Link's Fighting Stats Attack: 1x9 = 9% Defense: 5% Speed: 4% Agility: 1% Intelligence: 1% “Link…? What are we doing out here? It’s late…we…we need to get home!” Lila said quietly, looking around nervously as her mokai dragged her to the compound.
Come on Lila! There’s supposed to be a match here tonight…! I want to show you I am not a useless fighter. Please, just let me prove it to you! Link said quietly, pulling his human. You won’t regret it. I promise! I will do my best…and we might get some of that green paper you two-leggers like! You’ll be happy! The darkened male stopped in front of the compound, peering inside. He could hear the snarls, and cheers from a battle going on currently, and could only cringe at the pained sounds. That was what he had to do… Sighing, he flashed Lila a look of determination, continuing to pull the light-brown headed girl inside.
“Name?” A voice said gruffily, eyeing the dark mokai. “That thing?”
“Uhm…He’s not a thing…He’s Link. And I’m Lila Keaty.”
“Right. Right. You sure you want to enter him?”
“…What am I entering him in?”
The man laughed. “Nothing sweetheart.” The man looked past to the pit, noting that the other fight had ceased. “Alright, toss him in the pit.”
Gripping the leash in her hand, the female walked Link over to the side. “You’re sure about this boy…?” The sight of the blood mixed in the dirt caused her to flinch. But at his tail wag, she couldn’t say anything else. “Alright…Try your best…okay? Don’t get hurt…”
She placed him in the silver chute, where he would be released. Once open, Link trotted out, his eyes searching for his opponent. He had to do better than his last fight(s). He needed to protect Lila, and him being a joke in the pit would not help that. Growling lowly, the male watched, and waited until he spotted his rival. There was no bell to be heard, so Link just charged for him, taking the offensive for the first time ever in a battle.

Keegan stood at the other side of the pit as J-Dub had already been loaded into the starting chute. They had been waiting for only a little while as the last fight that had concluded was nothing short of a god awful mess. Illegal fighting was a risk yet more often than not the pros outweighed the cons. As the aroma of his opponent all but saturated the ring, J-Dub emerged from out of the chute with a sauntering swagger as the other immersed himself onto the scene. A grin wryly tucked at the corner of the fighters maw as he scrutinized him, watching him as the other took to the offense.
For a split second, he looked back to his handler and emitted a low snarl--a signal that he was ready for all hell to break loose.
Shifting his weight back onto his hind legs, the fighter snorted. Tension conjured within the muscles of his hing legs as they became taunt--preparing for just that opportune moment. As the other came within range, J-Dub lunged forward with his jaws ajar.

Link's Fighting Stats Attack: 1x9 = 9% Defense: 5x1 =5% Speed: 4% Agility: 1% Intelligence: 1% For a moment, there was nothing else around. It was just Link, and his striped opponent, inside the slightly darkened grounds. His heart raced as his mind quickly struggled to with what move he should do. Orange eyes focused at the other charging, mouth agape. Was the other going to bite him?
In a last ditch effort before the inevitable colliding of mokais, Link pivoted, twisting his body to the right. Instead of aiming straight on the other mokai, he was to veer off around him, keeping away from the sharp fangs that bore a home in his maw.
Skidding across the ground, Link scurried towards the male, his feet pushing off the ground in a jump.
It wasn’t Link’s intent to injure the male, but the sounds the previous battlers had emitted was something that told him that he had to do something. Gulping away his motto ‘if it’s not fun, don’t do it’, Link put on his best attempt of an angry face as he landed at J-Dub’s back. At the last minute, he found himself hesitating, leaving him vulnerable to a quick attack.

An irritated snarl rippled across his lips. Irritation with this fighter was brooding and, inside, J-Dub could feel his anger kindling. There was something about being thrown into the ring that riled his adrenaline to the ninth degree and urged him to deliver a brutal beat down. The wild and unruly tendencies of his feral instincts were still very much alive and perhaps being pitted against another, against his own kind that had been responsible for unveiling where their pack resided only instigated that harbored hatred for domestics.
Unfortunately he himself was now a so called 'domestic' yet he would never have the goddamn audacity to be used as a tool to betray, let alone kill, his own kind.
Whipping around, J-Dub met Link head on and snapped at the back of his neck--hoping to take control of the situation and to restrain him. truthfully, his intentions were not malicious but, in a dog eat dog world, he had to be at the top of his game. Admittedly, this Mokai was showing promise. Perhaps after the scuffle, J-Dub could get to know him just a bit better.
Hell, he was all for fun and games but that s**t didn't have its place in the ring.

Link's Fighting Stats Attack: 1x9 = 9% Defense: 5x1 = 5% Speed: 4x1 = 4% Agility: 1% Intelligence: 1% When teeth met his nape, Link cried out. (He heard Lila do the same as well.) This fight was turning out to be different from the others, in the aspect that there was pain involved. The time for fun and games was over, but the thought just couldn’t get past Link’s mind. Another thing that was different, was the fact the boos he had instigated the first few battles were not present in this fight. The two mokai were putting on a good display for the humans watching.
Link’s thought process slowed. His instinct told him to still himself, not to fight. This fighter appeared to have more skills (or at least more will) than himself. He best just should let him when.
But when his gaze met Lila’s terrified blue orbs, his attitude changed. He was in this for her… So she wouldn’t be the laughing stock of the compound.
Not sure exactly how he should get the other to let go of his scruff, Link fell to the ground, attempting to roll. If the other wouldn’t let go from the drop, maybe the potential of being squished by the male would change his thoughts.
…Maybe…

J-Dubs grasp upon his opponents neck was enough to ensure to restrain the other just a bit. His powerful jowls attempted to tighten except that opponent had, momentarily, remained stagnant in place. What the hell? Was the other Mokai out of his damn mind? unconsciously, his teeth gritted fiercely together as his grip emphasized the severity of the issue.
"If yo' don' keep movin' 'den yo' a** is gonna be dragged all ova' the ring. Jus' go wif' ya' instincts."
The advice was good, simple, and straightforward. The dynamics of illegal fights were vastly different from those of the legal fights; their own contrast were stark in the cliche' comparison of light and dark. Truth be told, it was a more accurate analogy than anything else. When one was thrown into the illegal pits, there were no rules nor regulations: it was as savage, ruthless, environment which tainted the dreams of both fighters and culls--for many, it embodied what Hell was thought to be like.
Keegan watched the fight with her arms crossed against her chest. There was an aspect of illegal fights that had never boded well within her stomach yet it was an efficient method for a fighter to gain more experience within a short time frame. Admittedly, the money was enough to help keep she and Talonth afloat while commissions were slow---something to help sustain them while times were uncertain.
His ocher orbs watched while the sensation of altitude shifting was enough to cause him to release his grip. J-Dub swayed slightly but caught himself with a step backwards.
With his opponent on the ground, this only made things a bit more--damn, this fight alone was just straight up weird. J-Dub didn't eve know how to describe it. But hell, for now, he'd keep that to himself. Even still the adrenaline was coursing through his veins, pulsating throughout his entire body. And with it, he lunged forward for another attack.

Link's Fighting Stats Attack: 1x9 = 9% Defense: 5x1 = 5% Speed: 4x1 = 4% Agility: 1x8 = 8% Intelligence: 1% Lunging off the ground as soon as h felt the other off him, Link ran towards the edge of the pit, his tail between his legs, in an attempt to get away from the other male. When he found there was no place really to hide, he turned around, noting the quick advances of the other still hot on his trail.
Instead of hesitating again, Link uttered a low growl, his fur bristling. It was now or never. He tried to decipher through the other’s accent when he had spoke moments ago, picking out the words that hit home.
Somehow, even though Link was trying to look, and act of that of what a fighter should, it still made him appear like an angry puppy: something you could tell was mad, but didn’t exactly show the ferocity of a full grown adult.
Go. Go. Go! Move! he willed himself, his limbs shaking lightly as they stepped in front of one in another. It seemed like an eternity, but in reality, just half-a-second had passed, before Link had managed to run straight at the male with full force. He didn’t try to veer around the male; instead, he was going for the head-on collision. Lowering his head, staring at the ground as he ran, he aimed to head butt the other. This is going to hurt in the morning… he whimpered inwardly.

It was about damn time that the other started acting like a fighter. In J-Dub's perspective, a fighter needed to have a mental breakthrough in order to penetrate and dismantle the walls that they had erected themselves to keep them from being a hell of an opponent. And that was exactly what had come to fruition.
As the other barreled toward him, J-Dub met the collision head on. The force was damn powerful and he knew that he was going to feel the after effect of it all tomorrow morning. The male fighter reeled back, stumbling and found his rump to hit against the back wall. A ringing sensation echoed within the confines of his skull that made him snarl to himself.
"Shiiiiiit," he scowled, gritting his jowls. "Dat's a hellova' hit."
J-Dub shook himself off and charged forward. His eyes targeted the others flank while his jaws sprung ajar.

Link's Fighting Stats Attack: 1x9 = 9% Defense: 5x1 = 5% Speed: 4x1 = 4% Agility: 1x8 = 8% Intelligence: 1x5 = 5% Small birds floating across Link’s vision as he swayed from the hit. His sight was clouded; a shake or two of the head cause the dark mokai to fall to the ground. Groaning, Link waited for his vision to return to normal, before he tempted to open his eyes again. Unfortunately, the other had already recovered, and was charging one more time at the mokai.
Time to move.
Scratching at the ground as he tried to get up quickly, he felt jaws clasp onto his flank, emitting a cry from the dark mokai. “Let go!” He cried out, snapping his jaws at the other in pain. He had seen the other mokai around that bore ‘accessories’ that would aid them in battles. He wasn’t one of the lucky ones to be blessed with such. Perhaps this was the reason that a lot of his opponent stuck to using their jaws.
He felt his jaw land on something, and instantly crushed down. If others could use it, so could he.

J-Dub narrowed his eyes and snorted, shooting the other an adamant glare. Let go? Was there any other volatile, enraged expression that he could conjure? Damn, this boy needed a hell of a one on one on how to be intimidating. At this rate, he'll be scaring off the ladies from admonishing him. Oh well, that would leave more ladies for him to love. And that was a punishment he would gladly accept.
As he was about to relinquish his grip, his opponent caught hold of his back flank. An erupting howl adorned with a voracious snarl flashed against his maw. "********! Oh, you'se a sly b***h, huh? I see yo' style. Now dat' yo' got 'dem feral instincts comin' ta' play you'll be a wil' one!"
Pain? Hell, if this was pain then he'd tank it without a flinch! This s**t was easy.
Reeling his back legs close, J-Dug reared back onto his forepaws and kicked outward to loosen the others grip. The fight itself felt like a blur when the signal was given for closure and the end of the match. Looking over his shoulder, uncertain if the other was still latched onto him, J-Dub gave him a quick smack of his paw along his face.
"What's wrong wid' yo', son? You'll be frightenin' the ladies away if you call out wid' some shitty a** remark like dat!" His face was etched with a stern seriousness as he snorted. He had to get that off his chest.
Although after knocking some sense into the other, J-Dub gave a hearty pat onto his opponents shoulder as a wry grin tugged at his maw.
"Ya did a'ight, son. Keep dat s**t up an you'll be pounding the asses of foo's in the ring!"

Link’s ears pinned back. What was wrong with this male’s voice. Where ever he had come from, they must have had some strange way of talking, because this one was sure different. He caught a few words, and assumed the ones that were really stated fully meant something that is was close. He was silent though; it was rude to comment on someone’s speech.
He did understand his last comment however. After the match had been signaled over (which Link had missed, but when the other no longer attacked him, and the waning sounds of the crowd beginning to die away), he narrowed his eyes just slightly.
“I don’t care about ‘the ladies’.” Link said softly, getting up on shaky paws, turning his head towards his owner. She looked relieved, to say the least. But there was a little bit of anger behind those blue eyes. He…was sure he wasn’t going to get any belly rubs tonight.
“I only care about her.” He turned back to the other, giving him a small smile. His tail gave a brief wag at the other’s comment. It wasn’t exactly how Link would have phrased it.
“You think so? Lila would be so happy then…” His ears perked at the whistle emitting from his owner’s lips. Time to go. “I’m going to try! Who knows…maybe we will see each other on the other side of the fighting ring…” He began to trot off, leaving the underground pit for the first time. Who knew what he would become. All he had to do, was train a little more, and somehow find the balance between fun and duty when it came to battles. If he found that, then perhaps he could be a great battler yet.

J-Dub scrutinized him as he eyed to where his attention was being drawn towards. Oh? Well, humans weren't gonna give him the loving that he'll be craving sooner or later. That was a fact. A rumbling laugh erupted from his chest as he shook his head. "Damn, son--she's fine fo' a two-legger but 'm talkin' about the ladies that ya' may be wantin' ta get down wif', ya'mean?"
Hopefully he had illustrated the context just enough for him where he could make a connection or paint his own imagination. Deep down, J-Dub was certain that this male couldn't simply just rely on his owner---because there was definitely a species barrier.
"Damn right! Jus' keep doin' what yo' doin'---kick a** an' take name, son!" A broad grin stretched across his face as he watched the other depart. Hell, he could sense there were some damn-tastic things to come.
"I look fo'ward to it, homes, I look fo'ward to it."
