Geography

Each team member is handed a map of their territory. On the map are three colors of dots.
Red, yellow, and black. The red dot is the location of the team’s base. The yellow dot is the location of a bag containing the items the team needs to guard from the other teams. The black dot represents the tower which a team must present its collected object to. The territories are separated by a forked river. The entire playing field is surrounded by a very tall stone wall.

Each territory has a base. In the bases are sleeping quarters, a meeting room, a ‘jail’, and a hospital room with a doctor on standby. The bases are hidden well, so it is advised to keep this location as secret as possible.

Team two’s base
is at the back wall of their territory. A false wall was built in front of the real one, making their base look like just another part of the wall. There is a large tree that appears to be growing against the wall. This tree serves as the entrance. There is a hole through the tree, protected by a hidden door.

Map of the playing field:

Someone want to make me a prettier map?

Alastair watched as the creature turned to look at him from where it waded in the pool of water and his amethyst eyes curiously examined the limbs it had been cleaning. This species had always been one that fascinated him. It was interesting how they carried on after death in this form that was still corporeal but also so easily...disconnected like some kind of bizarre children's toy. They could pop off their limbs and reattach them as though it were nothing! He could taste faint waves of anxiety rolling off of its body and grinned widely at its obvious discomfort about him having appeared from the woods while it was in such a vulnerable state. He was pleased that it bowed to him so respectfully. He truly had no right to receive special treatment or be addressed so honorably, but it appealed to his vanity a great deal and he always enjoyed such flattery. Still he didn't think the title was necessary for their current discussion. " Alastair or Khan will do just fine..." he stated, standing back up to his feet and moving away from the water's edge.

The rakshasa shrugged his shoulders lightly at the apologies gushing forth from the other's mouth and he quietly murmured, " Quite alright, Muir....please do avoid this area, though. Your shroud is large and Khan knows what happens to living things when they are enveloped in it for too long. It would be a shame for our team to die due to your carelessness." This man did not seem as though he had the sole intention of harming them though and since Alastair could help them avoid any infected water this lifeless one's presence would not be too horrible. Maybe he could even convince this creature to keep an eye out for intruders? As Muir climbed up out of the water, he began to sense another presence approaching and this one was all abuzz with life energy flowing out of it. Khan turned away from this new being he had discovered and looked behind him to see who it was that had arrived, but he couldn't see anyone right away...then he saw them peek out from behind a tree.

" Zaine!" he exclaimed, drifting over to his teammate and gently tugging the tiefling away from his hiding spot. " Thank goodness you're alright. Khan would have been disappointed if you had been killed while he was away..." He smiled at the man and looked back over towards the bloody-bones to say, " This is Zaine. He seems a bit scared right now, but Khan promises that he won't hurt you. Khan will make sure his team knows to not harm you."

Alastair sighed and looked back in the direction that they had come from to reach this pool of water. They should probably get back on track with their original plan and make their way to the base now so that when others arrived they would be able to find out what was happening. He turned to face his fellow dead and politely said, " It was pleasant making your acquaintance. Zaine and Khan have to be going now, though. We must return to the base. Farewell, good sir." The rakshasa motioned for his comrade to follow him and began to walk away from the skeletal figure. He would have to return at one point or another to get closer to the bloody-bones and perhaps make an arrangement for its help throughout the games. They eventually arrived back at the giant tree which their base was hidden within and Khan pointed upwards to silently gesture towards the entrance before phasing out of sight once more. He lazily moved up in his invisible mass and only reformed into his human shape once he was in front of the secret door. The rakshasa looked down and called, " Come along, Zaine. You won't have to be nervous in here. Safe."

He moved the piece of bark that was hanging over the hole in the tree and slipped inside to begin looking around the base for others. " Hellooo?" Al yelled softly, frowning when no one responded immediately. He found his way into a resting area of the base filled with couches and chairs with a soft throw rug draped across the floor. He smiled at the sight of it and plopped down on the ground to lay upon its soft surface...totally ignoring the comfortable furniture. " ZAINE! No one's here but you and Khan." he groaned, closing his purple eyes as he smiled into the fluffy carpet.

User ImageIt appeared to Zaine that hiding from Khan was pretty much impossible. Also, that Khan liked to drag people along at his pace and without much thought of what the person being pulled feelings were. It was unpleasant for Zaine to say the least, strangers in his town usually beat him for being what and who he was and Khan was just pulling him toward new people like it was nothing. As he was pulled closer to the strange decomposing being that was recomposing itself, an air of death surrounded the being and grew thicker as they drew closer. He hadn't noticed the feeling before but, being this close to the strange person made Zaine feel almost sick. "P-Pleasur-" he began to say only to heave slightly as the small breakfast he had eaten that morning was trying to fight its way outside.

Clasping his hand over his mouth Zaine wrenched himself from Khan's grip and took several steps back. "S-Sorry, I suddenly d-don't feel very good," the coward explained his voice strangely toned as he held back what tried to make its way out. Watching Khan it appeared that he was on friendly terms with the being and that he knew Zaine wasn't much for attacking it either. 'I barely feel good approaching it let alone attacking it,' he thought adjusting the shoulder strap of his sword-quiver to a more comfortable position.

Khan's conversation only lasted a few more seconds before he bid his farewells and urged Zaine to follow him back to the base. Watching Khan blink out of existence for a second it took Zaine awhile to realize he had risen upward and was motioning for him. Listening to the urgings of the ghost man Zaine climbed the tree quickly before slipping inside quickly after Khan. It was extremely quiet inside, only the sound of Khan and his own footsteps resounded within. 'I guess I wasn't the only one that wanted to go outside and have a look around,' he pondered checking various areas of the hidden base yet only seeing Khan laying about on the floor in the rest area.

Not entirely following suit Zaine removed the sword-quiver from his back and set it beside the chair he intended to sit in. "I-It appears that way," he replied nervously, even if he was with the familiar being the silence throughout the base was quite disturbing to Zaine. It had once been his friend, silence, it provided him shelter from being yelled at hatefully and gave him solace in the fact that it was the one thing that couldn't hate him. "I-I wonder where everyone is," he announced only aware of where two of the search parties had gone to but, none of the others.

Alastair Khan did not pay too much attention to the other man as he entered the lounging area soon after him -- he was much too enraptured by the wonderful rug he had stretched his lanky body across. It was so plush and fluffy! He had never in his life felt something so soft and he momentarily pondered over what on earth it must have been made out of it. Fleece? Silk? As far as he knew, this was no fabric he had ever come across before and if he ever had he simply couldn't recollect whenever that was. Perhaps at some point during his human life he had once owned one just like it and the memories were now beyond his reach in this new world he existed in? It was lost to the flames that devoured his old mortal residence and he would never truly be able to remember since death clouded over all that was once vibrant in his mind. It was a shame to have lost a majority of his past after his life was snuffed out so abruptly. He often imagined what it must have been like by inspecting the specks and pieces that still drifted through his mind like fog. The last home he had lived in had been one of exquisite beauty and expensive taste. There very well could have been a carpet of this nature in that burned down manor...maybe it had been his favorite? It could have been right next to a cozy fireplace where he would lay down and read books on rainy days...snuggled up in a knitted blanket or two keeping warm...

He smiled lovingly into the fabric at these thoughts and rubbed his cheek against it so that the fibers could tickle his chilled flesh. A small giggle escaped him at the sensation of it and then he sighed lightly as his fantasies became diluted with cold, hard logic that tainted this death he carried on with. It was just a rug. Soft, yes, but there was no point assuming silly nonsense about his past just because it was enjoyable. What was lost was lost and he shouldn't go making himself wistful for what never again could be. The rakshasa sat up and propped his elbows up on his knees before glancing over at Zaine for a moment. His eyes roved up and down the body of his comrade inquisitively -- he inspected the way his chest moved up and down as he breathed, the look of anxiety in his eyes, and the warm look of his skin that all living beings had due to their pumping hearts. A rush of jealousy coursed through him for a brief second and then neutrality reclaimed him once more. It was a rare thing for strong emotions to tarry very long in his spirit and even if he wanted to be more envious of this man for the life he had he simply couldn't maintain it. It was a strange thing, but still, it was a part of carrying on in this abnormal way that he did.

He had been about to answer his companion's question with a shrug of indifference when his senses tuned in to two life sources approaching the tree that they were currently hiding in. A broad smile appeared on his face as he realized that both of them must be other competitors since their course seemed focused on coming exactly to the base and only their teammates would have known where it was in these woods. The rakshasa began to stand to his feet while saying, " Khan did not know before, but now he does. Others are scattered about the trees and wandering the woods, but two figures are approaching our current location. He will go investigate -- Alastair wishes to meet these two comrades."

The phantom-like man shimmered out of existence and into his intangible form once more before drifting out of the base and down to the forest floor just at the bottom of the ancient tree. He rematerialized into his human form just as two people emerged from the dense woods. He smiled at them and waved enthusiastically. They were both exhausted, they had probably been up all night, and this dreary state they were both in set him in a jolly mood. One of them was an elf and the other...was a chimera, if his abilities were reading the buzz of their raw energy correctly. The elven woman, who he slowly realized was the leader, hesitated momentarily at the sight of him and made no further movement towards him as she examined him with her critical golden eyes. She was suspicious, of course, and she certainly had a right to be since he hadn't been here earlier. In fact, he assumed he was probably one of the last teammates to arrive and had probably missed some briefing, but he hoped she would remember that they had trained together earlier on in Mallandaia. It was one of the reasons he liked his leader -- her methods were crafty and furtive much like himself. Only she was more collected and intelligent in her carefully laid out plots to attack others and gain advantages over them. In another life, she could have made a wonderfully awful person, but her morals were far too great to stoop that low.

" Make no sudden movements forward...Who are you stranger? What do you want?" she called to him softly, from where she stood a few feet away from where he currently was. The rakshasa tilted his head to the side and flickered in and out of visibility as he gazed towards her. She must not have remembered him. That or she was so tired that everyone seemed like a potential threat and she'd rather ask than have to generate a great deal of thought to recall names of individuals. He raised his hands in admittance of submissiveness and shook his head back and forth slowly.

" Alastair Khan. He has arrived late to the games, yes, but is very sorry for doing so. He still wants to participate and help Lady Selene win games. Do you not remember him?" Alastair questioned, looking back and forth between the two. The chimera's name was still beyond his recollection...but he believed this was the vice captain of Mallandaia's team. " How wonderful to see you are both still alive! Zaine was worried, but this will surely brighten his spirits." he mumbled, grinning slightly at the two. The elven woman inspected him for a moment more before enlightenment crossed her features and he realized she must have finally remembered who he was. She dropped out of her defensive stature and quickly walked over to the chimera, speaking with him briefly before taking from his hands a small scroll, and then she made her way over to him. The young woman looked up into his amethyst eyes and handed him both the objects she held in her slender hands. One was a dagger...the other was the scroll he had seen.

She gave him a brief smile and said, " Yes, I remember you now, Khan. You are the rakshasa, correct? Do you recall what we both spoke of during our training back home? I need you to go through with your...hidden talents." The rakshasa blinked as he tried to think back on whenever it was they had spoken of something of this sort. It was tricky, like grasping at clouds that disintegrated once you got close enough, but he gleaned some information off of the fabrics he managed to capture. The hidden talents scheme she had shared with him at the beginning of their training. With some practice, the two of them together had discovered that Alastair could join other objects with his own mass by swallowing them while in his corporeal forms. After having swallowed said objects, he could carry them with him as he switched in and out of intangibility, thus making him the perfect on-the-move storage unit. It would mean he wouldn't be able to go into the base, but that wasn't really necessary anyways since he didn't need sleep or any kind of mortal rest. The only downside was that holding objects in that state with him exhausted his resources and so he could only hold them for a certain amount of time. If he was weakened too drastically and had to return to his incorporeal form to regenerate he would not be able to take the objects with him since he would be too drained. Other than that tiny flaw, it was fool proof to utilize this newfound skill of his. He nodded his head in response to her question and quickly widened his mouth to begin swallowing the scroll.

Khan's human maw gaped open much wider than it should have been able to as his jaw unhinged and he shoved the scroll down his throat -- making choking sounds until it finally got out of his airway. After that he could no longer feel it. He then proceeded to shove the dagger down his gullet and then they were both gone. He looked normal and no one would ever be able to tell that he carried them inside his form -- unless, of course, they dissected him or weakened him and waited for the objects to be released. He looked back down at the woman's horrified face and chuckled before saying, " Will that be all, Selene?" She nodded her head and explained to him that she was calling a meeting together for the others -- he could wander around, but not enter the base for this event and so she would inform him later of his duties. Without another exchange of words she hurried up into the branches of the tree and disappeared from sight. A long, soft and airy bird whistle was emitted into the air though from high up in the branches. He remembered hearing it somewhere before and then realized it was the signal that Selene had taught them all to respond to in different ways. This was a means of summoning them secretively.

It was hard not to respond the way he had taught himself how to, but he veered away from the base and meandered off into the woods in search of something to entertain himself with while his team was busy hearing from their leader. Alastair walked some ways before he sensed three death presences...two of them were familiar, but the last one new. He grinned a bit as he corrected his course to go meet up with the two children once more and whoever their new dead companion was. He eventually found them both and the radiant young-looking woman they were with -- though he could sense she was much older than her appearance let on, much like the children. Khan cleared his throat to break up the rather tense scene that had been developing between the three of them and stepped right up beside them all. He liked joining other conversations -- even when he had no true part to take in them. The children looked just as fiendish as ever and the woman, who he sensed...was something dead, perhaps a vampire? She looked irritated by the two of them for some reason or another. " Tsk, tsk, tsk. Really now, children, you are horrible at this. You didn't even take the advice he gave you! Alastair Khan told you to pick on people your own size.." he chided them both, before placing a shimmering hand on Thana's small head. He then raised it up to float above the strange lady's head before saying, " See? Not your size. Bigger. Too tall for you shorties. Khan could pick on her, but you can't."

Selene waited in solemn silence with her head bowed respectfully to the Quetzalcoatl before her and felt as though time had frozen still on this moment while her offer was carefully inspected. She could feel his large eyes still staring down upon her small form and did not miss the sound of the giant animal inhaling to retrieve the scent of the ivory pelt she was holding above her head. Her mind tossed and turned in the turmoil of what she would have to do depending on his inevitable response. Should he accept this trade, than everything would go smoothly, and she would take her dagger and step back to allow her vice captain a turn in this bartering process. If she or her prized fur wrap be deemed unworthy of the dagger than it was also quite simple, if not rather unsettling; She would be promptly swallowed and her part in these legendary games would be made microscopically small. Then something that sounded very similar to splintering and breaking bones broke the quiet of the forest. This odd set of noises was what caused her to glance up from her position very briefly and she noticed that the ginormous snake was shifting its form into a much smaller shape. It was a grand display of power as the bones moved and broke to compact themselves into a body that ended up looking very human. As the lower portion of his body began to meld itself together the elven woman quickly averted her eyes and went back to keeping her gaze on the ground. It was respectful to do so, of course, but she also felt no need to look at the exposed male genitals that this ancient creature now had since he had taken on a human form.

She listened as he moved towards her and gently took the wrap from her hands to wrap it around his own neck with great care. The last of the Deyron family looked up to face him directly and found that he was quite pleased with her offering to him or at least the relaxed smile he now wore made her believe this was the case. As he voiced his satisfaction and the young boy moved to hand her the Ithus team's dagger she could not help but feel a little hollow now that she had given away something that was so dear to her. It had been her first honor killing. She could still vividly remember the day she had brought it home. The amazement from her peers, the smile and congratulations her sister had given to her upon seeing her kill, and best of all the look of pride in her father's amber eyes. He had been so pleased with her performance that day and she had brought great honor to family name by having done so exceedingly well. It was painful to give that up now just to move forward in these games, but she knew what she had to do and reassured herself with the knowledge that her father would have easily done the same thing if it meant moving forward towards victory. Aure had told her that if she wanted to she could return to him and attempt to make another bargain to reclaim her keepsake, but the warrior made no immediate response to this offer as she stepped back and let her teammate step up to the plate. They had one item and it was time to see if they could successfully obtain another. Selene watched from a distance as Craos offered up the bag of Agaldi stones and managed to explain them as best he could to the other man that stood before him. She could tell that the Quetzalcoatl did not like her second in command, but was in fact entertained by the precious stones that he had to give and the trade for Team One's scroll ended up going smoothly as well. A light smile danced across her lips as the chimera returned to her side and commented on how tired he was at that moment.

The nineteen year-old returned her attention to the man they had just finished business with and bowed her head once more in respect before quietly saying, " We thank you for these two items, Ez'ruen Aure, and hope our offerings only continue to please you. As for the third item you possess, I only ask that you never give it up to any other being. No matter what they say, keep it hidden. Keep it far from the reaches of any other, but yourself." She hoped that the Zeladis people who were here could only dream of obtaining their item from this creature. They wouldn't get their greedy, nasty little paws on it if she could help the matter and that was why she had made absolutely no move to trade for it. " As for my pelt, I kindly thank you for offering me a chance to reclaim it, but...I fear I have nothing of equal or greater value to trade. And I know not of what I could find within these woods that would so please you and have you want to part with it. I wish you the best, Ez'ruen Aure.." she said politely, and without another word motioned for Craos to follow her away from the beast's lair. The sun was now high up in the sky on this second day and they needed to head back to the base as the chimera had said before. A meeting with the others was in order. Things needed to be discussed, arranged, and carried out. Selene moved swiftly through the trees with the cool metal of the dagger in her hand and she kept herself focused on returning to the base -- her mind and body were both exhausted from staying up all evening the night before. She needed sleep, as did Craos, and very soon. She would let Craos sleep once they returned, if he so wished, but she would remain awake for a little longer, and then hand over command to someone else once the meeting was adjourned. She only hoped the others had gotten some sleep...if not they would be unprepared for any attack that might befall them on this day. She would assess the situation and how to handle it when it arose, however. It was pointless to worry about what might not be a problem.

As they neared the base and broke through a patch of trees that happened to be nearby the ancient one their residence was hidden within, Selene startled at the sudden appearance of a man a few feet in front of them and immediately halted her progress forward. He was a very shady person. He had a huge, almost insane grin on his face and his dark hair hid part of his visage that was already shadowed enough by the black cloak he wore. She held the dagger that she had just won out in front of her threateningly as she quickly declared, " Make no sudden movements forward...Who are you stranger? What do you want?" She examined him very critically and narrowed her eyes as his form flickered in and out focus as though he were nothing more than a hallucination. Which could very well be the case due to how sleep deprived she was at this point in time. As he spoke, though, she began to recall exactly who this abnormal man was and as odd as he was she could be at ease since he was from Mallandaia. This was the rakshasa that their team had acquired. She remembered training with him back home and specifically thought of one thing she had spent hours attempting with him to see if he was capable of it. Sure enough, after weeks of practice, they had discovered that he could join small objects with his wraith like self and keep it with him. He could make items untouchable by mortal hands until he became too weak to hold them in that strange limbo that was his non-existence. Selene quickly moved over to her vice-captain and kindly whispered,
" May I, Craos? I need the scroll so I can give it to him -- you can go inside and sleep now. I'll call together a meeting shortly, but I want you to rest so that when I need to break down than at least one of us will be up and running with the others." The elven woman gently took the scroll from his hands and headed over to her other comrade with a slight smile on her face.

" Yes, I remember you now, Khan. You are the rakshasa, correct? Do you recall what we both spoke of during our training back home? I need you to go through with your...hidden talents." she told him, watching as he processed what it was that she was asking of him. A few minutes later he had taken the two items she offered and rather grotesquely engulfed them into his body. It was a disgusting sight...his jaw had unhinged and it looked as though his neck threatened to break or tear a few times during the process but finally he held both objects inside him. They wouldn't be leaving their new safe home anytime soon, either. Unless an arrangement was reached with the leader of Ithus, but that was all to be discussed with her teammates once the meeting was called into order. She excused the spirit to go ahead and wander about the territory before glancing around, then quickly sprinting to the ancient tree that housed their base. She leapt upward, higher and higher into the branches, and only brought her progress to a halt when she came very close to the top. Selene pulled her whistle to her mouth and blew softly, one long airy blast, and the same bird-call that had originally brought them all to congregate in the woods now resonated lightly through their territory. It would not stand out at all from other birds -- except to those members of her team. They had all been trained to distinguish its noise from others and so she knew they would come. If they were still alive and could hear they would be summoned. The elf dropped down through the branches and slipped inside the base through the secret entrance. Once inside, she let her shoulders relax a little bit, and a soft sigh escaped her mouth as she treaded further into the base.

The slender warrior eventually came across the lounging area and at first tensed when she spotted Zaine sitting there, but then remembered that the rakshasa had made mention of him...and recalled that the tiefling was indeed a friend and not a foe. Her lips formed a tired smile as she moved over to one of the large, ornate couches and allowed herself to sit down on the rich green cushions. Selene's sore and weary muscles relished in the comfort, but she didn't allow herself the luxury of closing her golden eyes since she feared she would fall asleep. She glanced over towards her teammate and said, " It's good to see you made it. Better late than never, after all. We'll be having a meeting here in just a few minutes, once everyone arrives, and I'll fill you in on what you've missed thus far..." Somewhere in the base there was an official meeting room, but she couldn't bring herself to care enough about going to find it and so she mentally decided that they would simply host a gathering in here. This one was more comfortable anyways, probably, and she didn't like the idea of having the meeting in a dreary place. The lounge area would do just fine and people would come across it on their way deeper into the base no matter which way they went so it was an ideal first meeting spot. Selene stretched her arms in front of her as she waited drowsily for the others to arrive and be briefed.

Craos’ exhaustion only grew as they made the long trek back to their hidden base. By the time they arrived, he was so tired that he just wanted to flop down where he stood and sleep. However there was no time for that, as suddenly the two came upon a face that even to Craos was somewhat unfamiliar, or for a moment. Being so tired, he could barely remember that Khan was part of their little team and was just a late arrival. Thankfully Craos was just too tired to even react, and as for Selene who also didn’t recognize him well she relaxed too once Khan explained who he was.

With just a lazy nod, both to Khan’s reminder and Selene’s asking to hand the scroll over he did as he was told and went on inside as Selene said. As he walked in, he paused to glance over to Zaine and again being somewhat forgetful he was able to remember who he was.

“Craiohsss sahlieehp” he spoke to Zaine warily, making his way deeper into the base. When he found a room that consisted of about three beds, Craos eyed them for a moment. “Craiohsss beahdee!” he called out the others.

Now Chimera were often picky about their sleeping arrangements. They tended to just pile up fur and other soft materials into a large pile and then curl up in them. So being the greedy creature he was, he pushed the beds together to enlarge his sleep space, piled the pillows and blankets and then curled up in them. Within seconds he was a sleep, and anyone who walked by would likely see what looked like a large bed, center of the room with a barely visible mass curled up in the blankets.

Amber heard from a little bird that there was a meeting at Team Two's Base, in thanks she gave the bird a crumb of bread. She wasn't able to do much exploring due to her meeting with Odalus, but that was fine, there were plenty of other players, whom probably had much more experience than herself.

She looked out into the distance of trees. She hadn't traveled far, and her path was still fresh in her mind as she began to back-track her way back to the base. She yawned, she felt sort of useless at the moment as she walked all by herself back to Base.
"I'll do better next time. . ." She muttered softly. After what seemed like hours of endless walking through trees, Amber spotted her team's base. She sighs, "I hope I'm not in trouble. . ." She walked up to the base and entered the base. She looks around to see no one in sight, and she frowns a little confused about where everyone else was. She walks deeper into the camp walked and passes by the lounge and sees Serene and Zaine there. She walks into the lounge and just stands there awkwardly, a little unsure of what to do or say. She slowly stammered a, "H-Hello. . ." She just nods, and stays where she was standing. They all looked relaxed, and yet Amber felt so stiff.

As the sun finally set in the horizon and the moon rose high into the sky, Craos began to finally stir from his sleep and slowly drag himself from his bed. As he crawled his way out of his pile of pillows and blankets, he took each step to pause and stretch his limbs in order to strengthen and awaken his muscles. By the time he reached the door out of his room, Craos was feeling refreshed and ready for a new day though night was likely the better term for it. Before heading on out of his room to see what the others were up to, he paused to leave his marking on the door. Just a few claw marks that warned those not to tread into his room.

With that quickly settled, he trotted off into the main section of their hidden base where he could see a few of the members here though most still seemed to be missing. Selene still looked rather tired, though he guessed she had chosen not to sleep while the others seemed fairly aware. Not only that but two new members stood before them; late arrivals if he was correct.

“Craiohsss no sahlieehp no muor.” He spoke to the group, finding a good spot on one of the furniture to curl up on. “Craiohsss reidee fauxur deai…” he paused when a loud groan vibrated from his stomach, “reidee fauxur fusss tuus.” He quickly added in, noting that they still needed sustenance. There was no point in them trying to fight the other teams or go into their territory if not one person on their team had the energy for it.

Cieven Yaine
╚═════════════════╝

Location: Team Two Base
Condition: Wounded, Tired
Those around: Members of Team Two in their base
Team 2
------------------------------

{{Ooc:// This is my post for Cieven returning. It's not lovely as I don't know where anyone is inside the base any longer. }}

Blood dropped down his arm as he put his back against a tree and winced. Any sign of jovial Cieven was gone as he rested against the tree, breathing heavy with a deep cut along his left arm. He has another cut above his right eye, so his right away was closed shut with dried blood. His right hip had another cut, though this one seemed to have already healed. His right side was still red from bleeding though. "Got... to get back." He muttered as he pushed away from the tree and continued forcing himself on. He had gotten lost, found the wall, and was now tracking it back to the base. He simply hoped he was on the right side, he was probably a walking target out here. He could hear things in the forest, but he stayed focused. He was not one to fear anything, and staying focused on the task made fearing anything virtually impossible. He stopped as he looked up. He'd found it.

How to get in? He couldn't well remember. It had been a long time since he had been here. Eventually he found the door, a minute almost wasted in finding it before he pushed it open. He made sure not to get blood on the door, opening it with his right hand, before stepping in and making his way onward. He had not been in here before, nor did he know what to expect when he stepped into the lobby. There was one, a girl, standing looking at the others. Cieven gave her a glance, the most he could give before stepping against the wall, putting his back against it as he wince. He hadn't said a word yet, unusual for Cieven to say the least as he slid into a sitting position on the ground. How would they react to the oddly injured Cieven? He didn't say much of anything as he seemed to rest for the moment, but then...

"Enyo, the medic; Scythe, the elf; and Drake, the necro won't be joining us. They didn't make it back." Was that all he could offer as he reached up and touched the cut above his eyes. It looked like the only reason it was bleeding was because he had gotten the wound wet moving through the forest. As for his left arm, it was clearly from having moved it a great deal in getting back. "Craos... someone... can someone get me some water?" It was on odd request, and Cieven didn't open his eyes to ask, he just asked with them closed. He had heard Craos's voice, judging him to be the most likely to move. regardless, Cieven went still after that, resting.

The harpy couldn't help but puff out her chest when the male of the group agreed to her idea. She was a genius! With her ego boost, she wasn't even listening when he started walking and warned her about any flying predators that may attack. No, she was too worked up to hear such a thing. With a nice bounce, she was flung from the ground and into the trees where she then hopped from branch to branch, making her way up to the very tip-top. The adventure was short and as soon as she hit the open air, she inhaled deeply. The sight was beautiful and she could see everything from up here! Dismissing the view for the moment, she sharp golden eyes peered over the trees for larger trees nearest the wall. It took a moment or two, but she eventually spotted one in the direction they come originally come from. It was taller than the rest, peeking over the canopy as Kaia was, and obviously a lot older too. Please with herself, she leaped through the leaves towards the larger tree, making sure to knock fruit down to trail after her for her two teammates to follow. She wasn't going to duck down into the trees every time she wanted them to changed directions. This was simply going to be easier.

The trip took possibly thirty minutes to an hour before she was close enough to the base that she dropped down from the canopy to the forest floor. She took a moment to glance over her shoulder to make sure her two mates were still alright and still behind her before she climbed up the old tree's branches and slid into the base's opening. Once inside the lounging area, she offered it's occupants a wide grin. "Honies, I'm home!" Slipping forward, she flopped herself onto one of the many couches and nearly purred to the feeling. This place was an awesome hideout. Maybe she should build one for herself when she got back home. "My buddies are almost here. We ran into a little issue while we were comin` back. No one's dead, though."

Selene let her head fall back and rest along the top of the couch she was currently seated upon before closing her golden eyes. She could not believe how tired she was feeling and it was still so early on in the games. There was so much that had to be done! She had to continue to execute commands and make sure that her teammates were utilized to the best of their capabilities in tasks that they would excel in. Along with that, she had to make sure that those under her actually followed the commands that they were given and somehow effectively make sure that they knew she was leader. The last thing she needed were people who thought they could step all over her and play by their own rules in these games because that was not going to fly. They needed to function smoothly. Otherwise the team that had been so carefully put together would fray at the seams and rapidly deteriorate with absolutely no chance of winning. That was not an option. They would work well together and follow orders or she would promptly lock them up in the jail of the base -- that was that. She was not an unreasonable person, but she knew what kind of people were necessary and what needed to happen to achieve victories. Bad attitudes and stubborn personalities were not some of those attributes. If they could not effectively contribute to a successful day's work then they would be put out of the way and the jail with multiple cells somewhere deeper in the base seemed like a good idea. The only teammate who currently might need this to happen was Natasha, of course, but if anyone began to raise their heads in protest to the way things were being run than she would not hesitate to let them join the Scythe down below. Measures needed to be taken to assure survival. She was not a ruthless person, but she would not sit back and let her team fall apart from the inside.

The sound of approaching footsteps caused the elven woman to startle slightly from her thoughts over the matter of maintaining a hold of her team and she turned to see another young elf approaching. She looked to be a few years younger than herself, but the girl's name was currently slipping the team leader's mind. She was so tired and there were so many different teammates that she simply could not recall what her title was. It was some kind of natural material, but other than that nothing came to mind. She nodded her head slightly in her direction before saying, " Good to see you made it. We're going to have a team meeting soon. Please feel free to take a seat, but don't leave, alright?" She moved to take off her quiver of arrows and placed them on a table that was in the center of the room. Selene placed her bow right alongside it and then stretched out on the sofa for a moment to make herself more comfortable. She wouldn't fall asleep...she just wanted to lay back while waiting for the others to arrive. Her mind continued to swirl with things that they needed to do. Food needed to be gathered and brought back...there was sure to be some basic supplies in the kitchen, but it was probably nothing she herself would desire to eat considering she liked to hunt and gather everything that sustained her. Anything in the storage here would most likely be domesticated animals that had been slaughtered or vegetables and fruits grown in human orchards rather than in the forests. The very idea dissuaded her appetite quite a bit. Hunting was in order. Along with finding their items. She had to choose people to take with her into the other territories and some to stay behind and guard...

The nineteen year-old's eyes snapped open a couple of hours later and a groan escaped the young woman's lips as she groggily realized she must have fallen asleep by mistake. She wiped a hand tiredly over her face and rubbed her eyes as she sat up on the couch. The elf quickly realized that both Zaine and Amber were both still there waiting with her and she felt slightly embarrassed for having dozed off with the both of them there. What a great, lazy impression she had just given them of herself. " I...apologize. I must have been more tired than I realized." she quietly murmured, as she dug through her pouch for the small bag of berries she had collected earlier. Selene popped a few into her mouth and chewed thoughtfully, letting the energizing juices escape their containment and flood her tongue with their tangy, sweet flavor. She swallowed and immediately began to feel their affects as her mind began to become more alert after the long nap she had just taken. She awkwardly wondered how much time had passed...and then realized that still no one else was with them. Her lips formed a worried frown and she stood up to her feet just as Craos was entering the room. If he was finally waking up she realized it must be quite later than she originally thought and panic began to rise up inside her. Where were her teammates? " Has no one else returned while I was--"

That was when Cieven slumped into the lounge area from the hallway that led to the base's entrance. Selene's mouth gaped open in shock at the condition he was in and her mind raced to try and piece together what on earth must have happened. When he opened his mouth to inform them of their losses she suddenly felt very hollow. Three teammates. Gone. It was only the second evening in the woods and already they had lost three of their own to the monstrosities lurking around the island. Selene rushed to the other's side and quickly handed him her canteen filled with spring water, " Here. Drink." Her voice was very soft as she spoke now and she briefly examined his wounds -- they would need to be taken care of, but they had no medic now. The elf gently led him over to have a seat in one of the lounge chairs and then proceeded to say, " Amber. Run down to the hospital room and grab some bandages along with supplies to tend to his injuries. Craos, Zaine -- could the both of you locate the kitchen and find something for all of us to eat? Something that does not need cooking, preferably. That way we can down it quickly while we talk and get things taken care of. I'll be right back. Cieven...I'm so sorry. I should have...I'm sorry."

His arrival and the news he brought had certainly put her into a very somber and dismal mood. She had messed up. If she hadn't separated them all throughout the woods...maybe this wouldn't have happened. Three lives could have been spared and Cieven would be unharmed. Her choice and her orders had killed three people today. She was a failure. A disappointment. The three who had died deserved better than this..they deserved better than her. Dark thoughts whispered and echoed through her mind as she moved away from her wounded comrade and she made her way towards the entrance. Kaia breezed in as she was heading out looking much happier than the elven woman now felt and reported that the third party was coming home alive. " Thank you, Kaia. Please keep..please keep Cieven company while I'm outside. I'll be right back." Selene whispered, continuing on her way. She exited the secret door and climbed out to crouch amongst the dense foliage that the ancient tree branches provided. The faces of her three fallen recruits haunted her mind.

They hadn't needed to die. She had failed them and because of that they would not make it home. Her golden eyes began to sting and she quickly closed her eyes as she inhaled deeply to try and reign in the emotions that were overwhelming her. She felt awful. She was the scum of the earth right now...she had been so focused on winning and accomplishing goals that she had forgotten to value the people she was commanding. They were dead now as a result of her neglect for their safety. Selene bit her lip and clenched her hands into fists. She felt so enraged at herself. If she had done something differently maybe they would still be alive...A single tear escaped her and she furiously wiped it away before she breathed in and let it all go. No one was supposed to die during this scouting mission, but she could not let it affect her abilities as a leader. Some were still alive and they needed her at her best. Her face became stoic and unreadable once more as she buried the anger and shame deep inside her where no one else would see it. Leaders had no time to express their feelings. It was a distraction. She would not allow herself to fall apart again. At least this time she had gotten away from the others before proceeding to lose a hold of herself.

Selene retrieved her bird whistle and gave one long blow one more time to hopefully call home anyone else still wandering in the woods. Sebastian had still not returned and she was beginning to believe that a similar fate might have befallen the human. Any team two members that remained out and about would hear the sound though and know that they could follow it to safety. She prayed to her Creators that perhaps no more had been sacrificed due to her inadequacy. She let the silence settle around her before blowing another long blast and then noiselessly slipped back inside the base. The elven woman felt quite empty as she sat back down on one of the couches and held her head in her hands while trying to think over what needed to be done now. " We'll start the meeting here soon.."

Guessing he could wait just a little bit longer for food, Craos patiently sat with the others and waited for the rest of their team to arrive. Hopefully they would all come soon, for Craos did not want to wait too much longer. He was already starving and if he needed to wait any longer than Craos was certain that he would end up eating all of the food in the kitchen. If there was any to begin with since Craos had no idea if the game moderators stored some food in all of the bases pre-game. Thankfully he could hear the door to the base opening and soon enough four of their missing team members arrived.

One of them, Cieven, was gravely injured though and they still seemed to be missing a few specifically the three that Cieven mentioned as “not returning” which confused Craos somewhat for why wouldn’t they be returning? Glancing between the two, his ears perked at Selene’s command that he and Zaine go retrieve some food from the kitchen and without even waiting for Zaine, Craos bolted for it. He needed a moment or two to pause as he searched for the kitchen, hoping that if there was food in it he could smell on. On his third attempt he could pick up on the faint smell of dried meats and again without waiting he ran for the kitchen.

Barely avoiding sliding into a wall he scoured the kitchen for anything edible, gathering it onto a table in preparations to carry it back to the main room for everyone to eat. As he did this, he paused for a moment to think back onto Cieven’s statement of “not returning”.

“Wuaught no riiturin miiing? Thuai no bahku waeye?” he asked aloud, thinking long and hard about it for a moment. After some time of pondering, he began to wonder what could really keep someone from not returning. There was being kidnapped, but then why wouldn’t Cieven just say that? They could have quit… but that would have been odd. Then it dawned onto him.

Craos sat there, looking at the ground as his ears drooped. Glancing to an apple in his hands, he found his appetite quite gone now and just began to gather up some of the food for everyone.

“Gud peepuugle guawn… no gud…” he muttered, working to carry as much food as his hands could.

Breathing hard, Lacy started at the Salamander with fear in her eyes. She breathed hard and looked around to see if there was any way out. There was, but she would have to move fast. She wasn’t sure how it had managed to make it up the tree or how the tree was able to with stand the weight of the being, but in the end, there was no time to question. Just do. With a deep breath she moved quickly. Flipping up in to the tree, the Salamander snapping as It tried to reach for her. As the salamander climbed up with her, she realized that she was soon running out of room to climb up, and if she fell now, or decided to jump, she would definitely break a leg. She could only jump and roll across the ground at a certain height and this was definitely exceeding that height. With a deep breath in she had one chance, and one chance alone, or so she thought. There was a creaking sound, and looking around at the tree she resided in her heart set to a faster panic. The tree was drying out. The leaves were starting to lose their colour and shrivel and while it would take a while for the bark to such signs the tree wouldn’t be stable. She had to get out, but the salamander was blocking her way. As it snapped at her before sending hot steams of air back into the tree the now cracked leaves turned to crisps and she began to dodge, losing her footing she feel until a branch came near her. Her hand grabbed it, forcing herself back up and giving her a spot standing right next to the beast. In the moon light that shone up here, she started at the Salamander in horror as It went for her again. Blood oozed everywhere but it started to fry the minute it touched the hide and gave a putrid fool smell. As it went for her, Lacy pulled out her dagger last minute, used the tree for stability as she jumped, and lunged the dagger into the lizards face. Right from the center of its eye, down and through part of its neck as she cut side ways and watched the beast fall to the ground. The Salamander fell with a thud as lacy turned to her blade that almost glowed from the heat it had just encountered. It was dead, finally, but more were coming.

Starting down to the Salamander below she questioned if it was Isabel. Maybe it was. Her blue orbs started at the beast for a moment until it started to transform back into the girl she had known. She was a shifter! An amazing being to be. A shifter could become just about anything, and she was quite impressed, but when another Salamander came, Lacy held her breath as she jumped to somehow get the girl out of there. When suddenly there was a noise hideous and un humanly. The Salamander that came at them drowned itself in cries of pain as in the background the faint cry of a bird hit her hearts, but it was not a bird. They were being summoned back and as long as the whistle continued it would be no problem to finding the base. But first they had to get out of this predicament. She listened as the Salamanders soon became silenced, and the only thing to listen too was the bird call. She started to where the Salamander would be. Soon the scrambling of beasts started to make it away from them. How many had there been, Salamanders didn’t normally travel in packs, unless there was reason to. She breathed hard, trying to figure out what it was that had just occurred when a voice came at them in the darkness. The name and voice sound familiar. She nodded, even though he probably wouldn’t hear it. Thank you Khan! She told him, grabbing Isabel’s wrist and running towards the sound. It was as if her body had now kicked into a higher mood. She could see better hear better. Her feet carried her quickly, running on the balls of her toes as she had learned to do. As she rounded a corner she stopped knowing they had been running, the whistle was about to fade out, but she pulled the map out, starting at the wall and then the map, how they matched. A smile came to her lips, she hadn’t broken a sweat. She loved to run, she ran over three hours a day, while running and climbing through trees and doing other activities but she didn’t break a sweat unless thoren was pushing her. We’re here. She whispered quietly as she rolled the map back up and headed to where it said to enter.

With each set, Lacy wondered about what might have happened to Khan. Was he okay? Did he live, then again, the man appeared out of nowhere. It occurred to her that maybe she was the only human on the playing field. She was sure. The more she thought about the fact that it had taken her. But now she felt her skin begin to react to what had happened to her. As light started to shine in, Lacy could finaly get a good look at her hand, it wasn’t just blistered it was burned. And that worry caused her to lift up her sweater and start down her stomach, the sight made her sick as she forced it back down and started to her leg. Feeling her hair she began to remove te Salamander blood that had fallen down upon her hair. It had dried in thick crisp chunks and showed no remorse as Lacy had to pull it out forcefully and carefully scared to keep ripping out her hair. She wasn’t thinking, but by the time she made it up the stairs she was removing the last chunk of blood and her free hand was gripping the bottom of her sweater as she started at those in the room. The familiar faces. Her cheeks were red with embarrassment, all she saw, now where human. Why was she picked to be in these games. Her eyes glanced back down the stair case as to wonder If Isabel was still trailing behind. Her hand dropped as her hand grabbed her hand now grabbed her sweater. "Hello… I…" Her eyes looked at her leader with complete apology and fear for what she might think that she had failed to participate in the games from the start. Her heart beat was fast as she then took a deep ninety degree bow, her hair falling down past her shoulders as she uttered her apology."I’m sorry that I had yet to properly participate in The Games, and I have fully disrespected those of you, my team mates and my country with my lack of presences. I will take any punishment for my absence. she told Selena, tears threatening her eyes. She had tried not to think about this moment that she would have to face her leader and explain how she simply didn’t feel worthy enough to participate in the games. A human was not worthy, especially her. She wanted to prove she had something to show for all her years of training, but she had nothing to show but being absolutely late. Slowly she lifted her head starting at those in the room, but mostly focusing upon her leader. What must she think? Was she mad? Did they even care? How much had she missed, had they recovered any items or kept any from the other teams. Where the others in jails? She had so many questions that she didn’t feel she had the right to ask and know about. She started back, hoping that Selena would answer her. Thoren would have had her head for this if he knew, he was probably at the ceremony awaiting to see her off and when she had faled to show. Oh the shae she must have brought him. Lacy wanted to collapse right there on the floor. Her eyes started back down to her leg as her hand slowly rubbed over the burns she had received from the Salamander. "Please tell me at least, that we haven’t lost anybody and no one Is in the jails" her eyes pleading that everything would be alright. Otherwise she would start taking the blame upon herself for not being there.
