His paws hit the floor in an uneven rhythm, breath ragged and hoarse. Where was he, the man he was so desperate to find? Where could he be hiding? The storm above pelted his coat, on the verge of freezing. This forest.... it was so familiar and yet so strange, so foreign. In the back of his mind he knew he may not return home again, may not return to her and embrace her as he had often done so many times, but this was a necessity.
He needed to find him.
His entire life was spent repenting. He needed to find the last one, the final one to repent to. He needed it, his life was incomplete without this final attempt. The back of his mind begged him to turn around, it knew this was hopeless. But he was a man known for his hope, holding onto it tightly while everyone else abandoned it. He was a man that was stuck in his dreams and wishes, he knew this. Long ago he had lost his mind to it, he had lost the ability to coldly move on in the world. Perhaps this was her doing, but now he was here to set things right.
He just...needed to find him. In a way they were always linked. In a way they were connected, even if they spent years denying. Even if they spent so long fighting back one another. This fight had given them a reason to live, and now it was eating away at their life. At least his...
He needed to find him.
He needed to apologize.
He just wanted what he had never had.
He just wanted to fix things.
