Usually Sammy kept to her room in the demon dorms less she was visiting a friend, today though she was lounging in one of the many over decorated common rooms. Slumped in a chair her feet where propped up on the table. In her hand was a book from the library, a general history of Halloween, what she was reading for she didn't say, she just kept reading, feet propped on the table boots scuffing the likely over priced wood.

"Never did like history classes either..." she muttered turning another page with her black boned fingers.

It was taking Zar some time just to explore the ornate Demon dorms, he hadn't even dared venture out properly yet, overwhelmed enough just by the change of setting from his normally drab and silent home. He was a creature of habit and habit meant change came slowly and patiently. He had also learned the hard way that many demons seemed to have a fondness for slippery hoof unfriendly flooring and as such had fallen several times since even getting here and was now of a grim determination he would get some manner of rubber-like goat-shoes if such a thing existed. If it didn't he intended to invent it.

He was just rearranging his coat and smoothing out his hair after almost slipping for what felt like the fifth time that day when he spotted someone in the common room as he passed. He stopped, tail flicking at the tip like an interested cat as he backpedalled and slipped into the room curiosity seized. She certainly didn't look like any demon he'd ever seen, especially her arm. That certainly wasn't normal as far as he was concerned, and he couldn't take his eyes off it. He had lived a very sheltered little life, surrounded by almost exclusively demons and though he'd seen any number of horns and spikes and tails and wings, he'd never seen someone with bones. Or skin quite that hue.

Still, he was curious and wandered over to sit in a chair nearby. Not /too/ nearby, but near enough he wouldn't end up causing awkwardness when spotted later.

For the most part Sammy had ignored every person coming through the common room, out of a handful that passed by she would nod or share words with. Barth, Riley, and Carry to name just a few. So when Zar wandered in she hardly even thought to pay attention to the boil, instead she turned another page before reaching beside her with that blackened bone to grab her drink.

After all a decent number of Demons, and their families frowned on her place in the Demon dorms, some accepted it and welcomed her, and the rest blissfully where too stuck up to bother caring about her. Zar fell somewhere between all that though; 'Gawking and Staring' was not something most demons did when they saw in Undead lounging about their dorm like it was home.

Eventually the presence of someone watching her became just a bit too much, she lowered the book ever so slightly, yellow eyes spotting Zar easily in the otherwise empty room in his own chair.

"Do you need something?"

Zar almost immediately blurted out the question he'd been running over and over in his head since he'd sat down, completely ignoring the original question he was asked in favour of asking the bleedingly obvious.

"You aren't a demon are you?"

It sounded much cleverer in his head but the longer it was out there, the more agonisingly stupid it sounded. Way to interrupt someone's reading and make yourself look like an idiot in the process.

Well that was blunt.

The book in her right hand snapped shut as the ghoul took another sip of her drink. Eyeing the demon with lazy discontent. The book was tossed casually at her feet as she slowly sat up, the leather of the chair squeaking ever so slightly as the camo sporting zombie sat up.

"So was it the skin? Really I didn't think my skin looked that bad I mean I've got a few nasty scars that never really healed up." She tapped her chin with her left hand lazily. "Oh no no no, it was the eyes right? Kinda glossed over?" She looked at her hand a mock look of shock, "Or was it my arm woe is me!"

She fell back into the seat resting her elbow on the arm of it, chin on her boney fist. "Really, I think by now most of you Demon's would be done being shocked at me lingering around here."

Zar actually found himself getting pretty defensive at this sarcasm, frowning and almost pouting as his posture got even more stiff than it normally was, tail flicking. His defensiveness wasn't so much directed at her insomuch as it was denial of the fact he'd just said such a completely tactless thing.

"Well I'm new, I'm allowed some leeway in terms of shock I'd like to think." He snapped, before softening his expression apologetically, he wasn't here to make enemies, he reminded himself. "But yes, you are right, I'm sorry, that was rude. I've just..not seen many people who look like you before and didn't expect to run into anyone other than demons here in the dorms."

Sammy however remained ever casual with her motions, it was the same song and dance she had done before with other Demons and she was always at ease with it. Leaning over she poked a few papers on the table grabbing a pen and scribbling a few things down before looking up at the snappy voice of the demon near by.

"Being new doesn't give you a right to be 'shocked' just because you haven't seen a regular old undead." She crossed a few more things off her list reaching to leaf through another book on the table. "Well get used to running into me, I live here outside of normal school policies." She snapped another book shut making another note before sitting back in her chair, one leg crossed over the other, and she held her haterade like it was in a goblet rather then a bottle; like proper arrogant demon might.

"At least you apologized, most Demon's prefer to keep up the rude front or just flat out insult me."

Zar eyed her as if sizing her up from where he sat, with most people he could generally tell right off of the bat if he would get away with being rude or if he'd be better off being submissive and trying to placate their ego, but with Sammy, he hadn't decided either way. So he conceded the apology and remained civil, but didn't quite go to the usual extreme of being over the top apologetic for everything.

"Maybe not the right to, doesn't change the fact that I am. Is there any reason you live here rather than.." he assumed the undead students had to have some form of living space, a crypt or something, he had no idea. "..wherever the others like you might live?"

He still figured he owed some courtesy, especially after the subtle approval of his apology earlier "No offense intended with that either. Ignorance makes rude people of us all, I'm afraid."

Sammy was a wild card indeed, easy to piss off one day, and rather tolerable the next. Though in this case her patients often ran thin when dealing with demons who questioned her presence in the dorm.

"Well you've gotten one of the smaller shocks of our school out of the way then. Yes an Undead lives here in the demon dorms, she plans to stay." She gathered the books on the table and aranged a few papers before smirking, "Because some demons like to do things that get them kicked out of school. Originally I was sentenced to spend a few weeks living her in the Demon dorms to work out my... attitude issues. Towards Demons. My 'friend' was sent to the Undead dorm basement to work on his issues. He was kicked out of school and well, no one told me to move back so I kept the room with a view." She sneered slightly, "Really, the second story here is leaps beyond a basement."

She paused for a moment, "Stop saying others, we're Undead, and we don't exactly take kindly to the whole vauge gestures and rude names. Simply put we are either, Undead, Patchworks, and what ever sub species. I know a Plauge Doctor for example, it has a wonderful touch for putting things back together."

That made sense at least, some sort of punishment that had stuck around. He couldn't blame her either, he certainly wouldn't want to live in a basement when there was the option of the demon dorms instead, even if it did result in a few funny looks along the way.

"Then I can't really object to your reasoning. This is a nice place. I'd be rather put out if I was asked to leave it myself. And thankfully I've not really been around the undead" he made sure to use the correct term this time "enough to get any sort of prejudice against them. As far as I'm concerned, you seem just as civilised as anyone else I've met thusfar."

He nodded his head "So its a pleasure to meet you. I'm Zar."

He had been doing good at not pushing her buttons but whatever good graces he was earning he quickly back peddled by adding a thankfully before the whole being around the Undead part. Her eyebrow shot up ever so slightly and he continued. She wasn't quiet sure if she should be insulted or relieved at what he said.

"If I'm civilized that would be a problem, you haven't seen me outside of this room and without a book in front of me." She sat forward on the chair holding her whole right hand out, "Samantha Lee, Sammy more often then not, so tell me, just what kind of demon are you? I've met Averices, Mindflayers, and a hand full of others before."

Zar took the offered hand and gave it a firm precise handshake and a nod, Sammy. He made note of the name. He didn't want to go forgetting names of his new aquaintences, determined to make as good a first impression as he could. His father'd made it abundantly clear this was his last chance and he was determined not to mess it up.

Still, there was always the issue of explaining just /which/ sort of demon he was. "Well. I'm an Incubus. Not the kind that for some reason many people I've met assume at least. I'm not interested in lust as a general rule, just..another breed of emotion.." he rustled his wings as he sought for a clearer way to put it "Basically, paperwork is my means to an end of choice. Frustration, irritation, helplessness. That sort of thing."

He felt he was babbling again and just summed it up. "Paperwork Incubus."

Well he seemed to have an honest handshake but didn't every demon? They loved practicing to make sure they made everything perfect and to the point. Everyone except Barth, but then again he almost seemed to lazy to fall in the cunning evil mastermind department.

"Paperwork...?" Sitting back she raised her eyebrow as if in deep thought, "A Paperwork, Incubus." Eventually she closed her eyes shaking her head slowly, "I honestly don't get that at all, but I suppose someone has to keep track of all the contracts and deals that go on in the world of Demons."

Zar smiled faintly and nodded. "I suppose that somewhere along the line, my father's family decided that all that messy lust business wasn't suited to them and simply redirected their efforts in a more profitable direction. At least that's what I assume." it was the theory he liked to entertain, it made it a little easier to be a complete awkward failure in the charm department while still being what essentially was a demon renowned for its ability to woo and dazzle with it's suave grace.

"Paperwork's a great deal less complicated I have to say."
