mix it up, you have a better chance for improvement, and higher gain," Lous said.

As Inali lunged, Aea smirked and braced herself, as his weight connected with hers, it was a surprise. She didn't think he had as much force as he did, so they tumbled down to the ground, but rolling as they did as to not impact their bodies too much. As they toppled, it went back and forth, Aea or Inali, Aea or Inali, for who would be on top.

As they hit the ground, Aea smirked, pressing her paws down into Inali's shoulders, smiling, got to do better than that, Inali she said softly, teasingly with a hint of...something else.

"He almost got her," Lous said, witha hint of surprise in her voice.

“You sound surprised?” Maybe it was JB’s cockyness that was showing, but he wasn’t surprised at all. Instead, he knew his mokai could pin the other, maybe he was just holding back on her? Whatever the reason, JB made a fist by his side. While Inali was showing promise, he shouldn’t have been so easily pinned.

Argh! the male growling, feeling the weight of the female on his shoulders, keeping him in place. He had underestimated her, surely. He wouldn’t let that happen again. Next time I will do better. Just you wait. he huffed, tail hitting the ground just a little bit. He had forgotten about escaping that very moment, instead, he wanted to find a way to beat the female.

…he’d find a way. Soon.

Can you let me up now?

Lous smirked at him and said nothing, but watched the two mokai.

I guess I can do that Aea said and leapt off from him easily and sat and watched him for a moment. Next time, let your paws fit what your on, they are splayed, you know, webbed? she said holding her paw up, they are big to give us traction, just feel what is under you, and then go. Trust it, and you'll get more power behind your punch.

She smiled, knowing, their play was indeed training, but she didn't see it that way.

We'll see how you do next time, she said smiling, and walked over to Lous.

"He did well, and you are welcome to join us out here if you'd like. I've no problems with it. Just be sure to always follow the path, and not stray off as I left the surprises in case he ran off, but it seems like he enjoyed himself. He did well."

Lous was glad this happened, it gave Aea a chance to be with the male she so wanted to help escape, it also gave Lous a chance to see the male's fighting ability.

He held promise.

The future, indeed, would hold many surprises.

Inali listened, and got up on his feet as she got off him. He gazed down at his paws, spreading his toes to see the webbedness she had been talking about. He’d have to give it a try next time.

Next time will be better. He smirked. He would make sure of it.

Inali waited where he was, watching as the two humans had spoke.

“It did…didn’t he…I guess that just means I have to train him out here from now on. If he likes it, and learns well from it that is.” JB would enter him the pit this coming week against someone and see how exactly he had fared in his training. Though, he’d not take him here by himself. JB was a big man, he couldn’t run after a mokai. He might have to have Ai tag along if he couldn’t find a more lithe human.

“We should get going then. Thank you Lous. Come, Inali.” When his mokai didn’t move, he shook his head, walking over and snapping the lead to the mokai. He’d learn…one day soon.
