His father raised him until he was about 13 in human years before leaving. It was custom and Blaine continued his life as usual, but his childish and almost evil ways got him into trouble in his world. Around 16 years of age he toyed with an old lady for his amusement, the lady turning out to be a sort of witch who put a curse of him, trapping his soul in his body and not allowing it to age, rest, or change. As the years passed his body did not change and neither did his personality. He saw the curse as a gift, letting him stay in his fun times forever. But he soon learned that because of it he could also never have a companion for more than a decade or two before they grew old of his games and left. Around his hundredth year or so of living he ran into a demon who he became friends with. He learned of the demon's immortality and soon had an idea. The demon agreed to serve him in exchange for a bit of his soul. So every few years or so when the demon feels the need to taste the other again Blaine will submit to the butler's needs.
