Jerry had come home from his private mission with a distant look on his face. He had showered methodically and robotically, ignoring Roar's any attempt to talk to him. He didn't feel like talking to anyone.
Harrison had nearly... he was as good as... and it had been his fault.
Finally, he wobbled to sit in the corner of his room, his back to the wall, chin on his knees and one hand gripping the switch to his bedside lamp.
With a deep breath, he switched it off.
Almost immediately he switched it on again.
His face was placid, barely bottled misery.
He switched it off.
He switched it on again.
This continued for some time.

Candace was feeling pretty damn good. She was humming cheerfully as she wandered back to the dorms. No, she wasn't drunk. Yes, she was fairly tipsy but she wasn't drunk. Candace was very happy right now, she was in a very good mood. She just wanted to...go...kiss someone she was so happy right now!
Oh! Ohohoh! There was someone she could go kiiiiss~!
Turning on her heel the young woman squealed with delight and hurried down the hall, nearly passing Jerry's door before backing up to stop in front of it. She knocked on the door a few times. "Jeeeeerryyyyyy~. Baaaaaaby. Hoooooney. Sweetheart. Lovey bear?" Candace purred and leaned against the wall beside his door. "Are you hoooome~? I want to see my Jerrbear."

Hey. Hey. Mush for brains. I think your girlfriend's at the door.
Dimly Jerry's expression twisted into one even more miserable. No... no no no he didn't want to have to explain to her, too... just pretend he wasn't home. Carry on. Eyes on the wall.
There was no vocal answer, but the continuing methodical flickering of a light turning on and off beamed out from under the crack of his door.

No answer. But she did hear something flicking through the door so he just had to be in there. Candace looked down at the floor. "Jerrbear?" She asked again, knocking on his door again as she sank down against the wall. Ohhhh she saw light! Off and on. Off and on. What the hell was he doing in there?
"Jeeeerrrrryyyyy. Pretty please let me in?" Candace got up on her knees and tried the door, pushing it open if it was left unlocked.

The door was unlocked, and Jerry made no move to answer it, nor did he look up to greet her. The light flicked off for another few moments before popping back on again a few more times before he even seemed to register she had entered.
The light stayed on, but he didn't move.
Candace... how... how was he supposed to explain...

Candace watched as Jerry turned the light on and off a few more times, looking very curious. What was this? Oh...hadn't he freaked out when they were in the dark during that mission? Was he scared of the dark? Thaaaaat was fine everyone had a silly fear. "Hey, baby." Candace crooned, crawling into the room and closing the door behind her before crawling to Jerry's side. "Whatcha doin'? You're gonna break the lights if you do that."
Candace lowered to lay across Jerry's lap with a happy sigh, rolling onto her back and smiling up at him. She reached up with a hand to trail her finger along his jawline. "So quiet~. Usually you at least say hello." Something was up! Her Jerry darling was being weird! Not that that was terribly unusual but Candace was in a very good mood right now, and being in that good mood she decided to take it upon herself to cheer him up.

"C-candace..." He finally found his voice, mind still whirling as her flop broke him from whatever distant place he had gone to sort out his troubles. "Th-there was a mission... Ha-harrison..." He flinched, hesitating as he suddenly blinked and stared down at her in baffled shock, "Is... have... you been *drinking*?"

There we go! Speaking again! She looked as pleased as a cheshire cat until he started mumbling about a mission and Harrison. Huh? What was he talking about now? What happened to Harrison? She blinked, moving to sit up on his lap with her arms draped over his shoulders. "What about Harrison? You went on a mission? Really? What did you do?" Candace tilted her head.
Oh, now he was asking her about...drinking? Well, she needed to drink to survi--oh! Oh! Candace suddenly giggled and held a hand up with her thumb and index finger parted as if to show just how much she had drank. "A teeeeeeeeeny tiny bit. Like twoooo glasses. Bourbon. Good stuff! Used t'have it all the time back home." She grinned, pointing down at her legs. "I went to see Dr. H about my legs, because they've been hurtin' real bad, an'e gave me a drink to ease the pain're somethin'." She paused a moment, shaking her head and swaying. ********. Was that an accent? That was definitely an accent. She pouted. Goddamnit!

He blinked at her, feeling his nostrils burn at the smell of her breath. For a moment he looked as though he was going to scold her, his hands suddenly clamping on her wrists before he spoke, "Do... do you know how to get more?" He sounded almost desperate.
She... she had been wounded? And... and Dr. H. had prescribed a remedy of bourbon...

Candace squeaked a bit as he grabbed her wrists, looking to each one with a raised brow. "Why, Mistah Collins. I didn't know you were intah this kinda thi--more?" Ehhhh...why did he sound weird? He really wanted bourbon? Huh. Well...ehhhhh. "I'unno. Wasn't even expectin' him to give me what he did..."
She suddenly leaned in without freeing her hands from his, brushing her lips against Jerry's. A full kiss didn't follow it just yet. "Ohhhh my sweet, sweet, perfect Jerry. You don't need any o' that stuff."

"I, I think I do... I really do," He managed, swallowing as he felt her lips dance across his... They still tasted of it, faint but still there, just enough. He could smell it, taste it, and she had had two full glasses, enough to *enjoy* it, that b***h.
Why, Mr. Collins, indeed... Roar snickered, if only to remind Jerry that he was suddenly becoming very interesting.
His face flushed as he cleared his throat, "It... it's been a long several days... ahahahaa..."

At his insistence of needing it Candace pouted and shook her head. "Nuh uh. Not you. Def'nit'ly not you." She gave him a small kiss then, rubbing noses with the man after and then putting her head on his shoulder. She was blissfully unaware of his less than flattering thoughts at that moment, and really the only thoughts going through her own mind were Atropos' occasional comments and how warm and snuggly Jerry felt. She just wanted to cling to him for the rest of the night. Could she? Pretty please?
When he mentioned it'd been rough lately she pouted and leaned back. "You don' need whiskey for that, Jerr-bear." She said before leaning in to press a heavy kiss against his lips. Kisses made everything better, right? That's what her brain said! And her brain was never wrong!

He didn't need whiskey. Right. He just... needed to calm down. She was soft and warm but reeked of it, and his head swam.
How was he supposed to just.... *explain* what happened? He could he just...
He gave a tight whine, turning his head away to wearily rub his eyes under his glasses, "I once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me..." His voice was trembling as he sang under his breath. Just... find his center. Remember his therapy.

Jerry whined and Candace paused, looking mildly worried. Wait! Was...was she bothering him? She sat back on his lap and dropped her hands onto her own lap, lips pouting pathetically as she tilted her head and listened quietly as he began to sing. "Jerry..?" She reached out to brush the back of her fingers along the underside of his chin. "Do you...want me to leave?" She didn't want to leave. She wanted to stay! She wanted to cuddle up against Jerry and feel warm and secure and safe in his arms. Candace wanted to be with Jerry.
She was the worst, huh? He deserved so much better than her but she refused to give him up. Candace wanted to be selfish.
"What song is that? Can I hear more?" Maybe if she asked him to keep singing for her he wouldn't make her leave! Candace turned around so her back was against the man's chest, snuggling up close with her head tilted back against his shoulder. She guided his arms over her shoulders and held them against her chest, making herself quite comfortable where she was. She was still warm from the bourbon and...stuff, but Jerry brought a better kind of comfort than could be brought on by...things...

Jerry's breath hitched in his throat as he shifted his arms around her, hugging her tightly, trying to concentrate on the smell of her shampoo rather than what lingered on her breath. "C-candace... I... I... I did... I m-made a mistake and... I did a horrible thing..." He managed quietly.
