Roll a Ten: Playground Field: The field looks like an average playground. Grass mostly covers the field floor, but sand surrounds the areas where the jungle gym, see-saw, swing set, merry-go-round, monkey bars, and trapeze rings are set. Scattered around the field are a baseball, a soccer ball, a football, and many other types of balls. A tree stands at one corner of the playground with a tire swing hanging from its strongest branch. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to NORMAL type attacks.

Mina entered an empty stadium, a large Girafarig by her side. She rarely had an opportunity to train her Pokémon in regulated areas, and she hoped Trist, the aforementioned Girafarig, would be more comfortable, at least. Although she knew he would rather not fight unless needed, both were aware of the fact that, without proper training, he would remain weaker than the potential wild Pokémon they encounter in their travels.
Now, Trist liked Mina, despite the fact that she wasn't his original trainer. He would prefer to protect her if he could, and that feeling was stronger than the ones that cowed him from fighting. He had always trusted Rohe, his companion, to take care of their battles, but he knew he couldn't depend on it forever.
At the very least, the field appeared... less dangerous than the others, and he clopped towards the center to await his opponent.

Cara walked out into the stadium, hoping that this time the field type would be a bit more kind to poor Calypso. This would only be her second battle, her first one had been rather awkward seeing as it had been in the forest where there was no water what-so-ever. She looked at the pokeball containing the tentacool then looked back up at the field and stopped. "Greeaaaat...perfect for Dante or Rio...not for Calypso. Ah well, we'll figure somethin out." Cara then walked over to her trainer's box and climbed in. It was not until she was inside that she released Calypso out onto the slide. "I know it's not your best area Calypso, but do your best." The tentacool nodded her big head and faced the large Girafarig.
Cara then faced the other trainer. "You ready?"

Cara quickly thought through the most effective moves that Calypso knew that could be used against a Girafarig. One soon came to her. "Calypso, use Payback!"
Calypso's eyes began to glow as she swung her long tentacles out towards Flint, a dark aura surrounding them as she attacked.

"Sure am!" Mina replied. "Thanks for battling with me!"
Soon, the battle began, and Mina flinched when she saw the first blow land on Trist. It was a dark move, which was especially effective, too. "Try to confuse it!" she called, hoping confusion with the awkward playground setting for the Tentacool would slow it down.
Trist backed away from the Payback, ears flat and huff of air coming out in a snort. What was he being paid back for? he wondered glumly.
At Mina's insistence, he opened his mouth and let loose waves of Confusion.

Cara's eyes grew big. "Oh god, not again..." She said as she slapped her forehead with the palm of her hand. Confusion and Calypso did not go well together. They just didn't mix. Cara watched as Calypso was unable to dodge and suddenly started moving her tentacles about in a very odd manner. "Euh boy...Calypso, Use Sludge Wave!"
Calypso was extremely confused as she powered up the move. She aimed it for what she thought and hoped was Trist.

The bomb was thrown far from its mark, and it landed with a sizzling hiss on a swing. If anything, that was a sure sign the Confusion had worked.
"Boost your attack now, Trist; Calm Mind!"
Assured, at least for the moment, by the miss, Trist allowed his eyes to close and calmed his mind.

Cara sighed, she knew that the Girafarig was upping its stats. "Calypso, use Supersonic!" She called out.
Calypso was waving her tentacles around once more...and also spinning around in her spot quite happily. When she heard the command to use Supersonic she took 'aim' and fired the ear-splitting attack.

Ironically, the other got out of confusion to confuse Mina's Girafarig back. What a battle it would be.
"Trist, try to use Psybeam, again!"
When the attack hit, Trist wobbled unsteadily on his hooves. The playground spun -- or perhaps it was he who was moving.
Regardless, he heard the command, and tried to aim it at the Tentacool.

"Haha...Great job Calypso!!" Cara called over, happy that they were on an even playing field once more. Calypso just twirled around in her spot, causing Cara to just roll her eyes and shake her head a bit. "Ok Calypso, use Payback!"
Calypso stopped her spinning and started the attack. Her eyes began to glow and she began the attack straight toward where she believed Trist was.

Mina held back a laugh when their Pokémon began hitting themselves instead of their opponent. At this rate, they would tire themselves, and the battle would end in a draw.
"Try it again, Trist!" she called, hoping that, with two heads instead of one, he would have a better chance of breaking out of it.
Trist, still dizzied from his previously hit, shook his head and tried Confusion once more.
