It had been some time since Desmond had been back to the cave where he had first met Zoey. He missed her, even though it wasn't that long ago that he had seen her. They had agreed that they would meet near the cave and begin their adventure into the forest and wherever else they chose to go. The thought of seeing Zoey again caused his heart to quicken it's pace in his chest, something he really didn't mind. During their last encounter he had told her he loved her and he honestly had meant it. But he wasn't sure if she loved him or not. Although, he was sure she did, she just hadn't said so yet. Right? Why was he so nervous about seeing her again? It's not like they were dating or anything like that. Or were they? Desmond walked with large steps down the cliff side away from the cave, his steps loud and large. What's happened? Desmond thought to himself as she stared at his hooves.
When he finally reached the bottom he stopped in his place and looked around at the beautiful scenery around him but everything he saw couldn't compare to the image of Zoey in the moonlight that first night. He shook his head, his hair cascading down his neck, not long enough to reach his chest. His massive wings outstretched and stayed where they were. Flying seemed like a good way to get his mind straight but if he did that he would miss her. And he was certainly not going to let that happen. After all, he was looking forward to seeing her again. To feel her gentle nuzzle on his neck, to smell her wonderful scent, to see the beautiful designs that went across her pelt. It was then that he realized that he was indeed in love with her, a feeling he wasn't quite sure how to deal with. Zoey was his first love. His only love.

Zoey had been waiting for today, it was going to be a very good day. It had been awhile since she had seen Desmond and her heart ached in longing to see him. It was a strange sensation, to feel as if you're somewhere you shouldn't be and that there was somewhere else you should be. She ran through the part of the forest that she knew, trying to get to the old cave as quickly as possible. Dodging trees, branches, and foliage made her a little winded but she still ran. "I have to get there soon!" She told herself, "What if he thinks I'm not showing up?" With that incentive, she ran even faster, pushing herself beyond what she thought were her limits. Soon, she came close to the edge of the forest so she slowed to a trot. When she was close enough to see, Zoey noticed that he was still there. Sending up a silent prayer of thanks, she stepped out of the forest. "Desmond!" She said happily, once again running, this time to him. She slid to a stop and nuzzled his neck, close to tears. "I missed you." She said cheesily.

The joy Desmond felt when he heard he heard his name uttered by her and then seeing her face once more was beyond words. As she raced to him and nuzzled his neck he felt his heart stop and beat faster in his chest all in the same turn. "I missed you too." He said with a soft tone as he began to nuzzle her lovingly. He didn't care that either of them might sound cheesy. If he could even notice such a thing. As he pulled away from the nuzzling fest he smiled the biggest grin his mouth would allow. "How have you been sweet Zoey?" Desmond asked as she draped a wing over her.
Surprisingly he found it odd that he loved this mare as much as he did. That her voice, her smell, everything about her drove his heart into overdrive. As he looked at her dark coat he made sure to check to see if any harm had come to her since their last meeting. For once he actually felt like he could take on the world, if it meant protecting her. His smile returned. He would really do anything for her. "Are you excited to go inside the cave?" Desmond asked, his own excitement growing.

"I've been well Desmond! It has seemed like ages since the first time we met." Zoey's face flushed a little at the recollection. "We're going into the cave?" Her voice was shocked since she remembered how he didn't like to be closed in. "I thought you didn't like caves?" She asked sweetly. Zo never wanted to make him do something he didn't want to. "We could always go explore somewhere else that would appeal more to you Dezzy." Her voice sweet and sincere. It dawned on her that she would do anything, go anywhere for Desmond, which was a different feeling for her.
((sorry for the crappy reply! >.<))

"I think I can make an exception this time." Desmond said with a smile, meaning every word. He would venture into the cave because that was what she had wanted to do. And he would do anything she wanted to do to make her happy. "Come on!" Desmond grinned to her before walking into the cave, folding his wings tightly against his back. It wouldn't be very wise for him to leave them open in here just in case there was falling rock or rock formations hanging from the ceiling. "Maybe one day I will brave that cave where we met." He said, looking over at her. "If that is what you wish?" He asked.

"Going into the cave no longer matters to me. The only thing that matters, is being with you." Walking up close to him, she nudged his neck. "We can if you really want to. But if you start feeling uncomfortable, let me know ok?" Zoey looked into the dark depths of the cave, it was so long ago that she had wanted to explore it that she forgot why she had in the first place. But she was up for anything with Desmond.
