An eerie gray fog rolled in, reflecting the luminous glow of the full moon; in the distance an owl wooed as it took flight from a tree to hunt for prey. A lone stallion stood amongst the swirling vapor, his bright yellow eyes shining; the night was perfect for an Asgina Kanehelvsgi or a ghost story, his forte. He knew many tales, each ranging from love story to teeth chattering horror; his most favorite of them all was depicted upon his coat. The legend of the s-gi-na (bad spirit) and his brother the Great Feline a-da-nv-do di-tli-hi (Spirit Warrior); it was the end he enjoyed the most, when the unexpected twist occurred. He always gave himself goose bumps in a metaphorical sense, of course.

Adonvdo Nudade was new to this land and only one other from his A-ni-la-s-da-lv (Tribe) had come with him to tell the haunting stories of their coats; the other Storytellers were amazed by the stories they wove, full of evil spirits and vengeful beings. Many who heard his creations would believe him to be just as twisted as the characters in his myths, but truth be told, Adonvdo was a friendly stallion who enjoyed going above and beyond when describing a ka-no-he-lv-s-gi (story).

His yellow eyes gazed around the haunting area, sending shivers down his spine, if only he would encounter some other being who would enjoy a good Asgina Kanehelvsgi. A noise caught the stallion’s attention and a wicked smile crossed his countenance, the Spirits of the Ancestors had heard his a-du-la-di (wish) and sending a listening ear his way.

Fog. How mysterious, calming, and yet slightly irritating it was. As philosophical and eager to learn as he was, he much preferred to know than to not know. The fog offered a sense of the unknown, and this aspect put some of his deeply hidden worries to rest as it allowed him to temporarily forget where or what or even who he was. None of it mattered in an area where no one could see, where all the senses were blinded and toyed with. A noise rattling in one space of the fog could have been imagined after all, just a trick of the mind and imagination. Or it could have been as real as the fog itself. If the fog itself was even real and also not just a figment from a long-forgotten dream.

It was easy to lose oneself in thought, fog or no fog though. As enjoyable as the moment had been where he had forgotten everything in the fog, it was just a mere moment after all. A forlorn sigh escaped him as he irritably stamped a hoof into the dirt below, causing some of it to rise and float briefly, seeming more like dust than actual dirt. The fog here didn’t cloud his vision too much. Maybe if it had been thicker, he would have been forgotten longer, but he could not forget completely. There was too much to forget.

Argyris stayed by the trees as he moved across the dirt through the growing fog, ears flicked back in his minor aggravation as he longed to forget all that he remembered. It would have been easier that way. He already had to begin anew in a new land as it was, why not start fresh without memories as well? If only that were possible.

His nostrils flared as he picked up the scent of another. Finally the wind was kind, unlike everything else. His ears flicked forward as his head rose as well to better investigate. Company could be useful at a time like this. At least then he could flood his mind with the thoughts and words of another instead of being left to his own devices.

Once the other stallion was in sight, he felt it appropriate to speak.

“How do you do, fine sir?” he spoke calmly, in his almost soothing and poetic sort of speaking, his tone and overall expression not giving any hints away as to what turmoil he always felt.

Adonvdo had his glowing yellow eyes locked on the direction that the soquili who possessed the listening ear was traveling from; soon the soquili emerged from the foliage and mist, almost like a character out of one of the storyteller’s haunted tales. He smiled at the stallion, who was dark in coloration but appeared to have a myriad of stars upon his coat. The Milky Way had found a form here on E-lo-hi (earth) and the stallion with the horns was the new home. “O-si-yo, hello, I am doing fine my U-na-li-I (friend), and you? How do you fare on this fog filled evening?”

The storycoat stallion watched the stallion from the corner of his citrine eyes, “Would you fancy hearing a story?” He did not care if it was abrupt; the Great Spirit had sent this starry stallion to him for a reason, to pass along the stories of the Asgina Kanehelvsgi.

Argyris had been about to say he would like to hear a story. He even started to nod, but halfway through the nod, he suddenly went still. Stiller than a statue that had been frozen for a thousand years.

His pupils dilated, but he was unable to move. Unable to speak. Unable to breathe. And then... he was able to do all these things, but he wasn’t the one doing them anymore.

His head jerked up and then to the side before he chomped his teeth at the air in a furious rage, making a horrendous shrieking sound in the next moment. It still wasn’t him behaving this way, but he couldn’t tell what was him and what wasn’t at the moment. He no longer existed as far as he was concern.

And he had no idea that the sounds were all in his head. He had still chomped the air but seemed to recover quickly as his pupils receded back to their natural sizes. A silken apology escaped his mouth as he rose back to his hooves before he excused himself. His head jerked in an unnatural way again, but he didn’t react.

Argyris still had no idea what was going on in the outside world either.
