Senna was drawing deep breaths by the time she had woven her way through the last grid of poles laid on the floor. Devin had laid out the complicated maze in an attempt to make her more aware of her paws and more used to placing them accurately. Her footwork needed dire improvement, and with these grids, she was slowly getting better. Soon, Devin would put up some actual courses to test her agility and to further challenge her footwork, and after that... who knew.

Already, she was feeling more confident, more able to do the work that her laid out for her, and it would be exciting to find out if she could cope with more. For her own sake, as well as Devin's, she hoped that she could. He had put so much faith in her, faith that she wanted desperately to return.

She looked up as Devin's hand caressed her head and he told her to go ahead and walk it off. Senna assumed that meant they were done for the day. She cast one more look over at the grid - she was sure she could do more - before obeying, turning to leave the field. She figured she would have twenty minutes or so before Devin came to call her back to her stall.

That wasn't too bad. With a small satisfied smile on her face, she padded off.

*This rp takes place prior to his new dragon-fied look*

Link was wandering down the sides of the compound while Lila was chatting with a fellow two-legger. She knew her mokai would go too far, so she never really put him on a lead, unless it was late, or if there was a busy crowd. Today, neither of them were present. Link was enjoying the life outside the fighting pit, where he would not have to worry about impressing the people, or Lila of that matter (even though she would say it was all good and fun, he knew she wished that he was winner like other mokais).

The scent of another quickly hit the air. His tail began to wag. He knew that smell. It was the first mokai he had been pitted against! There was a slightly different scent to her, but overall he knew it was the same gal. Following his nose, he walked past the compound training pits, spotting the silver striped female.

She looked different. Her tail was the most distinguishable feature, a long cat like tail rather than the dog one she had the week before. Upon closer inspection, he noticed the difference in the face, and the collar as well. If she had a different scent, Link would be sure this was someone new.

Link would have called out her name, but the fact of the matter was he didn’t exactly know it. So, instead, he resulted in:

“Hey! I know you!”

There went his tail, wagging a mile a minute.

Her new tail meant that she could move a whole lot quicker and make more sudden motions without worrying about losing balance. It was all new to her, but came much more instinctively than she would have thought. Using the tail had long become second nature, though there were many moments when she had to pause and marvel at its handiness.

At the sound of Link's voice, she whipped around, quick as a cat, tail swinging gracefully to accommodate the sudden shift. "I know you!" A bright smile broke across her face as recognition dawned on her. Senna imagined that it would be hard for anyone to forget her first fight, but she thought that hers was even more unforgettable. Not that it had been much of a fight, per se, but it was close enough.

If Senna could have wagged her tail, she would have. It was one of the most difficult things to get used to, not being able to wag and show pleasure in that way. But she supposed that the pros far outweighed the cons in this situation. There were always other ways to show happiness, after all.

If there was one thing about Link, it was that he always stated the obvious. So, when he blurted out:

“Wow! Look at your tail!”

It wasn’t something that should be taken offense too. Link flashed the other a smile, his tail still a-waggin’. “You know, after our fight the other day, I never got your name, or gave you mine.” He paused his wagging, outstretching a paw. That was the gesture that the humans did others when they introduced themselves.

“I’m Link. This way, we can say we have officially met, right?” He yipped excitedly, circling the female mokai. Link was just a ball of energy like always. Inside the pit or outside, his personality had never changed.

Her gaze flitted wistfully to his wagging tail, and her own waved somewhat, experimentally. No dice. The striped Mokai stifled a sigh. She knew it was only a matter of getting used to it, but while she was adjusting, it was doing a fine job of driving her crazy.

"Yea," she nodded in response to his observation, her voice semi-enthusiastic. There were up- and down-sides to all this - not the least of which was the painful process of transforming - so she couldn't quite help but feel neutral about it all. No doubt, she would reach a point at which she would be nothing but grateful to Devin for having given her the potions, but that was a few weeks off yet. "It's, ah... different," she said with a wry smile, curling it around to take a look. "Takes some getting used to. I have to constantly remind myself that it'll do me good."

Pausing, Senna glanced down at his outstretched paw, momentarily confused. Then it hit her - ah, the human thing. A "handshake" was what Devin called it, and though it made little sense to her, she supposed it must be the right thing to do if even Link was imitating the motion. She stuck out her own paw, bumping it against his. "I'm Senna," she said, smiling at his boundless energy. She wasn't sure she had it in her to run and play all day like he seemed to be able to, but that didn't mean she couldn't admire his obvious enthusiasm.

“I bet! Does it ever make you feel like it’s going to trip you up? Or something where it may like…make you unbalanced?” Link didn’t know really how to word what he was thinking. The tail looked much heavier than the one she had before, therefore he assumed with would just get in the way a bit more. (Though, truth be told, sometimes Link believed his own tail had gotten himself into some snags before: like the time when Lila was younger, and accidently slammed his tail in the door. Now there was an experience that he did not want to recall.”

Link was curious though, how it may do her good. Perhaps, once she mastered it, she’d be more agile? Or aerodynamic?

His tail wagged so much it had begun to shake his whole body. At the ‘hand bump’ Link dropped his front half to the ground, in a playful manner. “Senna…I like that! I think it suits you!” Names had a way of doing that, he found out. There was never someone he hadn’t met that wouldn’t suit their name.

“Wanna play, Senna?”

"Quite the opposite, actually," she admitted. "I was surprised, too, but it's done wonders for my balance. I'm still learning how to use it, but it kind of... works on its own." If that made any sense at all. If only she could explain it with more clarity.

Not that she didn't worry about getting it caught sometimes. It was almost twice as long as her old tail had been, and there were moments in which she forgot that there was more of it now. "I guess in a couple of weeks, it won't be too bad. I'm just waiting for it to become second nature."

The striped Mokai grinned. "I like Link too," she said happily. It reminded her a little bit of Seven's name, or Kid's, although she doubted that Link had been named the same way. Only Devin could pull off never properly naming Mokai like he did. But then, it was one of the great things about him and Senna wouldn't have seen it change for the world.

"Play?" Play, he said? She couldn't see any reason why not. The day was fine and she wasn't in the pit. Perfect conditions for playing. "Well... Sure!" She said, launching herself toward him in a tackle.
