 Buttercup could feel the sun begin to go down as she opened her eyes to greet the new day. She slowly began to stand to her feet and stretch her legs. Today was just like every other day, she was all alone and was venturing the vast lands all on her own with no one by her side. As she stretched images of the travelers she had seen on her way popped into her head. She could remember this one male and female pair laughing and smiling among each other. The minute she saw them she wished in her heart that she had someone like that. She could feel her heart almost cry out in pain, and she didn't have the slightest idea as to why. Though it seemed to happen every time she saw a couple together. "Why am I all alone," she whispered under her breathe as she finally stood tall and shook her mane in the slight breeze that had past by her head. "Maybe I'm meant to be alone ... for eternity," she thought aloud once again before beginning to look around her being. Slightly wondering if somewhere out there someone was waiting for her, just her. Though inside she knew that idea was impossible and just knocked it from her mind with a shake of her head.

 The sun was nearing the horizon, disappearing so that the moon could shine in all it's glory. Eros found this time of day to be most hypnotic. Twilight, when the sky was faded black to orange, faint signs of stars twinkling behind a mask of light. He awed at the sight, head craned back while he laid in the tall grass. It tickled his neck as it danced back and forth with the breeze. His wings were tucked close to his body so that he didn't stick out like a sore thumb in the grasslands. Although Eros wasn't large he wasn't exactly small either. In comparison to the rest of his body his wings seemed as though they would be better suited for a Clydesdale.
He enjoyed the light sounds of nature, not feeling all to rushed with his usual duties due to the fact that it was the coming of winter and love wasn't a priority for most this time of year. This was Eros' vacation time, so to speak. A break before the big spring time romances. However, even in this time he couldn't resist the yearning calls of lonesome soquili. Not that he could hear the maiden's whispers, Eros sensed her single status for a good distance away. An uneasy quivering in his stomach. With a dart of his eyes he glanced to and fro before spotting his target. A sorrowful mare in the distance. A heart that needed warming. He rose to his feet and began to trot over in a slow and cautious fashion. Surely he didn't wish to alarm her. "Excuse me, miss. Would you mind if I ask for your company?" he didn't want to go right out and say she looked sad. That would probably embarrass the poor lady.

"I probably should move ou..." Buttercup had begun to say to herself. Before her words were cut short as she heard the sound of anothers voice. At first she wasn't sure if she had really heard anything or if it was all imagined in her head. Though nonetheless at the sound she quickly jerked her head in the direction of the voice. Since just in case it was someone it would be rude not to answer back. The minute her head turned around she was amazed at what she saw. It was a .... Angeni?!
Never before had she seen one in person before, since she had only heard of them through different tales. Though this one was better than she could have ever dreamed, especially with the rose like markings on him. An his wings were just pure amazement in her eyes, and on a normal day just seeing wings like that would make her mouth drop. Though not today, since today it seemed like there was nothing on the planet that could make her get out of this depression she had fallen deep into. 'If only he could have come when I wasn't so depressed,' she thought in her mind quietly as she tried to muster up the tiny bit of happiness she had left inside her heart.
"Oh hello there!" Buttercup said trying her best to disguise the sadness and loneliness in her voice as she answered him back. "As for company .... I wouldn't mind at all, though I can't promise I will be that great of company," she said with a slight laugh. The minute she laughed her headphones slightly bounced down to the bottom of her neck, and lay there until they were called for once again.

Eros waited patiently for her response, not doubting for a moment that she would allow him to keep her company. She seemed to kind of a mare to brush him away, though he could be mistaken. It took a while for Eros to learn you can't judge a book by it's cover, and at times he often forgot this lesson. However, his judgement seemed to be spot on because the mare had managed to muster up some chipper greeting even though he could sense the sadness in her.
Her words left him slightly baffled. "Oh, I am sure you're just being modest, my dear. You appear to be quite good company to keep. What makes you think otherwise?" he spoke in a calming tone, eyes shining with happiness while his lips kept a soft smile, not wanting to over do it seeing as how being to happy in her moment of misery might make her feel awkward. He tried to be empathetic as much as possible. His eyes studied the strange contraption that slid down her neck, wondering what it was for. Perhaps something to keep her ears warm from the winter frost. Clever girl.

Upon hearing his gracious reply she attempted to make a half smile grow on her face. Never before had anyone ever thought she would make good company. Since if they had maybe a few of the stallions and mares she had met before on her travels, would have stuck around her longer and she wouldn't be so lonely. "You are very kind though i believe others would think otherwise," she said sweet as she could before continuing, "I believe I think this way due to how no one ever wants to stay around me for to long. It seems I am always by my lonesome in this big world, as silly as that may sound."
As soon as she finished those words she ducked her head a bit in embarrassment, realizing he probably didn't want to her about her troubles like this. Especially when she hadn't even given him a proper introduction of herself! "I apologize sincerely since you probably don't want to hear of my childish problems like this, and before I forget to say my name is Buttercup." she spoke this words with deep sadness beginning to seep through her voice more than she wished for it too. If only she could fake happiness now like all the other times. Though something about this new acquaintance made it harder and harder for her o conceal how she really felt right now.
