The swing creaked as Kathryn sat down on the seat. She kicked off from the ground and swung lazily back and forth. It felt rather foolish to be sitting in the dark on a swing but Kathryn gave a quick, furtive look around the surrounding area before proceeding. Like a pro she quickly gained enough momentum to have the swing moving back and forth in an impressive arc. Ceasing her pumping motion Kathryn readied herself. Hopefully she'd manage to land on her feet. Coaxing her hands from the chains Kathryn gave one last pump before letting the swing travel backwards. Once all the way back Kat quickly shuffled forwards before the swing started on its forward trajectory. At the height of the swing's apex Kathryn pushed herself out of the seat. It was at this moment that Kathryn experienced the oddest sensation.

Her mind blurred for a second as her weight decreased rapidly. Her form shrunk to that of a feline. Kathryn was not aware of this until she hit the ground hard. Kathryn grunted with the impact of landing. That dismount seemed to have been harder to master than expected. Kathryn shook off the bone-jarring pain in her limbs before freezing. Her eyes widened. She had seen a brief flash of a cat's paw in her vision. Frantically she backpedaled fearing that she'd landed on some innocent creature. When nothing appeared further in her vision a slow trickle of thought began to form.
... ... ...
Realization struck her. Kathryn held up a paw inspecting it with a detached expression. This couldn't be real. How could she be a cat? A gust of wind ruffled her fur as she lashed her tail agitatedly. "I must be dreaming. This is only a dream." Okay ... the dream aspect was looking like a good candidate. Cats didn't usually have the power of human speech. However Kathryn's mind was torn. If this was a dream how come she'd hit the ground with so much force and felt it reverberate through her bones?
She obviously wasn't going to hang around at the park that was for sure. Taking care not to be seen Kathryn darted back to the swings and pawed at her cell phone and keys. Luckily she'd opted for a lanyard to hold her keys so it was relatively easy to transport them. But what about her cell phone? She couldn't leave it here to be picked up by some random child. Why of all days did today have to start like this? After a few failed attempts Kathryn managed to wrap enough of her lanyard around her phone. It'd have to do for now. But the question next on her mind was where to go. She couldn't return home looking like a cat. She'd continue to her original destination then. Maybe she could stay out of sight for a while. Meowing pitifully Kathryn bounded away into the shadows that remained.
