This was about as social as he got. He ventured out of his room holding a book while garbed in civilian clothes. He looked down both sides of the hallway he stood in and then moved to the wall nearest to his door, slid down it and then popped the book open so he could read.

Glasses were neatly perched on his face and his blonde hair fell over his shoulders covering some of the sides of his face as he began to read the next chapter in the book. The book wasn't anything groundbreaking or intense it was just some sort of autobiography about Edgar Allen Poe or at least that is what it claimed to be.

There were some comical passages that made him doubt that it was even truthful at all but it was an interesting read and at least the hallway seemed to be just as quiet as his room thus far. It was these little things that made him feel content and happy even while Yom muttered restlessly at him to go out and do something else that was more active. Funny seeing as the weapon seemed keen for 'napping' when Jude needed her most.

Eva couldn't help but stare. She had just come back from the cafeteria--she had had a nice plate of...something--and had been heading back to her room when she spotted the man sitting up against the wall. She briefly noticed that he had a book in his hands before her attention was caught by something far more important: his hair. ...That guy has really, really long hair. She thought to Chara, stating the obvious.

A slightly exasperated sigh echoed in her head. Yes, yes he does have long hair. What about it?

...You know what? I really want to play with it.

What? Eva, no, I really don't think you should--

Before the weapon could even finish that sentence, the death trainee was striding up to Jude, a friendly smile on her face. Stopping in front of him, she leaned forward and waved in an attempt to catch draw his attention away from the book. "Hi there, I'm Eva! I was wondering--"

Don't do it!

"--What you were reading?" Oh, Chara. Even she wasn't so tactless as to ask a complete stranger to let her play with his hair. Not so soon, at least.

It got his attention alright but then again he wasn't as invested in reading as he usually was so as she waved and spoke up he gazed up at her his eyebrows raising a bit as he peered at her over the rim of his glasses. Jude closed the book a bit using his index finger to keep his place in the book for now as he held it up for her to see the cover, "Some book about Edgar Allen Poe. I don't think the author took it too seriously."

The fact that it made fun of some of Edgar's famous works was probably a clue that and the odd phrasings in some of it.

The title on the book read 'The Poe Quoth' followed by a rather hilarious portrait of Edgar Allen Poe wearing a paper hat and crossed eyes.

Eva chuckled, raising a hand to point at the image of Poe. "I think that gave it away. It definitely looks like an interesting read, though!" Without warning, she suddenly sat down in front of him, tucking her legs under herself as she stretched a hand out towards the other trainee.

"I'm Eva Valente, but please just call me Evie. Who might you be, if I may ask?" She genuinely enjoyed meeting fellow trainees, but at the same time, she had a kind of ulterior motive for wanting to talk to Jude (as if they wasn't obvious by the way she was eying his hair). She stared head tilted and a mischievous gleam in her blue eyes. Unable to help herself, she lifted her hand and pointed to his hair.

"Ever think of tying it back? It looks like it's getting in your way while you're trying to read."

"Yeah, a major clue," he actually chuckled a bit.

"If you want I'll let you borrow it after I'm done," he muttered with a small shrug as he settled the book onto his lap for the time being seeing as she didn't seem like she was leaving him be right away especially when she settled down right in front of him.

Yom giggled softly, {I like her!}

Jude said nothing in return to Yom as he listened to Eva introduce herself, "I'm Jude Hargrave," he replied with a tilt of his head. He had no reason to withhold his name from her though the question she asked next threw him off a bit.

"What?" Jude queried before realization dawned thanks to her pointing at his hair as well, "Oh...Yeah I tie my hair back sometimes, just seemed like a hassle today is all," he said quietly.

"I may have to take you up on that offer sometime," She grinned, before leaning forward and lowering her voice in a whisper, "This place is a bit of a bore sometimes." Pulling back, she laughed. It was true, though! Aside from training, eating, and sleeping, the only thing that Eva really did that was of any interest was...well, what she was doing right now: meeting new people, or hanging out with the friends she had already made here.

"Jude," She echoed, nodding her head, "Nice to meet you! And hmmmm..." Eva's gaze slid back to his hair then, and she stared at it thoughtfully. So the reason he didn't tie it up today was because it seemed like a hassle, huh?

...

"Do you have a hair tie? I can help!" And then she stared at him expectantly, tilting her head down slightly and staring at him with wide eyes. He would let her help, wouldn't he?

"Sure, sure," Jude replied as she said she'd take him up on his offer. There was a bit of an awkward pause when she leaned forward to whisper that it was pretty boring around here and he just stared at her while his shoulders rose and fell in a light shrug, "I guess. You start to like the quiet after a while."

At least recently, before it was a bit quieter, calmer, and a little less filled with people but oh well.

The young man nodded his head murmuring, "Nice to meet you too," and then stared down at his book. It didn't seem like she was going to go anywhere making him put his book aside for the time being. When he looked back up at Eva he got the question and an expectant stare.

....What?

"Umm...Yes. In my desk in my room but why help?" He furrowed his brow, goodness she was really ... personal with him.

"Excellent!" Eva beamed, clapping her hands together as she got up to her feet. Now, er...where was Jude's room? And as for his question...

She stared down at him, careful to keep her eyes wide, head tilted at a specific angle, and tiiiiny pout on her face. "Oh, can I...can I not help? I just thought that you had such nice hair, and maybe..." Eva trailed off, and suddenly her pout deepened. "But if you'd rather I not..."

Do you ever get tired of teasing your peers?

Nope! <3 And I really am serious about helping him with his hair!

You just want to touch it!

Jude watched her and waited to see what she would do since she didn't know where his room was. A sense of amusement filled him but he didn't show it outwardly as she seemed unable to progress beyond that but soon the amusement ended and with him staring at her pouting face and the sense of guilt that most females managed to make him feel when he seemed unwilling to buckle to their wishes for at least a few seconds.

He almost had the resolve to tell her to go do something else with her time when suddenly the pout got worse and he sighed bowing his head a bit. Without getting up Jude leaned toward the door that was his and pushed it open, apparently Jude hadn't shut the door to where the latch caught making the door swing open readily showing his room to Eva's gaze.

"Desk, third drawer on the right. Got a brush and a couple of hairties in there," he mumbled softly in what almost sounded like defeat.

The pout immediately made way for a grin as Eva dropped back to her knees, throwing her arms around poor Jude in a surprise hug. "You're the best!" She exclaimed, as if he was doing her a favour...which he kind of was, in a way. Now Eva had something to do instead of being bored!

The girl left his side so that she could enter his room, heading right towards the desk and humming thoughtfully. "Third drawer on the righ--ah ha!" Her eyes lit up as she picked up the brush and slipped the hairties onto the wrist for safekeeping. Hmmhmmhm, yes, this would do nicely!

Poor Jude.

You sound as if I'm doing something bad, Eva laughed, sliding the drawer closed and heading back into the hall. She settled back down next to Jude and pat the ground. "Turn your back to me, please!"

Her enthusiasm was met with a rising of a brow but he said nothing. He was the best? Best at what? All he did was allow her to brush his hair and do whatever. He wasn't aware that he was going to be 'the best' for it.

If it made her happy though then he supposed he could deal with it for now. He leaned slightly to peek in to see if she was doing alright and when she returned he'd settled back into his original position, "All this and I have to move?" It was a little bit of a tease. At least it seemed he was in good humor.

Jude shifted himself around to where his back was facing toward her and even scooted back a bit so she could reach more easily, "Good enough?"

"Very good!" She chirped happily, setting the brush in her lap, as she ran her fingers through his hair testingly, "Thank you!" It was hard to tell if she was thanking him for turning around or for letting her play with his hair. Whatever the case, it was clear that she was quite pleased to have something fun to consume her time.

Picking up the brush, she ran it through his hair in smooth strokes, a little amused by how much nicer his hair was than hers. This didn't seem like the type of thing you should say aloud to a guy (though her actions already spoke volumes about how she felt about his hair) so she stayed quiet.

Relatively quiet, at least. Though the silence was peaceful, this seemed like a good chance to get to know one of her fellow trainees. "You woke up with the first group--the...strays--right?"

"No problem," he said not feeling the need to question why he was being thanked. He assumed that it was for the fact that he moved to where she had access to the all important hair. The fact that she seemed so enthralled by it he just knew without telling him that she apparently enjoyed his hair. He took care of it, great care of it for various reasons that probably even included his own vanity.

He settled into staring straight ahead just enjoying the feeling of someone fussing at his hair. Yes he liked it and generally he didn't allow this for just anyone. Eva had somehow managed to, on the very first meeting, get through his usual defenses and just get right to the hairplay.

Her question made an eyebrow rise but instead of nodding he said, "Yes. Though I do not know why they call us Strays. If they explained it I wasn't there at the time."

Eva may have been having a case of the sparkle-eyes right now, but unless you turned to look at her, she wasn't very obvious about it. It was clear that, while this wouldn't be very exciting for most people, the girl was (for whatever reason) having fun playing with Jude's hair. At the very least, the moon trainee could rest assured that his hair was in gentle hands.

"I have no idea," Eva chuckled, "All I know is that I've heard you guys being referred to as 'strays', while my group's known as 'hatchlings'." It was a fit title for a group of trainees who had just awoken, she supposed, but would they still be referred to as hatchlings even when (or if) another batch woke up?

...Why was she even thinking about this?

Satisfied that Jude's hair was smooth and knot-free, she began to run her fingers through it again thoughtfully. Hmmm, what to do? A braid? Maybe a low ponytail? Shifting into a kneeling position, she rest her hands on Jude's shoulder and peeked around to look at him. "What do you usually do with your hair?"

He let out a soft thoughtful, "Hmmm," in response to her answer. It was really strange that they kept calling his group The Strays. What would they call the next group? The Infants? He gave a small snort at the thought he had but did not vocalize at the moment.

Her question caught his attention again something about his hair brown eyes peeked back over at what he could see of Eva's face and he just let out another sound as if thinking, "I don't usually put gunk in my hair I just wash it and stuff...I make sure to use good quality shampoos and conditioners because..."

My girlfriend liked it when his hair looked nice and she liked playing with it..

"Because I take a lot of pride in it," he said instead of what he thought.
