Devin had began to trust her a little more lately, and had began to let her out for short periods every day. She'd never done anything to warrant his mistrust, and she didn't plan to, so it only made sense that she should get a little freedom to wander as she wished.
Senna wasn't quite like Seven though. She wasn't as friendly and outgoing and overwhelmingly social. She much preferred to keep to herself and wallow in her own insecurities - kind of like Kid, she supposed, but then... Kid wasn't quite the same either. He didn't lack confidence, he just lacked tolerance for excessive attention.
Senna lacked confidence. Big time. She knew that, Devin knew that... everyone knew that, but unfortunately they had yet to find a cure for it. She wished she could figure out just what exactly was wrong with her, why she couldn't figure out how to fight like she was supposed to. Getting booed out of the pit wasn't something Senna particularly looked forward to, but that seemed to be the trajectory that she was on.
Maybe she just wasn't meant to be a fighter after all. She had heard stories before of other subspecies of Mokai turning up in pure bloodlines. What if she was one of those? What if she was secretly a pet or a pearldiver or, worse still, a cull without anybody realizing it?
The striped Mokai sighed and shook her head. Who was she kidding.

It had become such a nice day to go out for a swim at the fjords, the sleek dark Mokai having left her guide to wander around the pearl diver's location to just . . enjoy herself. Living with Kearn could be hectic - wake up with her hair in the wrong place and it would be hours before she clawed herself out of his grasps, usually with him worse for wear; and her attitude soured.
But today was not one of those days, and lounging on her back, she let the sun's rays soak up in to her belly as she waded on her back, eyes closed but ears alert for any sounds around her. It didn't take long for the serenity to break though, as the sound of another's paw falls came around her little cove, the sands shifting outside the water and resounding in her head; the vibrations feeling like the world shifting a little.
Opening her eyes up, she leaned back slightly, smoldering ember coloured eyes searching for the body who was upsetting her waters. When she caught sight of the striped Mokai drooping around the shore, she rolled on to her stomach, watching carefully as her fins sliced the waters behind her.
"Oh, hello~ What has you so down?" she murmured after a moment, her curiousity cutting in to her like a knife. She had to know, the feeling of a lazy day cut by her insatiable appetite for knowledge.
