The soft, mournful, yet beautiful strains of the guitar playing gently drifted over the air. It wasn't recorded, the depth of the sound was far too REAL for it to be a recording. No, someone was playing live right there on the school campus under a tree near the school building. The punk boil didn't look nearly as gentle as the song. He was reasonably tall, and looked taller thanks to his purple mohawk that hung in his eyes. He was sitting down, coaxing the music from the shining, sharp guitar that he was playing. But his expression, once you were close enough to see it, was as soft as the song itself, a little smile pulling at his pierced lips, his silver eyes partially closed. It was, even though he was obviously a reaper, a very inviting scene.

The gryphon had taken up residence high up in the tree that Roch had decided to play under. There she was, up high and cozy, only to have something catch her ears. It wasn't an unpleasant sound at all. In fact, for a moment she thought her headphones might have turned them selves on with out her meaning to. She pulled them down around her neck and inspected her eyepod to maybe see if she could get a title of the song. But, the eyepod was turned off. Not only that, but even with her headphones around her neck she could still hear the music.
The gryphons ear twitched. It was coming from below her? With cat like reflexes the gryphon made her way down the tree. Jumping from branch to branch.
Yes, she could fly, but Tahki was being very sneaky right now. Then she saw something humanoid shaped? Moehawk and all. Was that a guitar?
Tahki was on a branch directly over the reaper now. She crept in closer but slipped and some how ended up hanging upside down dangling spiderman style by her tail in front of the guitar wielding reaper. Tahki said nothing, but her eyes were open so wide she was clearly a deer in the head lights.
Not only that, her hat was on the ground now.

Roch looked up, barely managing to keep from yelping and jerking back. That--that was unexpected, he thought. It was a good thing he'd finished the song, otherwise his guitar would have screamed for him.
"Um... you dropped your hat," he said, leaning forward to grab it, only to find himself just a little too close to her face. He didn't want to trade headbutts or something! "Hi," he said a bit belatedly, slowly pulling back. "I'm Roch."

Tahki hung by her tail for a while before with out saying anything. She wasn't sure what to say. Honestly, the shock of slipping from a branch was still heavy with her. Not only that, but Roch's face was a little too close to her own. She was eye level with his mouth right now.
Finally her wit caught up with her and she felt her voice tumbling out of her throat.
"Ahh... T-thank you." The gryphon accepted the hat and clutched tightly to it. "T-Tahki. Sorry to be a bother but could you... uh.. get me down?" Her tail was starting to hurt from supporting her own body weight. She was afraid to just let go because the ground was to close to gently glide down.

"Oh, yeah, sure," he said as he slid his guitar over his back, standing carefully. Then he hesitated and reached out to wrap his arms around her waist. "Sorry, this isn't somethin' I do very often," he muttered against her thigh. He took on more of her weight. "Can you put your hands on the ground or something?"
This ah... wasn't how he was used to meeting people for the first time, he thought as he bent forward so she could touch the ground.

This was very awkward now with Roch having his arms around her waist and what not. But there was no going back now. The gryphons face was all kinds of shades of red though, she wasn't sure what to say.
But then Roch asked if she could put her hands on the ground. Tahki nodded, bit the edge of her hat, and extended her now free hands to the floor. Most. Awkward. Meeting. Ever.

He twisted, lowering the ghoul so her feet were touching the ground. "There we go," he said, now crouching beside her. "Does that... ah... happen a lot?" he asked curiously, motioning to her tail and the tree. There was a little grin on his face now that he was picturing her doing that to people all the time.
He didn't seem too bothered by the little awkward meeting at all. In fact, he looked rather amused, now that it was over.

Now safe on the ground, the gryphon took a breath. She was on the ground again and never been so grateful for something so small. As a some one with wings who took the ground for granted, she was reminded just how nice it was and stable. Her ear twitched again as Roch spoke.
"Uh.. Th-this would be the first time actually.." As a feline and a bird, trees usually came pretty easy to the gryphon. Usually.
"That song... Uh.. I heard it and it was good... I wanted to see who was playing." She lifted a brow up at Roch. Her expression was still pretty mild though surprisingly. The shades of red had left her.

"I picked it up online," he said. "I'm pretty good at learning to play things by ear," he added with little to no modesty. "But that one's always a little melancholy. I usually go for faster paced songs when I know I got an audience."
He fell back into a sitting position, tugging his guitar over his shoulder again. "You like music?" he asked her eagerly. "I mean, y'know, since you got headphones on and everything."
And she was cute, a deceitful little voice in the back of his head whispered. Really cute. Cute enough to distract him from the Xiu problem for a little while! He should take advantage of that fact.

When Roch mentioned the internet the first question that popped in her mind was whether or not he was a techy. This question was one that popped in her mind often though when some one mentioned any thing computer related, even something simple like the internet. Usually the case was no, they werent. But Tahki was always hopeful.
She sat like a cat ears perked up listening to Roch be not modest. Not that Tahki cared that he wasn't being modest, she didn't really care at all to be honest. The techy question lingered in her mind. Little did she know, Roch was thinking about her being cute.
"Music," She nodded, "I like music a lot but to be honest.... uh..." Did she want to admit that half the time she wasn't listening to anything? That they were just an excuse to not talk to most people? No. Tahki shook her head, "To be honest I like all types.." She changed her mind at the last minute.

He looked at her, tilting his head slightly. He could have sworn she was going to say something else... "All types? Even that country western stuff that's all about people losin' their wives, their dogs dying, and drinking all the time?" he asked her. "You're a lot more open minded than I am, if that's the case," he teased.

She bit her lip when he pointed out country. Quickly, the gryphon shook her head in protest and even made a gagging noise when she was done shaking her head.
"N-no! I don't like country.. well not all of it. Does folk count as country?" She was giving him a very serious look. Folk music was a guilty pleasure of the gryphons. Something she enjoyed quite a bit.

"Nah, Folk can be fine," he said, grinning. "I like most everything, too, but I was raised on Blues and Spanish beat for the most part. The old skeleton that taught me liked it best. Got some classic under my belt, too. Hey, do you play anything? Or sing?" he asked. "I got a karaoke booth and a music club if you do either!"

Blue and Spanish beat sounded like an interesting combination to grow up on. One look at Roch and Tahki would have guessed he'd grown up on punk. Not that there was anything wrong with punk, there wasn't. Tahki had quite a bit on her eyepod actually. It was just refreshing that he had a deep sense of music.
"Oh. Uhhhh.." She scratched her head as she debated in her head if she really wanted to admit about last years battle of the bands. Finally she nodded.
"I do. I play drums ... uhh but I kind of knocked my team and the other team out last year at battle of the bands.... It was..." She looked down at the ground. Her tail curled around her feet. Did she really just confess that she knocked out her band?

He choked, looking away, but his shoulders were shaking. Finally Roch gave into it, and started howling with laughter. "JackDAMN I wish I'd been there!" he said, turning to grin at her eagerly. "Hey, tell me more about it, the battle of the bands! I wasn't here when it happened, which seriously really really sucks. It sounds like a hell of a fun time!"
Had he had a tail it would have been wagging. She'd knocked out her bandmates? ALL of them? Man did he wish he'd seen that!
