Roll a Five: The Fire Field: A series of thick rock pillars, all different sizes of height, reach towards the stadium ceiling from a pool of hot lava. While there is a fire-proof net far below to catch any pokemon that falls off the platforms, the rock pillars themselves are hot to the touch. They can cause burns if your pokemon stand still for a set period of time. The air around the field is very heavy from the extreme heat. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to FIRE type attacks. This field reduces ICE and WATER type attacks by 25 HP.

If there was anything to like about Zatao, it was the change it could bring. Mina smiled as she and her Ponyta, Anala, scaled the side of the volcano, the pair hoping for a glimpse of the warm lava that steadily flowed from it. When she had first come here, it would have been hard to believe that she would ever enjoy traveling and the dangers it brought, much less choose to purposely visit a volcano, and the same could have been said of Anala, too. But much had happened ever since she had first stepped foot on the boat that would take her to this region, and now, she stood near a pool of lava, feeling the warm air brush against her face and cause the ends of her hair to sway lightly.
Not wanting to limit the view to just the two of them alone, she released her two other Pokémon to enjoy the sights, as well.
When Trist came out, he was greeted with a scene he hadn't expected to see. Pillars of rock projected from the lava, and waves of heat radiated from their proximity to it. Turning his head curiously, he turned towards Mina, as if expecting a reason for their being here as anything but "just because," as all their other travels had been.

Shina watched as Tenka rode the thermals generated by the lava. He swooped and soared in gleeful abandon. She hadn't thought he would like this field, but the flying squirrel seemed to revel in the ease the warm air lent to his flight. Suddenly, Tenka seemed to spot something. "Molga!"

Spotting something in the breeze, Mina looked up just in time to see a familiar Emolga cry out. She squinted her eyes, trying to better see the Pokémon, but the waves of heat shook the air in front of her and Tenka was too far away for her to make out just yet.
It was different for Trist, however. With his longer neck and sharper eyes, he recognized Tenka immediately as the Emolga from the caravan they had traveled with a while ago, and he bellowed a, "Girafarig!" in welcome.
((Putting the encounter after the caravan so it would better match up with Mina not recognizing Shina at first / seeing Tenka for the first time during the trip, but if you'd prefer otherwise, just lemme know. ouo Anything works for me.))

Shina unknowingly mimicked the squinting action, also coming to the same inconclusive result. "Hello the trainer?" Shina called uncertainly, picking her way closer to the other. "Tenka!" Hearing his name, Tenka promptly swooped back, alighting neatly on Shina's upraised arm and scurrying up to take his place on her shoulder.
Finally making her way a good distance closer to the trainer, Shina smiled. "Mina, how good to see you! Fancy a battle?" Hearing the word "battle," Tenka immediately launched from Shina's shoulder and started gaining height over the rocky pillars.
((Perfectly all right with placing this battle somewhere in the vague and nebulous "later." Will adjust Tenka's behavior, at least towards Shina, accordingly.))

"Shina?" Mina called upon hearing the voice. By then, the trainer had come close enough for her to visible make out, and she smiled widely. "Shina, it is you!" she said warmly, then, "I'd love to! Trist here needs some more work."
She laughed when the mentioned Pokémon snorted at her, then patted his back to tell him good-naturedly that it was too late now -- he was in.
"Let's go! Trist, try Psybeam!"
Trist, after glancing at his jealous companion, Rohe, trotted forward into the field. He wondered whether the pillars would hold his weight, or even fit him, but thankfully, he didn't need to test the theory now.
With a soft bellow, he opened his mouth as a beam of psychic energy burst forth.

Tenka bobbled drunkenly at the attack hit, confusing him. "Tenka! Shake it off and try dropping his defense with Iron Tail!" Tenka swooped down, his tail stiffening and taking on a metallic sheen.

"You can dodge it, Trist!" Mina called encouragingly. "Follow it up with Shadow Ball!"
The psybeam appeared to have worked, if the Emolga unintentionally hitting itself was anything to go by. Sticking to the edge but still moving to a safer distance along the lip of the pool, Trist let loose a Shadow Ball.

Shina winced. The Iron Tail was meant to hit the opponent, not the back of Tenka's head. "Shake it off, Tenka! Try again!"
Still seeing stars, Tenka was in no shape to dodge the Shadow ball. Tenka rolled with the hit, using the thermals to stay aloft. Swooping towards Trist, Tenka tried another Iron Tail.

Mina cringed, not for her own Pokémon's sake but for Shina's. She didn't think being hit with your own ironized tail was a painless experience.
Still, this was no time to be sympathizing with the Emolga, especially since he was the opponent they were intending to beat. "Switch back to Psybeam!" she said, her voice carrying across to the still-nearby Trist.
Trist reared lightly when Tenka came close again, his flattened ears expressing the nervousness he felt. But that didn't mean he would run away.
Still staying distanced from the pillars, he aimed a Psybeam at the flying Emolga.

Shina winced as Tenka first smacked himself in the back of the head with his tail, then flew straight into the Psybeam attack. She had the sinking feeling she was going to lose this battle. "Tenka, let's try again! Third time's the charm!" Tenka, ears ringing from the two previous times he had clouted himself with his tail, dove for Trist.

Mina winced once again when Tenka made a repeat show of himself. Despite the fact that he was her opponent now, she really did hope he would snap out of it soon. And, well... she supposed the psychic attacks weren't helping.
"All right, Trist; use Shadow Ball!"
After the third wave of self-inflicted Iron Tail... he didn't think he was too afraid of the Emolga anymore. Although he still kept himself some distance away from the pillars in the lava, he didn't hesitate when he aimed another Shadow Ball at the flying Pokémon.
