Bix backed away from Evie now that they were ready to spar. He jostled his bow in his hand a few times to make sure he had a good grip. "Eenie Meenie.." He was pointing back and forth between the two of them, deciding who would go first. (( Rolling for Initiative ))

Eva grinned at the method he decided to use, but she didn't protest. If it worked, than that was all that mattered. When it was decided that he would make the first move, she raised Chara and readied herself to try defending or dodging out of the way.
"Ready when you are! Remember--land a hit, ask a question!" She was, fortunately, not too nervous about that part. There wasn't really anything that she was hiding, after all!

"Oh right.." Bix laughed because he'd forgotten about that. "On guard!"
He started hopping in place and then started to run around her slowly. He was challenging himself, hoping to master his 'running-firing' thing that he was working on. He started out slow, drawing an energy arrow across his bow and firing on her.
His arrow hit the ground near her feet though and he laughed a little. "Just shaking you up a bit." He also couldn't think of a question right now, so he'd let her attack him first.

"Eep!"
Eva emitted a sudden squeak as the arrow was shot near her feet, and she hopped back a few steps. "That's...probably a good idea. I've, uh, never been attacked before, so I've got to learn."
And now it was her turn to go. Grip tightening around Chara, she slipped forward and swung the staff out, blunt-side up, but it just grazed the other trainee. Still, she had hit him!

"Before here? Cause there's not a lot to do here, just a warning." Bix attempted to dodge her hit but ended up grazed by her attack. "I like comic books. I brought some with me actually. And video games and movies.. a lot of things related to the internet. Kind of a nerd."
He hopped back, attempting to strafe to the side. And fire on her again. His arrows struck her shoulder and chest, sticking into her and then dissolving. It was her first real taste of what a FEAR shield could do. She would feel something, but while it was strong it was barely pain and there were no marks.
He realized that he got a question as well. "My turn right? Before you ended up here.. what did you want to be?" Doctor, Lawyer, fireman?

She flinched when the arrow struck her, eyes wide as she waited for the stunning pain that never came. It hurt, but not nearly as much as she expected considering she had just been shot. Eva touched her shoulder, and then looked up at Bix as if he was some kind of wizard in awe. "...That's the shield, I'm assuming?"
A somewhat embarrassed grin spread over her face at Bix's question. "Secretly? A ghost-buster or monster-hunter--wanted to do something about those shadows all my life--but I was studying nursing before I got pulled into this."
It was her turn to strike now. Closing the distance between them, she swung her staff up and around, aiming for his side. When she felt the land hit, she immediately drew back, eyes wide. That was kind of a heavy hit--for her, at least. "...Your...your shield is up, right?" God, this was going to take her a while until she got used to hitting people.

Bix was knocked to the side when she hit him and he hopped backwards, running a short distance to fire at her in retaliation. He let loose several arrows, hitting her in her limbs.
"Unless you are passed out on the ground, your shield be up." Bix nodded. "One of the instructors stabbed Gale right in front of us. He didn't even feel it." Bix smirked.
"I played mostly anything for Xbox.. on my computer I mostly played fantasy games like Dungeons and Dragons video games? World of Warcraft. CRAP You think they are still drawing for that out of my bank account?" He looked suddenly concerned but then just laughed since it didn't matter.
"So you should be loving this." If she wanted to be a ghost hunter. "So if your a nurse you can patch us all up hmm? Oh wait that's not my question.. ummm.." Bix's eyes looked side to side. "Did you have a boyfriend at home?" He figured if it was serious you wouldn't leave someone behind... but that was just him.

"Nice aim!" She complimented, Chara's blade cutting through the air as she swung it down at Bix again. At least she seemed to be getting a little bit better at this attacking thing (though defending and dodging, not so much).
She was glad to hear the information about the shield, but Gale getting attacked? The young woman's lips immediately pulled down into a deep frown at that. She hardly knew the younger hunter, but she liked him. "I think he mentioned it. Ugh, poor Gale--the superiors here are really..." Eva wasn't even sure how to finish that sentence, to be honest, so she just trailed off.
"Oh! Heard of those, but never got around to trying them out! They're addictive though, from what I heard." Grinning, she lifted a hand to point at herself, "To be honest, I played a lot of horror games. I think I just wanted to desensitize myself of scary things as much as possible." And it had worked...kind of. At least, she wasn't scared of scary things on a screen anymore.
The questions earned a laugh, and she shook her head. "I haven't been here long enough to judge, and the answer to a boyfriend is no." She made a face, "My town was gossip central, and apparently seeing things isn't the most attractive trait to have. If it's not too personal, what was your town like? Do you miss it?" She supposed that that was two questions, but oh well.Quote: HP: 27 / 40

"You and Cass would get along." Bix laughed. "She likes horror games too. I never played them much because..." He looked to the side guiltily. "When things pop out I ALWAYS jump. Never fail." And that was appeal of most of those games.
Bix watched as Eva's weapon charged, the gem glowing on the end. Every weapon had some sort of runes on it somewhere. In the case of Bix's you could only see them if the weapon was charged. He wondered if a closer look at her staff-thing would reveal some runes.
"You should be charged now.." He nodded, still one hit away. "Try to hit me!" It didn't dawn on him that her move would be anything but an attack. He started to run around her in a circle, firing on her again.
His arrow grazed her cheek as he finally answered her question. "My town was okay. After I went to college I was only there in the summer. I liked the city better I guess. But.. we did live in the boonies. No neighbors close by and lots of trees and fields. I miss my truck." He chuckled.
With his barely there hit he was entitled to another question. "What are you really looking for here?"

Cass, huh? She would definitely have to meet this girl sometime, then! She stored this away in her mind, her attention jerking towards her weapon when Bix called it to her attention that Chara was charged. She took in the glowing crystal, and then her gaze slid a little lower, noting the runes that ran down the staff. "...My, those hadn't been there before." She noted, running her fingers along them, "Chara? Why so quiet?"
It took her a moment to realize that her mind wasn't as silent as she thought it was--when she listened carefully, she realized that Chara seemed to be humming. Chara?
The humming stopped. So this is what it feels like. It's... A pause, ...Nevermind.
She looked back up at Bix, smiling at his description of his town. And then at his question...
Her smile faltered as something flickered over her face, but almost just as quickly, it was gone and she was grinning again. "Haha, a place to belong, I guess! A-anyways!" She was quick to turn her attention back to Chara. Her brows knit together as she eyed the glowing crystal curiously. Just what kind of attack was this going to be?
I think...Eva? Touch the crystal.
What? Chara, that's kind of an awkward requ-- She cut herself off when she heard her weapon sigh impatiently. Eva lowered the staff, hand hovering over the crystal briefly before she obediently rested her hand on the crystal.
At once, there was a strange tingling sensation that spread from her fingers, rushing through her veins and throughout her body in a matter of seconds. Flinching, Eva jerked her hand back in shock, eyes wide. "G-geez, Chara! What on earth was--?!"Quote: HP: 40 / 40

Bix blinked, pausing as she used her charge. It didn't hurt him, he even checked himself over with his hands.
"You umm..." He squinted at her. "You are kinda glowy.. not in a weird way but you don't look as tired." No damage and she was looking better? Common sense led him to an obvious conclusion.
"Was that a healing move?" He kind of gaped. Maybe to her it seemed normal but he hadn't seen a healing move yet. "That's awesome!! But maybe you should have saved it." His eyes narrowed playfully.
"My charge is ready now." He kneeled and aimed his arrow above her head. If she was fully restored than he had to try and even the playing field with this attack. He let the arrow fly and above her head there was a flash as it split apart and many smaller arrows rained down above her.

If Eva wanted to dwell on the fact that she had just used a healing move, she wasn't given the chance when Bix suddenly attacked. Despite that having arrows raining down on her was not exactly fun, the girl was laughing, trying to her best to dodge some of the arrows. So much for healing herself! "If I knew what the move was, I would have saved it!" She called back, swinging the blade at her sparring partner but missing.
Drawing back, she flipped the staff back around and eyed the crystal sitting atop her weapon with a sigh. "I spent a couple of years studying hard to get into nursing school and now I can magically heal people?" Funny how that worked out.
"Hey Bix? What did you want to be before you got here?" Okay, so she hadn't landed a hit, but the talk about occupations made her curious. Quote: HP: 30 / 40

Bix smirked as he hopped to the side of her blade. He jogged backwards but he panted slightly. His endurance was spotty. Taking a minute to breath he did a standard stationary attack shot but the wind picked up and it whizzed over her head.
"Hey.. you didn't land a hit." He let loose his arrow. "But.. umm well I don't know. I was in college for English. But that's kind of an aimless major. I was always good in school.. all subjects." His own self imposed pressure mixed with a bit of his dad's. "If playing video games and watching anime could be a major than I wanted that job."
He tried to move again, jogging in place a bit. "I would have probably just ended up behind some desk living in an apartment with a small, unmanry dog."

Eva laughed, running one of her gloves hands through her hair. "Aw, I don't know about the desk thing. You sound like you could have been whatever you wanted to be, Bix." If he was a good student, then there would have been a lot of different paths for him to take, she figured. The only question was if he wanted to take those paths. "And an unmanry dog, huh? What kind of unmanry dog?"
She tried to imagine Bix with a poodle and, despite herself, she couldn't help but giggle. Eva had unfortunately chosen the same time to attempt to land another hit. Needless to say, it didn't work.Quote: HP: 30 / 40

"Yeah that's what they tell you in school but then you grow up with no real goals." He really hadn't had any. His highest hope was to get ANY job that he could do well at and have somewhere to live.
"A pug? Maybe a corgi.. or one of those tiny dobermans that aren't any bigger than a chihuahua." Bix shrugged. Dogs weren't even a consideration now. That SUCKED. Hopefully he could go to the real world every once in a while and pet some dogs because those minipet things were terrifying.
Bix fired off another shot, hitting her in the shoulder. "Have you seen the minipets?"
