The voiceless lion was such a curious sight to her. Not only was he living in this amazing land, but he was also unable to speak! She followed him silently for a while, wondering quietly how she might be able to learn more about him with his inability to give voice talk. The thoughts were interrupted by a gurgle from her stomach and she slowed her pace to grin sheepishly. “I got so caught up in the wonderful sights around here that I forgot I was out looking for a meal.” She quickened her pace a bit and looked over at the male, grinning. “Care for a little hunt?”

Nirav's head turned back, a broad smile splayed on his face as he nodded in return. He was always up for a hunt and with a friend, it was sure to be a better hunt. If she hunted, maybe she could teach him! She had to better at it then him. Everyone as better then him and that was a fact that he was happy to acknowledge. The younger lion had trouble actually killing for food and would rather just chase the intended prey around instead of actually bringing home food for his clan.

A grin of excitement spread across her face as he nodded in agreement. She was curious to see how good of a hunter this male was. He was a lion she knew nothing about, in a land she had never been to before. Perhaps he was from some pride of lions who were expert hunters, or had some amazing skills she had never before seen. Fanciful ideas filled her mind, making her even more excited. “Alright, let’s see if we can find some suitable prey then.”
It had not taken long before she spotted a small herd of antelope. They were far enough away from the trees that they would be forced to use other means of cover, but there was certainly no shortage of that around. Aside from the tall grasses there were a manner of rocks lying around that one could use as well. Talasi crouched behind one such rock, ears resting back against her head as she stared over it’s top, scanning the area around for the best route to take. “I think these will do just fine.” She whispered to the male, eyes set on the small antelope herd. Tala broke her gaze to look over at the mute lion. “Cover shouldn’t be a problem, plenty of that around. When we get closer we’ll see which might be the best one to go after.”

Of course she was right. Cover would be no problem for the pair to remain hidden from the nearby herd. Perhaps if the day went well, bringing home a kill would help ease the fact that he had been spending time with a stranger to not only his family but his clan as well. With a broad smile on his face, Nirav crouched down, his tail swaying behind him and his ears pressed against his skull. His body was a little awkward for him though since he had been growing quite a bit recently from his young cubhood into adolescence so it would be a challenge to try and hunt under such conditions.

Talasi smiled and turned to look back at the antelope, wondering once more how skilled a hunter the silent male was. She was still quite eager to find out, but the thought of a hunt excited her on her own. Her claws kneaded at the ground, crating little grooves in the dirt as she watched the prey ahead. “Alright, let’s get closer then.” She spoke to him, though her eyes stayed focused on the antelope ahead. “Quietly now,” She whispered, more to herself than the accompanying male, “We don’t want to startle them.”
Out from behind the rocks she slunk, body low to the ground and gaze fixated on her targets. With the abundance of cover at hand it was no problem for her to get within a reasonable distance of the antelope, and she came to a silent stop, looking over the herd for any sign of weakness. An older, ill-looking or young antelope would surely be an easy kill, however she quickly found her gaze looking for the biggest, strongest of the lot. If this male was a great hunter then they should go for a real challenge, although this was simply the excuse she told herself within her mind. Truthfully she wished to show off a bit. Talasi knew she was a hunter of at least passable skill, and if she could take down a real challenge of a meal then all the better to show off her own skills.

He was no true hunter. In fact, Nirav's skills at hunting were still developing. The awkward teen laid himself flat against the ground, watching the herd before him with an intense stare. With a quick nod, he scooted along the ground, keeping himself low and hidden in the grass around him. She at least knew what she was doing and perhaps that would make up for his inexperience. All the hoofed beasts in front of him began to make his head spin as his brain continued to think on how happy his mother would be seeing him bring home a kill and how jealous his brothers may get. No. Nirav shook his head, the stare reforming as he looked back to the herds. He had to stay focused. Now was not the time for daydreaming!

Just before she was going to move to some closer cover one of the antelope's head jerked up suddenly. Then another. Soon the herd was no longer grazing, and instead had started their retreat from some unseen danger. "Oh, no!" Tala broke cover and ran after them. Maybe they could still catch something. It might not be the biggest antelope, but even the oldest, most frail thing would be better than nothing. Sadly it was not to be, and Talasi had not even managed to get close enough to attempt to take one down. They were out of reach and she was out of breath. The female came to a slow halt, breathing heavily as she tried to figure out what had set them off.
Had he made a noise and not realized? Or maybe the silent male had. Whatever it was didn't matter now, the herd was gone, and she had had fun even if they had nothing to show for their efforts. Talasi looked back at the male and smiled. "Well, maybe we will have better luck next time."

Just as she had run, so had he. Though his awkward, adolescent legs could only carry him so fast after the lean lioness' body. With his mind only on catching something, anything to prove himself as a hunter. Sadly, luck had not been in their favor and two ended up with nothing in their paws to show for their effort. Slowing down his already sluggish pace to come standing beside his hunting partner.
It didn't take more than a look from the lioness and a simple 'better luck next time' or rather something along those lines to cause Nirav of the Kalyani family to turn his ears back. If his fur had allowed to show it his face would have been flushed from embarrassment or from her smile. He couldn't really figure out which of the two was causing his face to burn.

One bad hunt was bound to happen, and Talasi wouldn't let it get her down. She turned and trotted back towards Nirav, smiling at the male. "Next time we'll get us a big one, I'm sure. For now though," She paused, still a bit out of breath from the run. "I think a rest and some water might be in order. We deserve that much at least!"
Tala bounced forward, lightly nudging his shoulder with her head. "Come on, I'll race you there!" With that she bounded away from him, laughter trailing behind her.

Nirav found himself nodding almost nonstop as she spoke, scarcely even listening to the words with the pounding his ears. What the hell was wrong with him? What he did hear thought was rest and water, which both sounded like a good idea after that sudden sprint. Just as soon as he had sat himself down, she bounded up and pressed her head to his shoulder, causing the adolescent lion to fumble onto his feet just in time for her to declare her challenge. Before Nirav could even really react, she was off. Though he didn't quite mind as he chased after her back towards the rest of Sky Clan.
