❉Division: Seventh ❉Rank: Captain ❉Reiatsu Color: Golden ❉Fighting Style: Waka is mostly a hit and run type of fighter, preferring to strike when the opponent is over confident, just to taunt them. Additionally, he dislikes using his zanpakuto to fight, instead using the katana he carries on his side. This often leads people to think that is his zanpakuto and makes them wary of his movements with it.

As such, he has excellent reach to his abilities and can put a lot of power into his fighting. ❉Unreleased form: When sealed, Sukoshi Nakidori takes the shape of a flute, not the katana that Waka also carries with him. ❉Release Command: Sing them a song, Sukoshi Nakidori

❉Shikai Appearance: A glowing blade extends from the flute, the actual flute itself become the hilt of the sword. ❉Shikai Information: Aside from being a glowing blade coming from the flute, there's nothing really special about it. ❉Shikai Techniques: ✿1. Nakidori no aika Waka brings his sword across his palm, charging the blade with large amounts of reiryoku, making it glow brighter and become even sharper than normal. With each swing of the blade, it unleashes a burst of the stored reishi to cause the opponent to stumble or take damage. Any reishi based attacked by Waka will forcibly add the stored reishi within the blade, giving it a buff. (9 post duration, 7 post recharge) ✿2. Nakidori no mure Waka brings the sword across his palm and it launches nine bird shape blasts of reishi that flap after the opponent. While they are fast, they are also very weak. (3 post duration, 3 post recharge)
± : . : ± : . : ± : . : ±Bankai Information± : . : ± : . : ± : . : ± Only available to Captain rank and higher. ❉Bankai Name: Zetsubō-tekina songubādo ❉Bankai Appearance: Waka's bankai does not appear any different from his Shikai, however, there is a noticeable difference in power. ❉Bankai Information: Although his bankai is not noticeably different in appearance, it almost sounds as if a bird is singing the sorrows in the world as Waka fights. He releases his bankai with the phrase "Bring Sorrow on the winds, Zetsubō-tekina songubādo" ❉Bankai Attacks: ✿1. Zetsubō-tekina nakidori no kōru Waka points the reishi blade of the zanpakuto at a target and it extends in a blast of reiatsu, aiming to impale the foe upon the beam of a blade. (Instant use, 3 post recharge) ✿2. Zetsubō-tekina nakidori no hane Swinging the zanpakuto, Waka creates a breeze that soon becomes a whirling dervish. The dervish carries all the danger of a scaled down category 5 tornado. Essentially, the chibi tornado has the ability to slice and tear through clothing and poor armor. (Used one post, becomes a dervish the next, vanishes. 5 post recharge) ✿3. Zetsubō-tekina nakidori no yorokobi Waka literally comes as close as he can to self-destructing. His most dangerous move by far, he charges energy and spouts large golden wings with a silver aura. After charging up all his reishi, he rushes the target, detonating shortly afterwards. While the move does not necessarily kill Waka, it only leaves him with enough to reiatsu to heal grievous injuries before leaving him to fall unconscious. Additionally, this move seals his zanpakuto. The damage it can cause is rather large, able to bomb from one side of a street to the other and crush vehicles and the like. However, in comparison to some moves, Waka's are still noticeably weaker than others. This is his last resort. (1 post charge, 1 post chase, 1 post use.)
± : . : ± : . : ± : . : ± Biography± : . : ± : . : ± : . : ± ❉ This is my story: Waka is one of the many Shinigami who had a unique life before their death. Before his death, Waka was a very, very spiritually aware human and became a Shrine Keeper as soon as he could. He soon found the life somewhat boring, but necessary. It wasn't long until he found a sort of escape. One day, an emissary came to the village. This man was said to be a friend and helper to all spirits, and he wandered the land in search of those to help. Waka talked to the traveler as he stayed and was given the chance to become the emissary's apprentice.
It was on the road that Waka began to notice things more clearly, having experienced nothing but the peace of his own village. The man, his master and teacher, had a much different attitude than Waka had and it was shown by the animals, or the spirits of, that they attracted. The teacher attracted the foxes and other predatory animals, such as cats and dogs. Waka himself attracted birds, particularly songbirds. Due to their job the teacher and Waka were decently off in their travels, and Waka eventually bought himself a flute so he may play to the spirits, especially his songbird friends. However, on a fateful night, war broke out very suddenly and the master was killed, leaving Waka to fend for himself. He was taken prisoner and forced into servitude at a castle.
At the palace, Waka was thrown in front of the general who ruled the land like many others. Those who refused to answer the man were beheaded on the spot. Their spirits were visible to Waka, and the sights tormented him. When it came his turn to answer, he was asked what skills he possessed. The man had seen the flute and surmised instantly that Waka was an entertainer. Waka answered that he was not an entertainer, a swordsman, or farmer. He told the general that his skills were not of the body. The executioner raised his sword to Waka and was about to kill him before being interrupted. The general told Waka to stand and tell him what he saw. With his eyes closed, the young and beaten emissary could see nothing, but he knew of the spirits wishing vengeance upon the man before him. Amused, the general told Waka that he may live if he served in the castle for five years. Broken, he sadly agreed. Even though the beginning had been rough, the year after his capture was very good. His life had even become better with each passing year in fact. At first he was treated as a servant, but eventually, he was given his own quarters, his own assistants, and finally his own home upon the fourth year. Waka was truly amazed. The general had passed on, but the son was a spiritual person, and that is what led to Waka's great life. Even with closed eyes, Waka saw life around him pass, and within his fifth year he had mastered swordsmanship as any man should have done. The now veteran emissary had enjoyed life quite well, and even stayed an additional four years to help the son and his sons. Finally he left, getting a full ceremonial farewell, having been amongst the royalty of the town in which he had been forced to reside. The day after, Waka died under mysterious circumstances. Although medicine of the time could not diagnose it, he had had a sort of flash back and walked out of his cart and down the road, only to walk up and off a cliff. Due to the angle of the path and the time of day casting the golden light of dusk, those with him had swore he walked up a divine stairway and ascended into a state of godliness. This was not true, but for a short time after, those who were spiritually aware sometimes have claimed to see a man in fine clothing watching them through closed eyes before walking away. This of course was Waka, watching the people around him. It was in this way he was called "The Celestial Envoy" for the duration of his appearances before Shinigami came to him and sent him to the Seireitei.
Waka's life in the Seireitei was of course vastly different since everyone was a spirit, and thus he could see none. However, he had seen some he had seen while alive and also knew he was dead. It was to his fortune that he still had his fine clothes and that he was thought to be a noble and offered lots of assistance, even though he had tried to proclaim otherwise in his now trauma softened voice. It wasn't long after that some Shinigami looking for recruits passed by him and felt the abnormal reiatsu, abnormal for one who had no idea what it really was or how to use it. Guessing it couldn't be worse than life now, he joined Shino Academy and gradually made his way through like everyone else, showing no potential despite the abnormally large reiatsu. As it stands, he worked through several divisions, always hopping from one to the next as he found a dislike for the members of the squad. He even tells himself that he would not be a Shinigami now if it was not for the fact he wishes to make up for his actions while alive, so that he may open his eyes upon a world without malice. Waka has furthered promised to himself that there will be only two things deserving his gaze. The first would be those who seemed pure of heart, and wished to end the evils of life and soul. The second would be to crush those who were corrupt and devilish in their task and desires with the seriousness of his stare.
± : . : ± : . : ± : . : ±Extra Information± : . : ± : . : ± : . : ±
❉Personal Skill: Excessive Reiatsu Waka has demonstrated the ability to bring people of a lower level than his own to their knees by releasing his reiatsu, despite showing no real potential with it. Even his own moves seem rather weak. Shunpo Master Waka's best quality in combat is his speed by far, and although he is terrifyingly fast with his geta on, he is a true sight to behold with them off, which he only does when he is "serious". Ambidextrous Waka is ambidextrous due to both his flute playing and his carrying of two weapons, he has shown that he is in fact able to easily wield a weapon in either hand, although his left is weaker than his right. ❉Likes Waka enjoys hot tea, sunny days, beautiful sunsets, music, playing his flute, and pleasant conversation ❉Dislikes: He dislikes rude people, uncultured people, rain, dead songbirds, disrespect, having to disrespect another, forgetting his formalities and manners, cold tea, dull conversation, having to fight, servitude, evil intentions, war mongers, and other varieties of the listed things. ❉Hates: Waka hates to open his eyes and using his zanpakuto in a fight (He even apologizes to it if he must do so). He also truly hates those of exceptionally evil intent. ❉Theme Song: Modern Strange Cowboy- Artist Unknown

Waka is a soft spoken man with a face that only allows the most general signs of emotion to cross his face. Whether it be a smile, a frown, or a quiet laugh, it is hard to determine his exact feelings on a situation, only usually able to know whether he finds it enjoyable or not. Most of his time is spent with a slight smile on his face, as he truly enjoys his life as a Shinigami, only frowning when he finds the situation calls for it.
He also has a strong belief in what he sees as "good" and "evil," and if, in either case, it is necessary. Such beliefs stem from his life as a human, and consequently, make his quiet personality more understandable. He has commented that he and the members of his Division are "on equal ranks" and that anyone is as skilled as him, the title of "Captain" meaning nothing, only making others think higher of him. In turn, when he gives orders, he will almost always try to make them out as favors or requests, rather than a direct command. It is because of this, that one can almost believe that the only bit of leadership skills he actually has is appearing so defenseless that you can't help but want to do what he asks lest he hurt himself.
Even without his somewhat hard to read face, and other qualities, other things about his personality stick out as well. He is consistently proper, unless spoken to in an extremely rude fashion. Even when told not to address someone formally, he does so by habit, and has been known to struggle with not speaking to someone formally after being told not to for a short while. Although fitting in the noble houses, of which he has no connection to, inside the Gotei, it makes him one of many oddball members. This is also coupled with his voice, which never raises, as one would expect of such a quiet individual. Perhaps even more bizarre is they way he acts. Almost all Shinigami have their own particular quirks, but his largest quirk stands out like a flame among embers. Waka's title as "The Gotei's Weakest" is one he refuses to fight; and in fact only helps the title spread, as if he believes it himself. This particular quirk, that he is "the weakest of any member of the Gotei Thirteen," is one he simply refuses to put down, and if anything, he actively encourages others to think this way. All in all, his entire being seems to shout out he is not Captain material, leading his Captaincy one of the most challenged positions in a short period of the Gotei's History. Sexual Preference:

Background:
One of many Shinigami with a particularly colorful, if not tragic, life before death, Waka was born healthy to a mother and father in Central Japan. As a child, he was always quiet, only crying when hungry. His parents believed he was a blessed child, and by extension, they had been given a wonderful gift. Waka's parents had no idea just exactly how spot on they were. The boy had been born with an extremely keen spiritual awareness. So sharp was this sense of spirits, that at a young age, Waka could interact with those normal people could not see, if he focused intently. Such interactions were only seconds long, but would be, by a Shinigami's view on a human as incredibly impressive. Due to his connection with the dead, his parents pushed him into becoming a Shrine Keeper. It was easy enough for Waka. The priest was a good teacher, and his job was necessary. But like many young folk, he grew bored of this life. He wanted to travel, but had no excuse to do so.
His "salvation" as it were, did come. Two years after becoming a Shrine Keeper and the priest's only disciple, a traveler came into town. He was a traveling priest of sorts. Primarily a powerful exorcist, he claimed to be a friend to the spirits of the world, using peaceful means to persuade spirits from places, and often helping them move on as well. Enamored by the sound of the wandering life from the tales woven by this man who addressed himself as "The Spiritual Emissary," Waka bothered the man every chance he had. Although Waka's approach was rude, the Emissary laughed it off as the pluckiness of being between a boy and a man. He agreed to take the boy, so long as Waka's parents would also agree. Although it took much begging from the young Shrine Keeper, his parents eventually gave in. They had decided that so long as his job had not truly changed, there could be little harm in traveling. The next day, Waka became the apprentice of the Spiritual Emissary.
Although only two months had passed, the man who had taken Waka under his wing was impressed with the boys intuition and connection to the spirits, as well as his ability to learn his job quickly. Although unorthodox, he decided the boy was earning at least some of the money they were making, giving him a very small portion of their earnings to keep for himself. Waka was grateful for this, as he hadn't earned such a thing even after two years of working in the village Shrine. Within that year, he learned many things, and bought himself a simple but sturdy flute. The flute was for the animals he seemed to attract, just a bit of knowledge he had earned on his journeys with his teacher and master. Waka himself attracted songbirds of many varieties. In turn, he played his songs for them. His teacher attracted friendly, albeit predatory animals, mostly the dogs that inhabited the wilds or small villages. Although curious about such things, he never asked. He felt it would be disrespectful to the man who had been so kind to take him from his village and into the world, and later, had given him the means to buy the very first thing he had ever bought for himself. Unbeknownst to Waka, it would also be the only thing he would have to remind himself of his teacher, the man who had always been called the Spiritual Emissary.
They had been well off. For three years, Waka had been saving enough money to buy his teacher a great gift, something valuable and precious. He spent only what he had to on his meals and stays inside of inns and bathing, but otherwise stowed it away. And within a month, just in time for Waka's next birthday, they would be back at his home town. He could see his parents again, yet another gift from the aging man who had taken the young Emissary in training under his wing. That night they stayed in a fairly large town in a nice inn. That night, the town was under attack. Everything was hectic. The town had no soldiers to defend themselves and the people were in panic. Many were killed while they tried to fled, including Waka's master and teacher. Those that weren't killed but had not escaped were captured. Tied up and dragged through the woods, it was nearly daybreak when the prisoners, numbering close to fifty, were brought into what looked like a lord's home. Indeed, that's what it was; the nearby lord had ransacked the town and captured any that did not escape. Lined up, they were forced to their knees as the lord and general of the army came forth. Starting at the prisoner on the farthest right, the general asked a few questions, and then executed the man himself after moments of silence.
Waka watched in horror. What was even more terrifying, was the torment that followed. Being at the end of the line, he knew he would be the last to go, and many of the men and women who had been brought were killed. Their answers had been poor or nonexistent, and as such they had been executed. Each and every one had been searched, and their belongings had been thrown in front of them into the dirt. Each one had become a soul, and they all thirsted for vengeance from Waka: the last in line, the one closest to the spirits. It was too much, and the mental scars being torn into his brain were only growing. With everyone else dead or sent into the palace, Waka screamed in a fit of unnatural panic, exhibiting adrenaline fueled strength as he threw his captors back and sprinted for the woods. Arrows were let loose, none found their mark. Tears fell from his eyes as Waka tripped, sliding only a few feet short of safety in the woods. The soldiers caught him and held him down, awaiting their lord's orders. The Lord, the general that had caused so much pain for the boy took his time, taking the flute from Waka. It was presumed, by the general, Waka was an entertainer. He was asked: What were his skills? What could he do? Waka looked up, eyes shut, only the remnants of tears in them, staying silent, but the Lord did not strike him down, not yet. Waka's throat hurt. The screaming had severely damaged his vocal chords. At the time, he did not know he wouldn't be able to raise it ever again, at least, not past a quiet voice that bordered serenity. As for his eyes, even though he was told to open them, he refused. Only the word of the general stopped the soldiers from forcing them open. A slightly kinder tone left the man's lips.
"What are you?" he asked, "What do you see?"
The broken, golden haired boy answered. "I see the harsh truth of reality, and the atrocity of man." The response brought a smile to the general's face, but Waka was not done speaking. "And my eyes will never open again, lest the madness of the world take me, and condemn my soul to darkest torments."
After a moment of deliberation, the general ordered his men to help Waka into one of the guest rooms, and to treat any injuries. Waka was beaten, and broken, but resisted just long enough to ask what was to be done with him. The lord answered: He would be the new Soothsayer and Priest of the lord's family. With his fate known, Waka let himself be moved. His life of servitude began. It turned out that the lord was much kinder than their first meeting had let on. Waka never truly forgave him for a forced life of subservience, but he was grateful, and blessed the soul of his teacher for the luck he had been given. Waka was given clothes to rival even the richest nobles, and an elegant katana. His flute, which had been outside for a day, was brought to him with no damage and as good as new. He became what he was told: One who soothed spirits and brought blessed luck upon his lord when asked. He gained the trust of the man over the years of war, even going so far as to being invited into the war room when strategies were decided. His lord, a man by the name of Shojiro, was deeply spiritual, and saw Waka's word akin to divine law. If the boy made a claim that disaster would come, then it was undoubted and the path would not be taken.
This pattern continued through the war, and Lord Shojiro, a man both hated and loved by Waka, won the land, only to die a year after his conquest to illness. His son, a boy around Waka's age and a good friend, was like his father. Spiritual, he took Waka's counsel on many decisions. It was also under his wandering leadership that Waka became known as the prodigy of the Spiritual Envoy. He knew of Waka's great connection to spirits, and deemed it so strong that he needed a stronger name. It was with this Waka's name spread across the country as The Celestial Envoy. And under the tutelage of his new Lord and friend, Waka also learned the way of the sword and hand. His skills were brought to the level they should be. Enough for self defense, and little more.
As the two grew older, and the lands remained calm, the boy who was Waka's friend, Lord Miro, finally allowed Waka to leave the palace. The Envoy was given his own home by the sea, and received a regular stipend, despite not actually being employed by the house any longer. Despite his protests, Miro would have none of it, and insisted. Waka gave in and agreed to go to his new home, a home he would not live to see. A day's journey away from his new home, at the golden day break near the cliffs of the sea, Waka stopped his carriage and stepped out of it. Later accounts had the guards saying he ignored them, as if guided by the gods. Indeed, the time of day at which Waka died and the way that it happened was divinely coincidental. It is said, according to the accounts of the guards on hand, that he walked up a golden stairway into the heavens, disappearing in a blinding light. In truth, he had walked up and off a cliff, unaware of his own actions, and dying as he hit the sea below. In his last months in the human world, the town of the Lord Miro had gotten a new resident, one many could not see. Waka, a man who had died had returned, even in death. The spiritually aware could see him. His title as The Celestial Envoy was cemented in the town's history, and even recent stories say that some, if they're lucky, can see a man in ornate clothing watching them with a kind face through eyes that never open. When he felt it was time, Waka moved on to the realm of the dead of his own volition.
Moving on from the Human World, Waka's time in the Rukongai can only be described as incredibly brief. Many live their whole lives in the Rukongai, dreaming to get into the Gotei Thirteen. Waka accomplished this goal in a matter of months. Among the many souls that inhabited the countless districts of the Rukongai, his reiatsu was incredibly noticeable, and saved him from many a fight. It was an extremely powerful, choking force that seemed much too high for a normal soul. Not to mention his ornate clothing made him easy to find, as many thought the child of a noble was causing problems when they heard of a finely dressed man harming people with a suffocating and oppressive energy.
Patrolling Shinigami had little trouble finding the trouble making Waka. When the men with swords approached him, he asked them not to seem so hostile, not to hurt him. His voice was still soft. It had been in life, so he had expected it to be so in death, but he was not used to the power he had in death that he did not possess in life, the crippling force people called reiatsu. Unfortunately, for both Waka and the two Shinigami that had found him, they did not lower their weapons or lighten their threatening. Fearing for his life, his reiatsu flared naturally and brought both of them to the floor, taking them both into unconsciousness as the pressure continued to flood their bodies. Thinking he had killed them, Waka fled. This pattern repeated several times, and he began to garner a new nickname for himself. The people called him "The Seer of Sins." Although it made little sense to Waka, who heard the nickname of course, he later learned that the Shinigami who went to face him were often disliked members of the Gotei, most of whom originated from the Eleventh Division.
His reign as "The Seer of Sins" ended when a Third Seat was dispatched to take care of the trouble. When first confronted, Waka instinctively released his reiatsu, weighing down on the man, rendering movement hard. But the Third Seat was smarter than the others, and assured him he wouldn't hurt Waka. Hearing this, Waka's pressure dropped, and he followed the Third Seat into questioning. Although threats of execution and lifelong imprisonment were brought up, it was agreed that Waka would be better off as an enlisted soldier. Once placed inside Shino Academy, it became apparent that his strengths lied in his speed and the seemingly boundless amount of reiryoku and reiatsu he had. Due to this, he was trained extensively in his refinement and control of his own reiatsu, and consequently became adept in Kido, easily performing Kido that were difficult for most new soldiers. His speed training was two part however, and he trained with his tall and unusual geta on and off, being clocked as faster with them off. And while he had Zanjutsu lessons, even his Hakuda took precedence over that, learning and perfecting feints and strong shoves to put distance between himself and his foe to put him in the distance to turn it into a Kido war.
When he finally graduated, Waka was prone to Division hopping. He didn't stay in one Division for too long, and always avoided the Eleventh. Despite his initial potential, Waka did not aspire nor climb positions quickly. He seemed content to be placed where people wanted him like a cloud. But he was working and training. Always quite hard, and usually alone, he was trying his best. Eventually, between seniority and age, Waka found himself in the upper seats. He was a Third Seat, under one of the female Captains of the Gotei Thirteen. Despite his position, his personality had not changed. He was still soft spoken, polite and formal, and as always never aspiring for a higher position. But his training had been paying off. He was able to bring his reiatsu down to quite measly levels and he could even manipulate multiple Kido simultaneously. Not to mention he had only been growing faster. This slowly created a schism in what people believed about Waka. Older members, such as his Captain, would sometimes let it slip they believed he could take on a lieutenant if he wanted. Others, the people newer than himself, often wondered how he made it as far as he had. They whispered of his weakness and how he was unfit for his position. The problem with these newer people was an old one though: they never felt him release his reiatsu. Like his formality, Waka had made it a habit to make it weak so he wouldn't hurt people on accident. It was apparently too weak for many's tastes though.
As the years went by, the schism grew greater. More new members steadily came in as old ones retired, died, or were dismissed. As a Lieutenant, Waka had learned to increase the pressure he exerted just a bit so there were less people who wanted to fight him, but the numbers still increased. When his Captain, the woman who had been his Captain since he was a Third Seat, decided she wanted to retire, she suggested Waka take his place. When other Division members heard about this, there was some back lash, which she ignored. He received the necessary approval, and became the new Captain of the Seventh Division. Jokes and tales spread of an easy Captain spot to any who wanted to try it. As a Captain, Waka keeps his reiatsu very low, barely higher than that of a Lieutenants. Despite having proven himself of at least holding the title of Captain in the work he has done for his Division, he became known as "The Gotei's Weakest." In truth, Waka believed they were right. He felt he was likely the weakest Captain of the Gotei Thirteen, and there was little doubt about it. He felt any of the Lieutenants could beat him in a fight, or so he says.
While he does perpetuate he is the weakest, there are doubts it's actually true. He is a Captain after all, so how weak could he be? Many of his subordinates have seen him win fights against challengers for his position under the barbaric fight to the death, all of which Waka has not killed. Some wonder if he is the Gotei's Weakest, how weak are the people he fights? His incredibly underwhelming presence as a Captain raise many questions inside and outside of his Division, and only one group has ever seen him open his eyes, which they say "are the seals of the true strength of the Weakest." Zanpakutō Name:
Meichou [Bird With A Beautiful Song] Zanpakutō Type:
Sealed Zanpakutō:
Waka's sealed zanpakuto takes the shape of the flute he once held so dear in life. Simple in color and design, the brown flute is close to a foot long and looks no different from any other flute. However, most people are wary of his Katana, as zanpakuto are usually weapons, and as such Waka apologizes to his zanpakuto when he must use it, which he greatly prefers not to, even using his sword over his zanpakuto. Zanpakutō Spirit:
Meichou is a rather small spirit. As per its name, Meichou is a tiny songbird with a beautiful, alluring song. Only a few inches tall and as black as the night, many would not notice the spirit inside the Inner World, for it is very easy to miss. This has not stopped Waka, and he stays on good terms with his zanpakuto spirit, for he loves listening to her song. Shikai Incantation:
"Come, With Beauty on the Wind, Meichou." Release Appearance:
Once released, the harmless looking flute becomes rather dangerous. Although part of it remains as a hilt, a blade formed of reishi is emitted from the zanpakuto, turning the musical instrument into a double edged sword roughly forty inches in length. The only downside, if one had to pick, is that, despite the blade being made of reishi, Waka is unable to adjust its length any at all. However, even with this flaw, he sees the thought that counts, and it's usually enough to make some foes wary early in fights.
Description: Meichou is, at first glance, a very run of the mill Kido zanpakuto. Using mostly medium to long range attacks, even after multiple exposures, its true design may remain unnoticed. In truth, Meichou is what Waka calls an "enchantment" zanpakuto, using an ability that applies a mark, allowing other abilities to provide harder to dodge or improved versions. This allows some versatility, as well as flowing combinations from Waka while making his zanpakuto hard to predict.
Abilities:
Kakyoku [Melody] "The melody begins softly, almost unheard." Creating a small sphere no larger than a baseball, Waka fires it from his finger tips or the tip of his zanpakuto. Extremely fast, this technique provides very little damage, creating little more than a few scuff marks and a cloud of smoke. While some foes may believe the attack is a "false attack" designed to force them to avoid damage while perhaps even looking like another technique, their guess would be slightly off. The real power of this technique comes from the mark it lays upon the object it comes in contact with. The mark lasts for two posts, and modifies Waka's other techniques if the opponent is marked, making them harder to dodge and sometimes stronger. Additionally, Waka may also, forgoing the usual effects brought about by the mark, use it to launch techniques from the mark. Unfortunately for foes, the mark is impossible to destroy, although easy to notice with some attention to detail. This technique has a range of ten meters and the mark is two inches across. It should also be noted that the mark is consumed upon the next technique used by Waka within the proper time period. Aikoku [Lamentations] "You're not sure why, but the song is so sad." Waka creates a solitary bird atop his zanpakuto, in the palm of his hand, or at the location of the mark. Once created, it launches at the foe and moves quickly in their direction. Because the bird is not explosive, it relies solely on penetrating power, dealing moderate damage in a relatively small area. Consequently, the bird is only dangerous when directed at vitals and can be a hindrance when aimed at the limbs. If the opponent is marked, Aikoku will home after the opponent, chasing them down with excellent homing power. Aigou [Wailing] "A ghost cries in the dead of night." Waka inhales deeply and then lets it all out in a powerful cry from his mouth or the location of a mark.Traveling in a five meter cone, being no wider than two meters at the farthest end, the wail generates lacerating vibrations inside of itself, able to leave gashes in concrete. Against a marked target, the damage is even more intense, increasing by two fold. Hishou [Flight] "On wings of hope and sorrow." Generating seven birds around himself or a mark, Waka launches them at the foe. Each bird has a small amount of penetration power and on its own is not much of a threat, able to cause mild lacerations or shallow puncture wounds but little else. However, against a marked target, these birds become much stronger, not only gaining excellent homing capability but also increasing their penetration power and they explode on impact, making them very weak without the mark but making them a true danger with it. Sobieru [Soar] "On wings of Death." The only technique that cannot be shot from one of his marks, Waka creates wings out of his golden reiryoku and takes to the skies, lifting himself up off the ground and rising swiftly into the air. Pointing his finger or his zanpakuto at his foe, a small, very dense, explosive sphere is formed at the tip. Once fully formed, his wings break apart, reforming as smaller versions on the orb before being launched at the foe. Upon contact with an object, the sphere expands into a three meter blast zone. If the blast makes contact with a marked target, the mark is used as a target, the blast condenses and fires from its current location towards the marked target, aiming to hit the marked target twice with a second blast. Bankai Name:
Uta no Sakenomi [Song Drinker] Bankai Incantation:
"Revel in lament, Uta no Sakenomi" Release Appearance:
Uta no Sakenomi has no actual release appearance. This is because once activated, the zanpakuto breaks down into a handful of reishi, drunken by Waka and taking it into his body. The surge of energy caused by the release is often enough to send his hat flying off of his head. However, despite the lack of a zanpakuto, he is far from useless, as the way the abilities work make up for the loss of a weapon.
Description:
Waka's zanpakuto remains what he calls an "enchantment" type zanpakuto. However, Uta no Sakenomi differs in that instead of requiring a mark like it's Shikai, it's abilities simply function differently. Still, the applicable combinations are best to be wary of, especially given the power trade of a weapon for more fire power in this zanpakuto.
Abilities:
Tsumi [Sin] "All men are guilty." With a quick motion of his finger, Waka creates a lashing wire from his finger tip out for several meters, no greater than five. This technique is particularly useful because it is hard to dodge if one isn't looking for it. Between the speed and the thinness of the spiritual wire, Tsumi can go by almost unnoticed. The major give aways are the gleam of light along the wire and the swishing sound as it moves through the air. However, most opponents learn to dodge this attack by simply watching Waka's finger, and moving when it moves. Still, the attack is effective, as it can cause anywhere between shallow to deep lacerations in a foe, and heavy bleeding after only a few hits, making it extremely dangerous. It's also his main form of defense and discouragement against opponents when in Bankai. It should be noted that another major tell for this technique is the opening of his left eye. Mune [Principle] "Beaten and broken, I will stand." A reactive shield, this is actually one of his most unpredictable moves simply due to the way it works. Within a three meter range, Waka may create a box or pillar, with the pillar being no more than two meters wide and three meters tall. Anything within these dimensions is fair game to the technique. Most often used on the ranged attacks of an opponent, the pillar encases the attack, absorbs it, and then returns it back at the foe at twice the power. However, when used on a melee attack, the shield explodes towards the attacker, the explosive power of the shield equivalent to twice the force of the blow it blocked. Additionally, because the pillar may be set up inside an area, this means Waka can even trap opponents inside of it, forcing them to hurt themselves to break free or protect himself from all sides at once, or even cause an attack of his own to "ricochet" at the foe at twice the power. Perhaps the only saving grace is the slight delay between receiving the attack and returning it, just enough time to move out of the way. Also, despite the pillar's walls boasting quite a bit of strength, and even working if they are broken, the box fades after taking one hit, so surrounding hits or multiple projectiles are a clear weakness. A good tell for this technique is to watch to see if Waka opens his right eye. Chiri no Mukeru [Turn to dust] "I am a good man. And today, I go to war." Waka opens both of his eyes, glaring at the opponent as his pressure flares and then immediately drops to near nothingness. A sphere the size of a marble is formed at the tip of his finger and let loose at the foe. Although many of his attacks, both in Shikai and Bankai, move at high speed, this is his fastest flying technique. Should a foe be struck by the marble sized pellet, the power of the technique is unleashed, all of Waka's reiatsu crushing and grinding against the foe, using the point of contact as the pressure's focal point. The sheer power of this technique is extremely high, and depending on where the bead strikes can drastically change how lethal the technique is, as Waka's reiatsu tries to press and compact the focal point into submission before escaping back to him. It should be noted that, if this misses its intended target, it can still cause serious damage to the environment, but returns much faster when not compounding upon an animate being. However, a living person or otherwise, Waka is still left in a dangerous place for a brief time while his reiatsu returns to him. Hadō:
As proficient as he is, Waka knows and has total mastery over, every Hado. Bakudō:
As proficient as he is, Waka knows and has total mastery over, every Bakudo Other:
The Kido Legend: Waka's ability with Kido is far above sublime and exceptional. Able to control five Kido simultaneously, his skill in a realm of its own. The only problem he has with his Kido at such a high level is that, at five, he can't use them at full power, but at three he can, and at one he can "overload" the Kido to make it stronger than normal. He can improve the power to such a degree, he often purposefully weakens his own Kido just to make sure he doesn't hurt others too badly. Ambidextrous: Between playing his flute and wielding two weapons at once, Waka has achieved the ability to b ambidextrous. However, as a natural lefty, his right hand is much weaker than his dominant left, and the reason he keeps the rope attached to his scabbard is strictly so he can perform a reversed draw on it. Excessive Reiatsu: His reiatsu started his time as a soldier of a Gotei because it was in a league of its own. While it has leveled out and did not continue to rise as greatly as it had when he was just a new soul, to say it isn't too much would be close to false. Suffocating and powerful, if he can catch someone with a flare of it by surprise, there is a chance he can throw them immediately to their knees. However, he often keeps it incredibly low and tries to show no real potential with the gift he's given. The Gotei's Weakest?: Encouraging the name of "The Gotei's Weakest" himself, many people believe that Waka is indeed helplessly weak. How he ever managed to rank up to a Captain is beyond most people. Further perpetuating the belief, aside from his own insistence, is the level at which he keeps his reiatsu at all times out of habit, which is just barely stronger than most, if not all, Lieutenants. However, whether this is a ploy or not is often debated, as his real strength shines through both when he's in his Bankai and using Kido, leading more senior members to question the real aptitude of The Gotei's Weakest. "I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.": When Waka opens his eyes, or even just one of them, it's a good idea to watch out. Only doing so inside of his Bankai or against a truly malicious soul, it's a sure sign he just outright dislikes you, even if it doesn't sound that way. In short, the fight is about to become extremely serious, and the man wants you dead.
