Ok, so my teachers want me to submit this piece to the country of Belarus AND to some famousauthor that writes and reasearches different countries around the world. Since I was the only one in my school who knew anything about Belarus, they put me up on this tast. And they watched me do it.... IS IT REALLY THAT GOOD?

BELARUS

Until the 20th century Belarus belonged to several countries including Poland, Lithuania, Russia and the Polish-

Lithuanian Commonwealth. Later on from being ruled by the Soviet

Union, Belarus became a part of the USSR, and was renamed as

the Byelorussian SSR. In 1939 there were still parts of Belarus

that were controlled by Poland. The Byelorussian Soviet Socialist

Republic got rid of the polish that controlled that part of Belarus

as the result of the Soviet invasion of Poland. Most of Belarus was

in ruins during and after World War II. Belarus lost about one third

of it’s population and half of it’s economic resources. During the

post-war years Belarus was rebuilding it’s people and it’s

government. Also in 1945 Belorussian SSR became a member of

the United Nations as well as the Soviet Union and the Ukrainian

SSR. The parliament of the republic declared the sovereignty of

Belarus on July, 27, 1990 and during the dissolution of the Soviet

Union, Belarus declared independence on August, 25, 1991. Since

2000 Belarus and Russia signed a treaty for better and more

greater cooperation forming a Union State. More than 80% of the

Belarusian population were native Belarusians with a hand full of

Russians, Poles, and Ukrainians. Since a referendum in 1995, the

country has two official languages, Russian and Belarusian. The

constitution of Belarus dose not say that there is an official

religion for the country, but the most religion used is the Russian

Orthodox Christianity. The second most popular is Roman

Catholicism. Both are very different but they both allow Christmas

and Easter as national holidays. Belarus also has the highest

Human Development Index among members of the Commonwealth

of Independent States.

This is really good. Really really good. I didn't even know much about Belarus. You just helped me confirm more about her history. Thank you emotion_c8 .
