The sun had long since been eclipsed from view, the clouds hanging in the sky like a dark curtain. The rumble of thunder could be heard in the distance but so far they had been spared the quick flashes of lightening which had a tendency to blind the unsuspecting. The town was quite this day, probably having something to do with the storm. The streets that were normally quite filled were a touch empty, people preferring to stay indoors where it was warm and dry. Rain fell on and off making little pattering sounds on the roofs and gutters as it fell. It was in its own sense a melody but few stopped to listen to it.

There was a slight breeze this day which brought with it a chill, it slipped across exposed skin with long icy fingers leaving goose bumps in its wake. It was already heading into the colder months and this just made the temperature drop like mad. The trees offered little shelter from the rain as they had started losing their leaves sometime back; this also caused the streets to be littered with wet leaves making for quite the slippery surface.

All in all it was a dreary and rather desolate day, a good one to stay inside and be lazy. Of course, not everyone tended to follow the crowd and do that. Some people, some were just too stupid or perhaps too hard headed to simply stay put. No, some people just had to press their luck; just had to see if maybe they could make it through the soaked streets and pouring rain without slipping and breaking their leg. Some felt the pull of adventure buried so deep in their gut that they couldn’t stand to stay indoors not one more moment just to stay out of the rain.

Kaivieth was one of these people. He had awoken that morning to the sun slowly being eclipsed by dark clouds and where most and rolled over and gone back to bed he had jumped up and declared that today he would discover the secrets of the great library. Now not everyone understood what this entailed, as a matter of fact he was possibly the only person alive who fully understood the gravity of what he had said.

Kaiv spent the better part of the morning getting ready for his great exploration. He was still a bit childlike in his thinking as he had only graduated just a short bit ago and the real world still hadn’t seem to make its full weight known to him and there are some that are concerned it never will. But that is another matter entirely. Kaiv was sure the library had great secrets hidden in its walls if only people would look.

Kaiv entered the library a sopping mess, his hair dripping into his eyes and his clothes clinging to his lithe frame. He looked more like a drowned dog and less like an upstanding witch. He somehow managed to talk his way into the library, promising in a rather loud and obnoxious manner to not get any of the books wet. He solemnly swore he would dry out before doing anything. He made it past the front counter with a lot of ‘shhhhhing’ but that didn’t really bother him. He walked through the library examining it with a rather critical eye not that anyone could tell as he dripped past people and splattered them and their books with water. He wasn’t paying very much attention when he slipped in his own puddle of water and went tumbling into a chair and head full of blonde hair.

“Ah, terribly sorry.” He said as he rubbed his head gently, his eyes squeezed shut while he dripped all over the poor boy and the library floor.

As opposed to Kaiv, Athir was an entirely different story. On the extreme opposite side of the pendulum, in fact. He'd been one of the many who had retreated into the safety, and protection of the indoors. It wasn't a conscious comfort that he had sought out, but it was ideal than sitting in his favorite spot outside reading one of his various pieces of literature. For one, it wasn't good for one's health, and for another matter, the books would be ruined! But in truth, Athir actually quite liked the rainy day. It wasn't as dreary to him, nor as drab as most might have seen it to be. It was like a gray cloak, or blanket simply covering the day. It made him feel snug, and cozy. Perhaps that was a bit odd, but this was a fact about him. Something that most probably had no idea about. But then again... the reserved boy hardly knew anyone for someone to even know...

He'd ventured out into the city early on in the day. After finishing up the majority of his studies, having a nice breakfast, and reading a bit more of a romance novel he'd been delighting himself in, the soon-to-be graduate decided to use some of his spare time to visit the grand library. It wasn't often that he strayed from the school grounds, but... this was a sort of way to 'treat' himself. In just a few days he would no longer be staying at the academy. The uniform he wore each day would be retired, and he could join society as a full fledged witch. It was an exciting thought, one that he had to keep hidden so as not to smile too broadly. But that usual gentle smile remained in place, perhaps just a touch wider than normal. No one would notice, of course, because he hadn't any peer's that would be considered friends or even acquaintances! Not that it bothered him.... too much. He tried not to think about it. After all, he was thankful to have the strong, kind mononoke reaper Shaden as his friend. She would visit him often, and he looked up to her with great admiration. Like a big sister; not that he would say that to her. It could be considered rude. Everything he wasn't... that's what she was. The golden haired boy had always wished he were more bold, outgoing, and confident. But he was a typical wallflower who kept to himself, but was all for helping those who needed it, and engaging in conversation if so instigated. Those times were rare, and practically unheard of, though... Thus why his books had become such a big part of his life. A companion... the stories that he would get lost in...

Luckily, having traveled earlier in the day had proved to be a good omen. In arriving to the library he was able to get a small window of time where the rain was hardly even drizzling. Perhaps just a weak mist and that was all. Ergo it did no cause any sort of moisture to cling to him, or if it did, it was dry in an instant. On such days like these the library wasn't as active. There were just maybe five or six visitor's dotted about the place and one librarian. It didn't effect Athir in anyway. He had given a smile and greeting to the keeper of the library before continuing on, and found a usual place for him to settle down and get to finding some books to read. As of late that consisted of plant, anatomy, and potion type genre's. He was learning to become a medic. A healer. It seemed appropriate since his physical strength was lacking, as well as his personality. Besides, he enjoyed helping others. And he wanted to contribute his part in the world

When he had came it was around noon, but by now it was wearing on into the evening. Dinner's would be started soon, friends or family gathering to enjoy it with one another. Plenty of the other people who had been in the library had left, but others came to take their place. Athir had enjoyed himself, reading up thoroughly on the mixtures that could be made when stranded in the wild that could heal cuts, poison, fever's, and sicknesses of all sorts! It was fascinating! His eyes would flicker intently along the paragraphs, eyeing the illustrations to drill into his brain, and move onto the next, just soaking up all the given information. Eventually he finished the book, and felt on moving onto another topic. Closing, marking beforehand where he'd ended, the book, the quiet boy began to stand up from his stationed table, upright, before he was suddenly met with a heavy force pushing him back. Eyes widening, and darting to what that might be, he didn't have any time to react before falling to the ground, gasping in surprise. He tensed and winced, his head hitting the ground a little hard, making pain bleed along the back of his skull. Groggily peeling those grey gems open, vision a bit blurred, he blinked multiple times, looking up to what had caused the sudden change of events. It was wet, that was for sure... soaking, and dripping on him. He flinched as the droplets began to plop onto his face, head turning to the side to try and avoid them. It was.. a person.. Quickly, he blushed brightly, and began sitting up, "It-it's alright..." his meek little voice peeped, clearly embarrassed.. especially in the position they were in. His eyes kept veered away, too flustered to make any eye contact at the moment, "a-are.. you alright..?" he asked instead, a hand lifting to rub at the back of his own head. There'd be a welt for sure...

Kaiv gave a soft sound of discomfort as the throbbing moved on to be a dull ache in the back of his head. It was manageable but still not very pleasant. However once it was no longer a throbbing pain he was able to open those striking orange orbs to take in the sight before him. He was ever glad that the library didn’t keep overly bright lights; slowly he gave a soft gasp as he realized it was a young boy he had just pinned under him and was currently dripping all over. He quickly scurried backwards so as to give the poor child some room. He lowered his eyes and looked away a bit embarrassed.

“Yeah, I’m alright. A little ding like that would never put me out of commission.” He said softly, his voice taking on the edge of sheepish. “I really am sorry, is there anything I can help you with? Are you alright? You probably hit your head pretty hard… want me to rub it?” He asked trying in any way to make this better. He didn’t enjoy hurting others with his antics. He shook his head and offered a hand out to the other boy, to help pull him up into a sitting position when he was ready.

As he waited for the other to take his hand he began noticing minute little things. Like this boy was thin and he seemed to be quite kind as he didn’t rage at Kaiv. His eyes were a rather lovely shade of grey which went beautifully with the blonde of his hair. His hair was long, and if his eyes didn’t deceive him that was a school uniform. He had just tripped over a witchling? Oh no, that poor boy was probably put through hell and back at the academy. Not to say the academy was hard or cruel because it wasn’t but they had quite a few rules that Kaiv himself wasn’t fully able to abide by. In his wanting to take the less traveled rout he often gave the teachers hell. But all that aside, he had probably just scared the daylights out of this male. He felt quite terrible for that. “Soooo, you’re a witchling then? Sorry about getting you wet. Eh heh, it’s raining rather hard out there.” He said, looking away again in a touch of embarrassment.

His finger tips traced the area of pain on the back of his golden head, feeling a welt that would soon rise in its place. He'd have to sleep carefully tonight, resting his head on it's side rather than straight on. After a few moments of calming down, he slowly, and cautiously, allowed his eyes to venture to the man who'd caused the accident. He'd never seen him before... then again, the soon-to-be graduate didn't know that many people to begin with. But it was clear this fellow was no student. "It's really alright. Just a little bump, is all." he assured in his light voice, shifting to sit onto his bottom. His tending hand moved to stroke back some of the long tendrils, not wanting to fuss with the same area for too long, so as not to prove his words otherwise. As he began getting up on his own though, he paused, glancing up at the offered hand, that blush still lingering on his cheeks. It would be rude to decline such an offer... smiling shyly, his hand gently took to the offered, and he hoisted himself up with ease, letting go so as to gain composure of himself.

Righting his uniform a little, and brushing back a few stray strands of hair that were beginning to veil his uncovered eye, the gray orb lifted so as to make eye-contact with his new company. He looked alright. The fall didn't seem to be hurting him in any area's that were noticeable. But perhaps he was just playing it off. Either way, Athir was thankful that it hadn't been a serious incident. The embarrassment was starting to melt away the more they conversed, the blonde starting to gain a bit of comfortability with the situation. The guy didn't seem bad at all. It was a simple mistake. It could happen to anyone! His eyes did blink curiously though as the unknown man went on, smile curling to show there were no hard feelings at all, "Yep. I'm going to be graduating soon, as well." looking down at his own ensemble that was a bit damp from the collision, he glanced to the librarian's front desk, then to Kaiv, "The librarian can dry your clothes for you, if you'd like. She know's a spell that won't burn them." attention returning to said witch, the woman gave a roll of her eyes, having watched the entire episode, but gave a reluctant nod regardless; Kaiv having clearly not given the best first impression for her. But she wasn't the easiest person to get along with anywho.
