Sun Hunter
SHADOW RUN

General Information
The Shadow Run is both the simplest and most dangerous training course that can be run without a golem. A flurry of continuous attacks is what the Sun Division holds in highest respect, and the course reflects that. The course itself is a simple tunnel, reached via portal. Within the tunnel await hundreds of weak, hungry shadowlings. Nothing to worry about on their own, but capable of overwhelming a Hunter through sheer numbers at the first moment of weakness. At the other end of the tunnel is another portal, leading back to the course observation booth.

If you fail: your character is KO'd, but there's always a senior hunter in the observation booth with enhanced bandages at the ready. They should reach you in time. Really. Trained and trusty professionals on-hand 24/7.

If you win: peen points and bragging rights to those who take out the greatest number of shadowlings and go the most turns without needing to attempt a recovery maneuver.

    Mechanics
  • You must get through 5 waves of attacks to make it through the tunnel.
  • Simply roll for attack as you would in battle.
  • If you miss, your character falters in their attacking and is overwhelmed by shadowlings.
  • After 3 successful hits, you may use your weapon's charge attack.

    Bonus Mechanics
  • This bonus is consumable.
  • The bonus in this course is in the form of "recoveries" ~ these are would-be missed attacks that are quickly recovered and turned into a successful hit. Basically, they can miss once and roll again for an extra try. If you keep consecutively missing, though, and run out of recoveries, it's lights out. These do not equal an automatic pass for a round, you still have to land a successful hit to proceed.

  • Trainees: 0 recovery
  • Sun Trainees: 1 recovery
  • Hunters: 1 recovery
  • Sun Hunters: 2 recoveries

Having attempted his own division's training course, Davey was ready for more of a challenge. Home ground was always easier than playing on someone else's, so Davey thought it was time to try another division's course. Despite being in Moon Squad, Davey had always fancied himself more of an attacker. He eyed the Sun course. Dangerous, they said. Highest KO rate, they said.

Bring it on, Davey said.

Stepping closer, he checked for details of where to go. (It didn't seem to involve a whole other island, like the Moon course.) While reading, he thought he felt someone else approaching.

Aleister was still learning the ropes but he'd heard about the training courses, so he'd went to check them out. His own division's course seemed to scare him, so now he was standing there reading the Sun Hunter's course curiously. He was thinking about at least giving it a try and hey someone else was here.

Maybe he be willing to help? "Hi" Aleister greeted the other, as he paused to read the rules. "Are you thinking about trying this one?" He asked curiously.

Davey looked up when the other Hunter addressed him. He only had the vaguest recollection of seeing the guy around before - one of the newest trainees, then, what were the others calling them... 'hatchlings'? It made Davey huff a quiet laugh, if only because the fully-trained Hunter no doubt saw the older trainees in exactly the same light.

"Yes. I've already run the Moon division's course. Sun seemed like the next best one." Better to work his way to up the courses designed by Caelius and Dr H - no doubt as confusing and sadistic as the men themselves.

The last few times he'd worked with a partner hadn't been too bad, Davey thought. He eyed the other male. "Were you planning on trying it, too? We might as well go together."

It made more sense than one of them waiting for the other to run through the entire course (multiple waves of enemies, the information sheet advised) and then do exactly the same themselves. It said that groups could take on the course together, so why not give that a try, Davey reasoned to himself.

"I'm Davey," he said, holding out his hand.

Aleister was looking back at it, "Uh... well sorta. I was wondering if there's really shadows in it. Or if they just called it Shadow run. I mean I'd be okay running it with someone else."

He paused watching before nodding and taking Davey's hand, "Aleister." He said glancing back at the sheet. "I haven't run any of these yet. So might as well try right?"
