The Negaverse General stood on the roof of the theatre building, as per usual, looking out over the downtown district and smiling fondly. It was cold out, and looked like rain, but she didn't mind. There was something in her blood that stirred for cold weather.

She usually blamed being English.

Rain was nice, though sometimes it could really muck up some plans. It often drove people inside, in fact, and that was never fun for a woman looking for energy to steal. But then, when one often hunted at night anyway, a lack of people was something she got used to fairly quickly.

In any case, rain always made everything smell fresh and new, and it hearkened to something old and basic. Primal, in its way. A kind of renewal of the earth that took a long time, and could be very annoying in the interim, but was always worth it in the end. It washed away what was old and worn out, and brought in new worlds.

There was new fun to be had, she just had to find it. Hoping down from the roof, she landed lightly on the dumpster beside it, as she often did. She was surprised that there weren't two small dents in the lid for where her feet so often connected with it.

Cold and wet, his fur wasn't all that thick save for his tail, Benitoite was cursing the weather. Normally rain wasn't such a bad thing, the smell was nice but even better was how it made old architecture look, but right now the rain was a horrid thing which he wished would just cease and leave him be. He needed to get dried off, and get the blood from that rat off his front paws. He still wasn't sure what had lead to him giving chase to the damnable animal, perhaps it was the fact it had been making noise and attracted his undivided attention and than ran from him! He couldn't be sure but the floor was soaked into his fur and the rain hadn't washed it all away.

Absorbed in his thoughts, and the killing of the poor (though deserving) rat, he didn't sense that familiar darkness of a Negaverse agent as he rounded a corner and into the alley he went. He was hoping to find some form of shelter and possibly some way to dry off. He'd planned to survive out on his own but he did not like being cold and wet and have blood on him! It simply didn't work, at least not right now.

What he did notice, and was startled from his thoughts by, was the loud sound of someone, or something, heavy landing on a dumpster lid. He didn't even think as he jumped and gave a loud meow. The meow even startled him, he had yet to make that sound till now. Looking up he spied someone he knew, very well, and needed to gain the attention of. "General!" His tail, heavy with water, dragged behind him as he stood looking up at her with hopefully familiar eyes.

Painite nearly jumped out of her gears, and off the dumpster, when the meow and thump disrupted her focus. Lack of focus, really, as her mind had been wandering away quite badly and she had almost forgotten to check back in and get going for the night. She looked at the cat, wide eyed.

But not out of fear.

"A cat!" She said. She had not seen this one before but something about him certainly felt familiar. In fact, she was certain she knew him, though she was sure the only Negaverse cat she had met personally was Hiro. She tilted her head to one side, eying the cat in wonder.

"Who are you? Oh! You're water logged. What are you doing out in the rain?" She moved to scoop him up, without asking permission, as per usual. When she had a good idea she tended to pursue it, and she was sure the cat did not actually want to be so wet, and certainly wouldn't mind a chance to get out of the rain.

She didn't mind the blood on his paws, if she noticed at all.

"I was out patrolling." He stated, his tail being given a glare as it annoyed him; really it was heavy with water. It was one reason if he ever had a fluffy cat, not that he was much of a cat person, he would shave it's fur; especially the tail.

The blood on his face he wasn't even aware of, though he should have realized it was there seeing as he had been eating from that rat he'd killed. But his mind hadn't told him that and he hadn't looked into any reflective surface since he'd taken in his feline form.

"Well, right now I'd say I'm a cat though normally I am your Captain - Benitoite." No, he really was not pleased with being a feline and it was not normal. He didn't like begging, pleading, or whining but he did just that as he leaned in to nuzzle at her chest. "I'm unsure just how I've come to be a cat but I felt something, right before it. It was a wash of power, or something." Best to give her whatever information he had to offer right off the bat, she might know something or be able to figure something else. "I had been heading toward a feeling of power, like those cats, it was abnormal - large."

Painite was very much a cat person. Well, not literally, as Benitoite was now, but she was fighting so hard not to hug him for all she was worth at the moment. She was looking at him with a particularly funny face, chewing on her lower lip and wearing her thoughts plainly on her expression and in her eyes as she looked him over.

Must not squish.

She lost her will when he nuzzled against her, cuddling him to her and wishing once again that she had a kitty. She really needed to go to the adoption place and get one, as it would clearly make her life an infinitely happier place.

"Well, that's insane. I've never heard of anything like that. Can you go to our negaspace still? Do our leaders know about this? Were there others with you? Would you like a ball of yarn?" She grinned at him, knowing there was work to do but also wanting to take him home and warm him up.

His poor tail was soggy and he looked fairly miserable.

"No, I can't teleport, or anything. At best I can sense others who are powered. That's all I've noticed and I've not a clue who knows or doesn't, or if anyone else has been cursed into this form." He spoke, disliking his lack of information and the lack of ability to do anything. He had a lot of things he disliked right now, and all for good reason.

"Essentially I'm powerless as I am now." And he liked having her hug him, it was comforting and in her arms he felt safe. He knew he was safe here, Painite wouldn't let a single thing even think to harm him.

"I was alone when this happened, so there may be others out there like me, other officers." Implying there may also be senshi, as he clarified who he was mostly referring to. "I don't know...I did just hunt down and kill a rat to eat...so it would seem some things about me, mentally, are compromised." Oh god a ball of yarn...if he went for that he'd really scold himself mentally for it when he was done...playing with the yarn. "Would it be terribly troublesome to ask if I could get dried off some, this tail is rather heavy and being wet makes the coldness worse." Maybe he'd have to get her a kitty, she seemed the sort who could do with one or perhaps two. He'd never thought about it till now. But it seemed to fit somehow.

Painite looked very confused, but she was also very, very amused. And the instinct to laugh, as well as cuddle and squish, was rising. She told herself to be serious, to remember her rank and get to the bottom of this strange event.

But what was it hurting?

"Powerless? Well, you're just going to have to stick with me and stay safe, my boy," she said, shaking her head. She stroked his fur and kissed him on the top of the head. It just reminded her how badly she wanted a pet, but she had never imagined of turning someone she knew and liked into one.

Though, if she knew it was possible she might have considered...

"No trouble at all. Let's get you home," he knew where she lived, anyway, so she had no problem taking him there now. She'd get him dried off and give him proper food. Then see if she had a ball of yarn, because damn it she needed to see if he had cat instincts. Maybe a laser pointer...

She carried him against her, to keep him warm and safe, and made to hop her way back to her house. She didn't know if it was safe to teleport with him, and she wasn't too far from her house anyway.

"I will, but I also need to get out and see if anyone else is in this predicament or anyone out here has a clue. So I'll sleep at your home?" He ventured to hope. He didn't want to stay indoors though, he had to help and try to figure this mess out, at least as much as he could anyway. He was hoping he could find anything out, even if it was the littlest bit of information it would do.

Had he any idea what was going through her head he'd be scowling at her. He was not about to play and chase around a ball of yard, or worse off a laser light dot on a floor. No, there was no way he'd lower himself to either of those things, but he was getting the idea into his head that perhaps he should take Gently out to a pet store...or maybe the pound where Lily worked and get a kitten for his friend. Though maybe he could just do it all behind her back and surprise her for Christmas with a kitten in a wrapped up box, with holes in the sides of course. He'd think more on it later, but he would now be plotting against; or for? his friend.

"Thank you Painite, I appreciate this. Maybe between you and I we can gather a sufficient amount of information. I also have something else to warn you of...I meant to but with school and moving...and now this, I haven't had the time yet. Once were indoors I'll tell you." He spoke, giving a nod to his words. His tail moving back and forth as he nuzzled into the General's chest.

"You're always welcome there," she said, smiling brightly, "I'll leave a window open for you to go in and out of."

And she would make him a bed of blankets and pillows to keep warm in, and give him a toy and food and water... and basically treat him like a pet that could talk. No, she would do all of this for him if he were still human and asking her for help as well. She wouldn't put it all on the floor for him at that point, of course, but it was still the same theory.

"I think we can figure something out, certainly," she said, more seriously. There was always a job to be done, in between the squishing of kitties and the fun of these random happenings. Well, fun for her, anyway. Poor Benitoite had to be a cat while she just had to cuddle him.

She nodded her head when he said he had something else to tell her, cuddling him happily and walking them back to her home. She powered down when she was sure it was safe to, then finished the rest of the walk and unlocked the front door. Once inside, she took him to the sofa and sat down.

"There we are," she said, the heating already rolling, "how's your tail? Still all soggy?"

Hearing that she would let him go and come as he pleased he smiled, glad for that. He hadn't been so sure if she'd leave a window open in such cold weather but it seemed he needn't worry, she was going to leave a window open for him.

The normally blond captain was quite sure she didn't need to cuddle him, he was sure she was a cat person who needed a cat. This was something, a problem, he would rectify this coming Christmas. He'd have to purchase her several things, he wouldn't just get her a kitten and nothing to go with it. That would be like giving someone a small row boat and no oars, just as useless really. "I hope we can figure something, and I'm better. Not perfect, but I'll be there soon; thank you." A smile, as much as a cat could give, slid across his features.

"I'll let myself drip dry, like I normally do." A little shake as he stood up on her lap in order to shake himself off.

"I have a matter of importance to speak on...a matter concerning a senshi I encountered several nights back." And by several he meant too many nights back, too many nights back without having told someone. But he had been busy, as he'd already mentioned.

Gently looked at him, tilting her head in wonder. She had powered down, but she was still a General, and she listened to him in the safety of her home. There was no one to hear them, after all, and so they could speak at ease. A cat and a human, talking about matters of the negaverse.

Nothing strange about that.

Petting him for a long moment, she scratched his ears and chin as he spoke, then nodded her head and let him get comfortable on the couch. She built him a little bed out of the throw blanket over the back of the couch, curling it on the cushions. That looked like it would be warm, and comfortable, if he wanted to rest.

"What senshi?" she asked, her expression as serious as it was wont to get on a good day. Her eyes were still smiling and she was still not over the fact that he was a cat, but she was focused and listening, knowing that if he had something to tell her it was probably important.

No matter how adorable his little face was at the moment.

"What happened?"
PostPosted: Tue Dec 06, 2011 1:03 pm

In this world, with this war going on, nothing was strange anymore. He had a feeling that by the time he hit twenty nothing at all would phase him, though this was provided he lived that long. But with the strangeness of this war, being turned i to a cat, and seeing space...yeah nothing could top those three things.

"The senshi of magnetism, Polaris - the North Star." He spoke, answering his General's question, curling up in the bed Gently had made for him, a thankful look given to her. It wasn't that he wanted to rest but he wanted to be warm, it was a nice thing to be.

"I sensed something powerful, more than an eternal senshi; mind you this was several nights back. I went to investigate, anything that feels like a senshi and is that powerful we need to know about. It was...a princess, the eternal senshi is now also capable of being a princess. I did speak with her, to learn what I could. It seems she can go between eternal and princess form but she is beyond a normal eternal senshi." He knew it may have been stupid on his part, to hunt down that signature, but he had to know and whatever had caused it he needed to tell others of.

"Having never seen, or met, a royal senshi before I was unaware others aside from the white moon's princess, the one of the Zodiac, and Ares could become a princess." He had never heard of Castor. He hadn't thought other senshi, ones without special groups, could become royal.

Little claws unsheathed as his paws curled, his best attempt at a clenching of fists. "Thankfully she didn't deem it proper to attack me. I'm lucky, I'm sure of it. She was...polite and kind actually. So she is not one to out right attack one of us, a good thing for us. It wouldn't be good if she were the opposite." His little head tilted to the side as he found himself nuzzling into his little Gently made bed.

General Painite nodded her head.

"They can. I don't think it happens very often. And they are not lead by these princesses: not like our leaders. They're just... more powerful obstacles to overcome, but they are not invulnerable." Her mind flashed back to her very brief encounter a Princess. Painite had managed to hurt her, knock her out of the air during a strange fight in a strange realm.

It had been a strong moment for her, a turning point in her career and a memory that she carried with her. A point of confidence, of pride. And, in its way, assurance.

Painite had seen some of the others as well, and was taking it for granted that they existed.

"The Princes and Princesses are dangerous, but they're just more enemies to beat down. Never alone though, and you were damn foolish for going to talk to one on your own. But I guess I should expect you to look for answers by now. Still, if it had been one of the shorter tempered senshi out there, you might not be a kitty now. Or anything now."

She scratched his ears affectionately, looking worried and relieved at once.

"Don't let them fool you, Alex. A lot of them won't just attack us, but that doesn't make them any less our enemies. They play the part well, pretending to be good and noble and right, and maybe their methods are less violent than ours, but when push comes to shove... you could get hurt. Or worse. Just be more careful. Call me, whenever you need to. I'm your backup."
PostPosted: Mon Dec 12, 2011 10:07 pm

Lowering his head, a fraction, for a few moments he nodded then, ears swiveling a top his head as they picked up every sound around the others home. "I know it was foolish, I hadn't been aware of just what I was heading toward till I saw and they told me. I'll be honest...I hadn't thought it was foolish then. If I'd had been in danger I'd have teleported, to anywhere I know is safe. But I needed to know what I was sensing and why." And it helped to know, he hadn't wanted to not know, and who knows if it would have been something dangerous that would have surprised them at some point? Best to know as soon as you can, right?

"Next time I will call you, since you'll at least accept me being curious and seeking answers." She understood and knew of his need to know everything he could, to understand this whole conflict; or at least as much as was possible without being some super high up in the know member of either main faction.

"They won't fool me, I know what they are...monsters who don't belong." Though they still took on normal appearances and that upset and troubled him greatly. It was easy to see the monster when they were dressed as senshi. The problem was when you took away all those outfits you were left with someone so normal appearing they could be a family member, best friend, romantic partner. It was one reason he refrained from even thinking of dating someone in school. He didn't want to risk it and come out hurt, he'd had a mild hurt one already....but that was his own fault and well deserved. That Princess though...she had looked like some ethereal angel, not the monster senshi were slowly becoming in his eyes. That dress and those wings he could see the appeal, she had looked like she'd stepped out of a fairytale.

"They can't be noble or right, that's what we are. Our hands may not be clean." One paw was lifted to indicate his own stained hands, a way to include himself in his statement, as he silently admitted to something he rarely spoke of and hadn't told Painite even. "But we don't have children fighting our wars nor do we sink to the level they do. We aren't seeking to repeat the destruction we caused in the past, unlike them. We didn't do what all of them did." His kitty head shook before he got up and went to press himself against the other, seeking the comfort he suddenly needed.

"I take it by hurt you mean in a mental sense....physical hurts I've had, they can be handled and mended." Where as the mental sort could not so easily be mended. He already had those hurts as well...and was learning to cope as best he could.

"You'll always be my back up...I trust you with my life." Sincere and honest, he laid his head on Gently's lap, as he lay at her side tightly curled up. "Is it a matter to be concerned with...a Princess? Something we should worry over?" If it was indeed rare that was good...maybe there wasn't a need to kill them all, could they be beaten in one final decisive battle and those left remaining forced to their home planets? In his mind that would be a pleasing idea. He didn't want to kill anyone else.

Gently nodded her head.

Could she really fault him for being curious? When she was new to the negaverse, everything caught her attention. She needed to know, needed to experience everything she could. She was ambitious, more than seeking knowledge, but that had been her own fault to work through. And if she hadn't gotten control of it, hadn't found the balance, she never would have progressed.

There was no point, she found, in trying to change him. She just needed to help him make sure he didn't let himself get killed. Curiosity killing the cat had never been a more fitting statement then in that moment, at least, though she had thought it without irony.

Still, now that it was in her head she stifled a grin.

"Well we definitely need to be concerned that they're getting more powerful," she said, stroking his fur as he rested against her. She, unlike her younger Captain, was not adverse to killing every single one of them. Any time she thought about it, she heard Tanzanite's voice in her ear. Kill them all. At least until it wasn't necessary any more. But they were the enemy, and as long as they existed, they would always be so. "but I don't think it's something we can't handle. Carefully. Now you should take a nap, I think. Being turned into a cat must be exhausting."

And adorable.
