"Quack."

"Quack."

"QUACK."

"QUACK!"

Kathryn's head shot upwards as she jumped to all four paws. Stormy gray eyes took in the culprit who had ruined a purrfectly good cat nap. A brace of ducks had landed in the pond she was resting by and it seemed that a few were brave enough to torment the brown lumpy thing lying in the grass. In their eyes Kathryn was probably an easy target. She hissed at the birds as her fur fluffed up. This was unreal. If she'd been human she could have had the ducks flying everywhere in fright. As a cat she just didn't have that persuasive power.

Grumbling to herself about the mentality of stupid ducks Kathryn strolled further into the shadows that the trees provided. That had been the perfect spot to nap in too. The sun had been shining down at just the right angle and there was a light breeze blowing which had tempered the heat from the sun. Rustling leaves had Kathryn's nerves prickling with unease. Something or someone was causing the disturbance. Her paws skidded off a rock and she fell flat on her stomach.
