Screw thanksgiving, screw christmas, and screw the holidays in general, really.
Really, she'd never been a fan, for the most part, thanks to her non-existant family life - the holidays seasons was never really a good time for Darryl, and not a period of the year she enjoyed. If they weren't so family oriented, maybe...

So it made sense that Hesperis was looking for a nega to beat up, or maybe even one of those dark mirror senshi she'd heard about. The page had been more or less reclusive lately, mostly flying solo for the most part, and so far it had worked out okay for her. Bump and scratches, but those were common.
The young page jumped off the rooftop and back in the street below, pondering what her next destination would be. Just her luck, it seemed like evil had taken the holiday off.

Marie had been taking a shortcut. A shortcut to where, she didn’t exactly know – she didn’t have a firm destination in mind – but she decided that it was a shortcut, so a shortcut it was. Then an amazing, glowy figure literally dropped from the skies before her, and Marie had a new goal: get to the glowy person.
Marie liked sewing, liked it a lot. That was one thing she had thought was interesting about Destiny City when she first arrived: the different people running around in intricate costumes. The problem was that apparently a lot of those people were “terrorists,” so getting close enough to them in person to examine their outfits was not exactly easy. But here, here was someone with pretty, glowy clothes, and terrorist or not, Marie was going to get a close-up inspection.
Little brown paws carried Marie’s chubby body across the concrete with surprising speed until she came to a stop at Hesperis’ feet.
“ Er-” No, wait, talking usually frightened people, and she didn’t want to scare the glowy-person away. “ … Mew?”
The ensuing attempt by Marie to look innocent probably look more comical then anything.

Mew ? Ah... a furball. Wait... furball with a star on it's forehead ?
Wait. Those were the senshi's cats, weren't there ? Hesperis grinned a bit. "Heya down there. Did you lose your senshi ?" She asked the cat, crossing her arms - thankfully she hadn't taken her staff out of subspace yet - and pondered if guardian cats had something against being petted.
She really didn't see enough of Tomlin - Erika's cat - to know that much so far. Through, why was this cat pretending to be a cat. "Im okay to talk to, im a knight. Are you new... ?"

Lost her senshi? Seeing as how she had never had a senshi - didn't even know what one was - she was pretty sure she hadn't lost one. Speaking gibberish aside, the glowy person said she could talk, so talk she would.
" No, I never had a senshi. Should I have one?"
Maybe the girl had meant sensei? Or... or sushi! Marie could go for some sushi.
" And it's nice to meet ya', Miss Knight. I do love dat glowy look you got goin' on."

Somehow... That voice felt familiar. The accent, especially. But... No, no freaking way... Right ?
Still, Hesperis did stare at the cat with wide eyes when the first sentence came out. "Mar-" s**t ! No, no, no, bad ! But she couldn't find a way to twist the syllable, and so the young knight of mercury did the usual.
Screwed up ? Pretend it never happened.
"Arn't you a guardian cat, through ? That means you have a senshi, right ?" At least she had no need to feign ignorance here. Hesperis was indeed clueless.
"It's nice to meet you too, and thanks ! It is really nice." She grinned. "You can call me Hesperis."

Marie cocked her head slightly at Hesperis’ slip of the tongue, curious about what the girl had been about to say, but managed to refrain from asking.
“ Guardian cat?” She asked slowly, as if drawing out the words would help her comprehend them. “ Couldn’t say. What ya’ gotta do to become one? I was human ‘til recently, see, so maybe I was real good and got turned into one? Or real bad; can’t say I like dis cat business.”
The lack of thumbs still bothered Marie, along with the lack of height. At least she was meeting some interesting new people to make up for it.
“ Hesperis? Dat’s a unique name, and mighty nice; sounds classic-like. I’m just plain ol’ Marie, human-gone-cat at your service. I suspect I ain’t got one, but if you’d ‘splain to me what a “senshi” is, I could tell ya’ for sure.”
