Well this was a new face compared to what he was usually paired with. Then again he had noticed a huge influx in fighters. He felt calm, since he didn't see this fighter he could probably whip out a fight with no problem. Though all his senses said he didn't really want to fight someone weaker than him, he didn't have a choice. Outside the ring was different. Here though, he was bound by duty.
As the bell dinged a start he rushed forward, kicking up dirt as he charged headlong with his horns down at this other fighter. He didn't think she'd last to long in this fight, but who knew. Sometimes there were surprises.

There was a certainty that churned within her stomach, one that was eluding to the fact that today she was going to get her a** kicked. Literally. Still very much a 'greenpaw' when it came to fighting, the terra cotta hued female was now immersed within the ring for only the third time. Was it crazy that such an unknown face was fighting a veteran fighter? Hell yes it was. And there was not even a sliver of a chance in all of Akoya that'd she'd be successful. The least anyone could give her would be props for having the tenacity, even the absurd consideration, of being thrown into a situation like this.
Come hell or high water, she'd stick it out.
As the starting bell solaced, Rust bolted forward and swerved to the right in attempt to throw him off kilter---or to avoid those gnarly horns. Damn, she needed to grow something like that as, currently, she was not well equipped for dealing authentic battle damage which could be an unfortunate issue.

Her owner was brave to put her in the ring and she was even braver to face off with him. The male didn't want to disappoint the audience though. Fighting it what he lived for, trained for. He was sure to applaud her though. At the end of this, he'd want to get acquainted with this rust colored mokai.
As the male ran headlong he didn't feel anything as she moved away from him, so he dug his paws into the ground to slow him before leaping at her like a coiled spring. Jowls open as he dove to get his teeth into anything. Human cheering baiting him.

Perhaps it was the insanity of such a thing, the unlikely rationality, which had haphazardly led Rust to find herself within the ring paired up against a seasoned veteran. Yet, on the other paw, it were these experiences which would only fuel her motivation and reckless drive to plunge forward on the plight to success. Hell, this was the perfect way to see how the more experienced fighters performed as well as to study their methods and movement within the ring. If anything, Rust was strung out on striving for success. And, like most things in life, sometimes success could be found in the most unlikeliest of places.
The terra cotta hued female watched as the white male sprung forward, leaping towards her with an unbridled determination much like her own. It was sudden, straight up alarming, as she felt fangs latch onto the nape of her neck. A snarl rippled along her maw.
Rust threw her weight with a twist as she attempted to strike at his eyes---perhaps she could manage to swipe just enough to catch him off guard and allow a small snippet of time to right herself..

He gripped her hard with his fangs, driving them deep. Though when she struck his eyes he gave out a quick surprised yelp as he stumbled back, feeling blood drip down his face. He licked it up, snarling. The metallic taste spurring his anger to strike back, however he didn't want to get to hasty now.
Righting himself, Erebus took again to charging at her. Horns down as a deterrent against other attacks. To get close enough to sink those or fangs back into her and toss her about the ring.
He had to give her props though, for a greenpaw she had done him some damage. Good.

As her paw managed to make contact, her eyes widened. She--oh god, she made a hit? A surge of adrenaline seemed to rekindle anew within her veins. It was as if her body had taken a sip of something poison and was now to hold on tight; to let the concoction of determination and renewed spirits plunge her deeper into the heat of battle. Having made a successful attack, she side-stepped hastily. Her ocher eyes scrutinized him, awaiting his next plan of attack that came without hesitation.
He charged and, likewise, Rust plowed into him to meet the collision. Crashing into a head that was adorned by horns would definitely not feel good. Hell, she would be feeling this battle tomorrow, that was for damn sure. But was she suppose to cowardly avoid her opponent when he came charging? That would be rather uneventful, wouldn't it?
Moments later, the two collided.

Again she was literally blowing him away with how bold she was. Though they both took the crash he had lifted his head just barely and his horns didn't gore her all that much. A smile graced his lips. He definitely wanted to meet her after this fight was over.
Bringing his mind back to the fight, he stood up and swiped at her face like she did to him. His claws a bit longer than the normal mokai's because of that potion. Thank you Dorian. Then snarled and opened his maw wide to clasps hers in his own.

The thrust of his head upwards melded with near skillful timing that caused the female fighter to be thrown upwards and over. She could feel his his horns scrape against her side, shaving fur and gashing her just enough for a contorted expression to flash across her maw. Pain was inevitable when in the presence of horns. The equation of horns + flesh was an easy equation. It was scientific. Her body collided into the ground in a heap of fur and limbs and yet that relentless drive of hers only urged her to gather her bearings and rise up onto her paws.
She did just that. Her reaction was, admittedly, a bit slow as the blur of white was quick to take advantage of her miscalculation, her lack of attention, and raked his claws along her face. Her jowls fiercely gritted together as her hackles stood on end along her neck ad a thrumming growl rippled from her throat.
As his maw lunged towards her, Rust retaliated and plunged her entire weight into his chest.

He moved quickly, throwing his weight into his chest as she came at him. He was stronger than her in pretty much every sense and digging his paws in to ground himself also helped to take the brunt of the attack. Now she was right there. Quickly he threw his paws around her body and went to try and throw her to the dirt. As they tumbled to the dirt he went to sink his teeth into her soft neck. This would be the end of this fight, the timing was starting to come down and the cheers of the crowd were getting louder and louder.
A fight? This was a slaughter.

Was it a slaughter? That would have constituted her not putting up a hell of a fight or being KO'd at the first shot. But, from where she saw it, she was doing a damn good job at still keeping up. Wounds and losses were to be expected n a fighters career---it was quite a feat for anyone to have a perfect record although even those with a clean streak would have themselves be dethroned by the onslaught of new fighters undertaking the risks. It was an occupational hazard, so to speak.
Feeling his paws around him, Rust shifted her body weight slightly although it was futile; she felt herself be lifted upwards before her body collided onto the unforgiving ground below. With one last attempt, she kicked upwards, hoping to kick him in the jowls or somewhere in the lower abdomen region to signify that she wanted to get up.
That feeling of being controlled, let alone stagnant, was enough to send her off her rocker!

The final finish was for sure interesting as he held her down until the bell rang. Once the fight was done though he grabbed her by the scruff gently and lifted her to her feet as if she were some pup, chuckling a little.
"Good fight." He congratulated her. "You've got potential. Erebus." Holding out a paw to her, "Maybe we'll see each other again."

Rust's attempt at getting him off of her was pathetic. As the closing bell gave its shrill shriek that echoed throughout the compound, the female fighter found herself being lifted from off the ruthless ground below and onto her feet. She felt like a pup being dusted off and put back in her place although she seemed to give a lopsided grin as the other fighter rescued her from off the ground.
A sheepish smile stretched across her maw. "To you as well. Maybe someday I'll be as good as you--hopefully. I'm still getting the swing of things here."
Damn, he was a hell of a fighter. Truly she wanted to get onto his level some day and be able to compete with such ferocity. Rust was confident that the immaculate fighter surely gave others a damn good run for their titles and winning streaks.
She liked him.
Happily stretched out her paw to tap at the top of his paw before she sunk her paw low and tapped the pawpads beneath his paw and, to finish it off, pounded her paw along with the toes of his paw, Rust grinned. "I look forward to it. Names' Rust, by the way. I'm sure I"ll see you around."
