Vance pushed open the door to the seedy hotel and he eyed the floor wearily. This wasn't the sort of place he normally liked to go, in fact he wouldn't doubt that the owner rented by the hour if the price was right. His mouth curled into a sneer as he weighed whether or not he wanted his body to even touch the floor in here. It wasn't like had shoes on, no, he had to scrape a long length of his body over these poorly mopped floors. What choice did he have though? He adored Merci, though he would never outright tell her that, and she'd asked him to bring this pile of pamphlets over to a friend of hers.
Sully was perched in her usual spot. If it weren't for the fact she looked like she was on fire, one might mistake her for a part of the hat itself. Two of her little shadow like "arms" were holding onto the brim of the hat as Vance moved. All in all it was quite cozy, and much better then a pocket. It afforded her the best possible view of everything going on.
With trepidation, Vance finally moved into the room. His long scaled body scraped against the floor as he approached the front desk, and he couldn't help having a disgusted look on his face. Not that having that look was much of a stretch for him. "Excuse me." The medusa looked at the back of a marginally obese man. He looked like his hair was thinning on top, and he didn't much care for a bath. Now Vance could see why this place looked the way it did. When he didn't get a response, the medusa cleared his throat loudly and tried again. Either he was being ignored, or the greaseball was way to interested in what was displayed on a tiny television that was perched on a back counter.
Vance was not one to be brushed off so easily. With a deep breath he reached up and pulled Sully off his hat brim. He tilted his head down, and looked at her. Though it was only the impression, since his blindfold stopped one from being able to look at his eyes. "Hey firefly, go get his attention huh?" He extended his arm and laid his hand flat so she could easily move toward the hotel manager.
The wisp paused for a moment and then her fire flickered and died down. She wanted to scare this guy, and it was nice that she had permission to do it. If she did a good job, maybe she wouldn't have to go back into the hatbox! Sulfur floated quietly through the air, until she got right up next to his head. Then, in a swift movement, she flared her flames up and darted right up into his face.
Vance couldn't help himself. He laughed hysterically as the guy jerked backwards and fell right off his stool. "Maybe you should get a bell huh?"
Sully did a little spin and moved back over to Vance. With a bob she moved back up to the brim of his hat and resettled herself. Scaring people was great fun!
The tall medusa leaned himself against the counter and looked down at the guy. "Can you tell me what room Theirn is in?" His tone was cheerful now. After all he didn't get to laugh like that very often.
The manager got to his feet, and his face was red. Whether it was from the exertion, or anger was debatable. "What th... I ain't gonna tell you what room anyone's in. Privacy." He gave Vance a twisted smile and turned back to his TV.
"What do you mean, I have to give him something." His voice raised a bit, cause he got the feeling he was going to get ignored. When the fat little man didn't turn back around, Vance started to hiss a bit in anger. How dare this little mammal think he would do what he wanted. He had to give these to Theirn, he didn't have a choice in the matter. "Seriously you need to turn around and deal with me or we're going to have a problem." If he'd had a rattle on the end of his tail, it would be shaking right about now.

Theirn stalked through the small apartment, he'd been staying in the hotel for a couple weeks now and the place was starting to drive him insane. Since arriving in gaia he hadn't really found much to do when it came to free time, and although he found drinking to be a nice diversion even he realized it would cause problems in the long run at some point. Theirn was all in all restless...
Coal hovered nearby the little wisp ended up very much effected by his guardian, hovering back and forth along the television stand Coal mimicked Theirn's pacing route.
The Roma's eyes dropped down over the few items he actually owned and rested on his old carving knife. He hadn't carved in quite a few years, not since he'd parted ways from his clan, without others to carve things for the hobby had much less appeal. He'd also truthfully not stopped long often so didn't bother with carving, "lets go out...I need a few things." He didn't have much in the way of play money but a bit of sandpaper and some fallen wood would give him something to start with.
Coal spun and dashed toward his guardian the little wisp exuded happy enthusiasm to do anything but sit around the apartment.
Chuckling a little at the wisp's response Theirn opens his jacket and pulls his pocket out for Coal to ride in. "Alright...we'll get going - I didn't think it was all that bad." Theirn took an extra moment outside to make sure the door of the apartment was locked, he didn't have much but he really didn't want someone making off with the few measly possessions he'd accumulated and wasn't carrying on himself at all times.
Turning down the hall he went toward the stairs, if he took the stairs then he'd bypass the front desk and not have to run into the manager a rather slimy individual that made his senses go off on alert. Pausing near the door of the stairway he froze, he could heard muffled sounds from beyond. A quick sniff at the air made him wish he had a cigarette lit, from beyond the door the scent of grim, sex, and meth hit his senses. Someone it seemed had decided to use the stairwell for things other then escaping undetected.
Growling softly under his breath Theirn turned on his heel and moved back toward the elevators pulling his cigarette case from a pocket and lighting one of his hand rolled smokes as he walked, blowing the first bout of smoke from his nostrils hoping to wipe some of the memories of the scents from the stairwell from his mind. Once in the elevator he jabbed the button down to the lobby several times in annoyance. As the door slid open Theirn started in surprise as he caught sight of the Medusa angrily leaning over the counter. Not waiting overly long he took another drag from his cigarette before stepping out of the elevator and walking over to stand behind Vance, clearing his throat he spoke up.
"I should warn you - menacing Bill doesn't work so well. He isn't likely to pay you much attention unless you have money out or your a barely legal girl with her chest showing." Tilting his head a little Theirn's gaze flickered a moment toward Sully.

Vance was really irritated enough to pull off his blindfold and see if he could add a little class to this place with some statuary. The sound of Theirn's voice, however, totally distracted him. He turned his head toward the other man and his voice still carried the hiss of annoyance in it. "That iss the mosst odiouss man I've ever met. How do you mammalss even hold your head'ss up when you have memberss of your sspeciess like that?" He gestured toward the man that Theirn had indicated was named "Bill".
Sully inched along the brim of Vance's hat, and her fire seemed to flicker upward a bit. Her little black shadows reached out and undulated at the newcomer, as if waving hello.
The medusa turned his head toward Bill and he growled one more time, "You're lucky he showed up...." And with those parting words, Vance turned on Theirn. "I was sent by my mistress. She said she told you that she'd help you find a new place to live? Not that I blame you, this is a hole. Someone," and with that last word his voice raised a bit, "Should be ashamed of the condition of this place."
The manager was obviously very very good at ignoring people and tuning out the world, because he didn't even twitch. Vance grumbled, "Do you have somewhere we can talk? Or were you about to go somewhere?" Even if the other man did leave, he was obligated to wait around until he could show him his options. Which he wasn't looking forward too. The chances were high that if he was forced to hang out in the lobby, he'd end up arrested or worse.

Theirn shifted his gaze over to the clerk again, moving over he moved between Vance and Bill lowering his voice some as he does. "You have no idea how hard it can be sometimes." Bill at least for the moment was sitting idly but Theirn didn't want to rouse him for several reasons.
Hearing the yelling, Coal started to move around in Theirn's pocket the little wisp fought and with a little help from his guardian found his way out. Peeking over the edge of Theirn's jacket the wisp looked to the two new arrivals. Noting Sulfer the dark wisp moved up and rested as a dark spot on Theirn's shoulder observing the other at a distance.
Theirn snorted softly and started ushering Vance to the elevator, "wasn't really heading anywhere specific. We can head upstairs and talk, get out of the lobby ..." The roma frowned a bit glancing back at bill before sliding into the elevator with Vance, once inside he took another pull from his cigarette before speaking. "Bill does seem like a rather nasty bit of scum...which I'm sure he is - I'd just watch him. He is a grease ball but at times he smells of gunpowder, blood, and fear - so I would treat him as a potentially very dangerous grease ball." Theirn's voice was soft as he hit the button to send them back up.
Once they seemed settled on the elevator Coal darted up closer to Sulfer his dark aura widening and then ebbing some as he investigated the other wisp.

Vance hunched his shoulders and slithered after Theirn. He'd never really contemplated a body stocking before, but this place was kinda gross. He made sure to pull his tail completely into the elevator before the doors closed. It probably wouldn't squash it, but it would still have pinched and been uncomfortable. "I'm not too horribly worried about it. There's a reason I wear a blindfold. Not to mention Merci made us learn some form of hand to hand." Which Seraph was better at, admittedly, but Vance could hold his own.
Sully inched backward at the flare of the other's shadows. Her flames leaped up with her own curiosity as soon as she realized it was another wisp. Her blue glow was bright enough to actually improve the lighting in the elevator. Two of her own little black shadows reached out toward Coal in a greeting.
The medusa glanced at the Roma and he canted his head to the side a little bit, "You're like her aren't you? With the really good senses. I would think that it would be very difficult to pick up specific smells in a place as..." Vance trailed off and he grimaced, "Malodorous as this." He waited for the doors to slide open and moved out into the hallway beyond. His long body could be tricky in places like this, so he tried to be considerate in got out of the way quickly.
When the hat had tilted with Vance's head movement, Sully had slid a little bit. One of her shadows reached out and grabbed a hold of the hat band to steady herself on her perch.

Theirn lead Vance out of the elevator, pausing a moment the tall man kept his hand out to hold the elevator door minding the snakeman's tail. "It's not too much further in - and turst me with the smells ... sometimes you can learn things you never wish you had." Once Vance was free of the elvevator Theirn moved a few doors down and took his keys out unlocking one of several identical looking doors, pushing the door open he stepped aside to let his guest in first.
Coal attempted to circle Sully a little curiously looking over the other wisp, he reached his own little bits of shadow stuff otu toward her at the greeting and lightly brushed against her aura with his - a bit more of a greeting.
With the tipping of the hat Coal's dark aura flaired a little and the little wisp attempted to grasp ahold of Sully as if to pull her up from falling.
The differance of the apartment compared to the rest of the building was apparent very quickly. Theirn didn't have much to his name but what he did own was set away neatly, there were no food refuse or empty pizza boxes laying around. When he'd first moved in the scents left in the apartment had about driven him mad, so he'd done some work for a nearby furniture business and gotten use for their upolstery cleaner for the day. It had taken a long time as the machine had been small, but Theirn had cleaned ever inch of the carpet - it had taken the were a full day but he'd only rested when he didn't have the memories of others blood or didn't have to consider the number of people that must have rutted on the carpet to leave behind such lingering smells. The carpet was likely cleaner then it had been in years, stains were still visible and the color was long past dingy but it wasn't digusting to touch or smell. "I have a table over here, lets lay out those pamphlets."
Once the two wisps were inside Coal darted off the hat and spun, moving back a little at a time as if to spur the other wisp to follow him.

Vance moved into the apartment and his sigh was audible. If he hadn't known he would have to slither back out the way he came, he'd have asked for a shower. He took off his top hat, to be polite, and moved toward the table that was indicated to him. "Sorry about all this. Merci would have come herself, but maybe we should be glad she didn't. That man down there probably would have had a bullet hole or six in him. She's more violent then I am." The problem was, he wasn't exaggerating.
The medusa's fingers slipped into his jacket, and pulled out a small stack of pamphlets and a paper of addresses. He laid them down in the table and slid them toward Theirn "She wanted me to show these to you. You talked to her about finding a place to crash right?" Vance ignored the chairs, it was much easier for him to coil himself up near the table then try and drape himself over furniture.
Sully, happily, floated off the top hat before it was removed. The fire that surrounded her seemed to die back a little bit now that her guardian had calmed down. She also had something to distract her. The only other time she'd gotten to see another fiend her own age was at that odd gathering they'd gone to. It wasn't so long ago, but she'd liked having the chance to play a little bit.
Her shadows twisted upwards with the flames as she approached Coal. She was excited, and it showed in the way she moved. There was a vigor there that wasn't always present. The other wisp would notice, that despite the way she was flickering, there was no heat thrown off by her at all. She floated toward the other wisp, anxious to see the new place she was in. It didn't seem Vance was going to stop her, so she darted toward her potential new friend.

Theirn pulled his jacket off and hung it by the door before heading over toward the table, pausing he used his foot to move a chair up closer before pausing waiting to take a seat. "I don't really want her going out of her way for me," Theirn frowned a bit thoughtfully he didn't like the idea of how much in debt he was going to be to the kitsune and he considered making a comment about killing Bill but at the moment he really couldn't think of a good reason to not kill the man, "I hope you aren't being kept by anything important, would you like something to drink? I don't have much but I do have some beer and a filter for the water - I'd offer you milk but it turned this mornig so," the tall roma shrugs a little.
Coal darted in a tight circle as if to present the area to the other wisp, then moving quickly from side to side he darted down low to the floor and sped off. Coal heads off toward a cabinet in the kitchen, seemingly assuming that Sully will follow.
"Yeah she's been helping me out, hoping to find something fitting." He glances over the pamphlets curiously, "someplace with a very secure area or out of town might be best."

Vance coiled his body up and rested back on it. He always found it incredibly convenient that he didn't require furniture like most of the two legged creatures. Though beds were just wonderful and he would never give his up. He placed the glossy pictures and informational pages on the table. Merci was nothing if not thorough. There were several warehouses that she'd found out in Aekea, of varying sizes and price. There was one in the docks district of the Isle of Gambino too. "She said you wanted a warehouse of some sort. They are kinda far away from the shop, Durem doesn't have as many here as there are in the other cities. Not as industrial." His tone was much less annoyed now that he was actually getting his task completed.
Sully did indeed move off after Coal, she was insanely curious about this new place. It seemed that the other wisp was rather intimate with their surroundings, so she moved away from her guardian and chased after him. The odd blue glow that seemed to come from her cast odd shadows as she moved through the room.
This room was something she recognized. They made things to put in their faces here. At least that's what her snake people did. When Coal moved near the cabinets, Sully shied away from them. She didn't like to get near them, because if they were open, Vance would shut her in them sometimes.
Vance furrowed his brows and placed a few snapshots, obviously taken from a camera. "This one is different. It's not a warehouse, but it's kinda out in the middle of nowhere. It's kinda out toward where the Van Helson's live. There's a rather large forest out there, and this cabin is smack in the middle of it. Probably wouldn't have neighbors for miles." He moved the glossy photos over closer to Theirn, and with it a small paper. On it were measurements of the property, the price, the rooms, and what furniture it came equipped with already.

When Vance started in talking about the places she found and didn't seem interested in his drink offer Theirn used his boot to pull a chair to the side and sat down relaxing back. Stretching his long legs out he looked down at the variety of pictures and the information listening as he does, "I considered a warehouse at first for privacy...but the more I think of it - they aren't really all the sturdy." Frowning faintly Theirn picked up a couple of the ads and pictures, plus he realized, if he was in a warehouse he'd actually be in the city and if he got loose things could go much much worse then they might someplace else.
Coal didn't notice Sully's worry at first, the little wisp darted up into the open cabinet. Once inside Coal moved to the back of the cabinet and over and around an edge. The whole apartment building wasn't put together all that well and Coal had learned that many of the walls connected to each other - it was a bit dusty and dirty but he could get to almost anywhere in the apartments from Theirn's cabinets.
However just being a little wisp Coal didn't go very far and had only been as far as the neighbor's vent; he'd enjoyed teasing their cat that wasn't all too happy with him being there. But the little wisp learned that the experience was more then a little draining.
Coal wasn't going to harass a cat today, instead he darted down the wall and came out in the cabinets under the sink ending up under the counter that the original cabinet he'd entered was above. Pushing open the cabinet door ever so slightly the little wisp peeked out and he waited - keeping an eye on Sully he waited for the other wisp to go toward the cabinet he'd entered...intending to dart out and surprise her from behind once she did.
Theirn's attention went to the cabin finding after a moment and he picked up some of the pictures, "I'm glad she thought to check on places out of the city as well..." no neighbors sounded good, the werewolf's first thought was it would be nice to be able to run the forest instead of being trapped in a magical prison for the full moon. Being confined the last couple full moons had left him feeling antsy and a bit stressed. "How long do you think it would take to drive to this place and have a look," it didn't look too bad and from the listing it had at least some furniture, he personally wasn't all that worried about furniture...but he wanted to do things like make sure there wasn't hidden water damage or plumbing issues.

Vance leaned back over and picked up the paper again, he glanced at it and shrugged a shoulder. "I think she put this one in cause she wanted to give you some options in Durem. She said it was closer to Twilight Designs, and it would be easier to get out to you if you needed help. It's a long walk, but it shouldn't be to bad by car. If you have one we could probably be there in..." He trailed off and tilted his head to the side as if he were doing some sort of math in his head. "I think we could get out there in forty five minutes to an hour. Do you want to go look it over?"
The Medusa wasn't all the keen on going out into the middle of the forest, but he was given a task. He couldn't go home until he'd seen it completed, it was just part of what he was. "Or if you'd like I can tell Merci this is more what you're looking for, and I can come back with some other offers and options. She wasn't sure you'd want to be in the Durem area. She wanted me to remind you that Durem has a lot of Vampires and dark elves in and around it." He was pretty sure he was going to end up driving out into the middle of nowhere. It wouldn't matter to much, though if it got too late he'd have to see if Theirn would take him and Sulfur back to the estate.
Sulfur paused for a moment and then seemed to brighten a bit. Her flames shot up as she tried to throw some light into the dark space in the cabinet. Her confusion at not sensing Coal was palpable enough it traveled up her bond with Vance. She floated closer to the opening and her little shadows reached over to touch the lip of the opening and steady herself as she searched for him.
Vance shot an irritated look toward the kitchen. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he didn't like that he could feel things from the stone. He had a feeling it was something that would just get stronger with age.

Theirn looked up toward Vance listening a moment, "Lets head out - and dark elves and vampires don't worry me. There are more frightening things in the forest sometimes." Standing he rolled his shoulders glancing around. "I have a truck, and I haven't eaten for a while - mind if we stop and grab something on the way?"
Coal darted out from under the counter, and moved full tilt up toward Sulfur, spreading his dark little aura he wrapped dark tendrils around Sulfur. The little wisp rippled in amusement at the surprise.
Theirn canted his head to the side following Vance's gaze to the kitchen, "the little ones seem to be playing."

Vance uncoiled his body slowly as he made his way toward the front door. "I don't mind. I've eaten already, you pretty much can't help it with Seraph around." The medusa turned his head back toward Theirn and he paused a moment. "Do you mind if I ask you a question?" He waited a moment and tried to decide how to word what he was going to say. For some reason most of the people that had these Fiends really seemed to like them. "How did you get your rock?"
Sully's fire nearly extinguished in her surprise, but when she ascertained that she wasn't in danger they merrily leaped back to life. Her own shadows moved from the lip of the cabinet to twine with Coals. There must be secret passages or holes all over the place if he could sneak around behind her!
She was just about to brave the darkness, when Sulfur felt Vance start moving away from her. Her little flames dimmed as she pulled herself free of Coal and darted back out of the kitchen and toward her Guardian.
The snake man caught sight of Sully only a moment before she lit upon his hat band. "I hope you don't mind me asking. I'm just curious to see how many people saddled with these things actually volunteered for the job." He wasn't exactly empathetic toward his wisps 'feelings', but to be fair he wasn't entirely sure she had them yet.

Theirn moved to a crate he'd been using as a table and picked his truck keys up, "we'll take the truck - the back should be alright for you, right? As for food there is a place with a hot ham and cheese sandwich on sale, I'll grab a few of those." He was trying to think thrifty since he did want to get out of this place, but feeding a lycan tended to be expensive, since his metabolism demanded more to eat.
Coal turned as well, he could feel Theirn moving around as well but the man hadn't left the little apartment yet. Seeing Sully start off though Coal followed along behind her.
"Coal, I found him. I didn't think he'd be able to follow me here either...but he did. I actually found him on a coal car," Looking over Theirn watched the two wisps start toward them. "Lets get going then," Theirn pulls his bomber jacket on and holds the side open waiting for Coal to dart inside of it. "A coincidental meeting."
Seeing Theirn prepare to go sped the wisp along, hurrying Coal dove for the jacket settling in and waiting to get going.

Vance furrowed his brows, the blindfold over his eyes wrinkling a bit with the gesture. "I thought that weird shopkeeper gave them away. I got mine through a terrible practical joke. Merci thought it would be funny to scare me with a stone and tell me it was a wisp. She managed to actually grab a stone that was a wisp though." He adjusted his hat so it was more firmly situated on his head as he slithered toward the door. "Now I'm pretty much stuck with her. Did you know what you were in for?" He didn't know why he was so curious, but he was. Merci was actually going out of her way to help this guy and he had no idea why.
Sully wobbled a little bit when her guardian started to move. Her little fires flickered as her smoke-like tendrils reached out and grabbed a hold of the hatband. When she was safely anchored, the tiny flames seemed to dance in annoyance.
Vance slithered through the door and sneered with distaste at the poorly maintained apartment building. He'd always heard of slum lords, but he suspected this place was run by one. "I'll be comfortable in the back of your truck I'm sure. Would you mind keeping my hat inside the cab? I would hate to lose it. It's so hard to find authentic vintage top hats these days."
