Yvette tended to forget she had a backyard.
It was such a small space, and it really wasn't maintained very well. There were a couple small patches of grass, but otherwise the whole thing was naked dirt. The fencing that kept that small patch of dirt closed off from the world had a plank that was broken towards the bottom. Perfect for animals to get into their yard, but children were still too big to fit.
Mommy had asked Daddy to fix that fence so many times, and Daddy seemed to refuse every single time she requested it. Eventually Mommy gave up and Daddy had won. It wasn't like there really was anything in the backyard that would attract the animals to stay if they came by.
The dark haired had still been a bit too frightened of the world outside, but as she was slowly building up her confidence, she found herself remembering about the backyard. It was outside, but it was still a part of the safety of her home. She might have been taking everything a bit slowly, but in Yvette's mind, she felt the need to ween herself from being inside.
She sat herself on the subtle step made of concrete by the door back into the house. She had a container of large plastic beads next to her and what seemed like fishing line and a needle. Carefully she began to thread a bead at a time onto the fishing line, obviously continuing work on whatever her most recent project was.
