This was so exciting. Jove had only been in one other battle before, before the field trip, and it was with a boil he hadn't known very well at the time. Sparring with a friend, now this was going to be even better! And he looked up to Tybalt as an older (and bigger) ghost, with presumably more experience. After all, the black dog grew up with others like himself, learning to play fight and wrestle, and even how to be frightening.
The little pup was ready to try this whole play fight thing now, and the moment he was let into the gymnasium he dashed to one end. Then he growled a little and bared his tiny, sharp teeth to signal his readiness. His fluff did a good job hiding all his injuries, and he only slightly favoured his left side as he pranced happily on the spot, practically vibrating with excitement.

This was the second time he had come to the Thunderdome. The first time he had been called here was to fight against Ren... Without his knowledge. Which to be honest, had really rubbed the black dog the wrong way. Then again, the two of them were always at each others throats regardless of the situation. Maybe they were just born to hate each other? This time however, he hadn't been pushed into it. This time they were sparring simply for the sake of improving. Which, for Tybalt was a lot better.
Yawning, he moved further into the arena and gave a good look, taking in the surroundings before the battle actually begun.
The fact that Jove was excited for it also made the black dog a little eager for battle. He had never seen the little wisp fight before---aside from throwing boots. Which didn't really count. Now? Now he got to witness his skills first hand.
"Let's start this then, shall we?"

Tybalt took the initiative, lunging forward at Jove with a snarl. His large form massive in comparison to the tiny wisp. Which---fortunately for Jove, must have saved him since the black dog all but missed.
He clipped him though, he knew he had and probably with one of his heavy paws.
"Heh, this might be trickier than I first thought." He wasn't used to fighting targets this small. In fact, other than those little Joy filled plaid elephants back during the Christmas town raid, he had never before fought someone this small.
Well, this would prove to be an interesting battle.

When Tybalt leaped forward, the little pup eagerly did the same, and it was indeed one of those large paws that scored the first blow. Jove could feel it, grazing his tender side in a way that might not have hurt in the slightest had he not been going into the fight pre-wounded. But it was easy for the little pup to dart between the black dog's legs, away from the threat of teeth and claws.
And then he had an opening! The little pup was determined to make it a tricky battle, using his little teeth on one of four very easy targets surrounding him.

Tybalt yelped when the sharp little teeth sunk into his hind leg, causing him to lift his hind foot and accidentally step on the small wisp. It wasn't an intentional move, but they were in a 'battle' so he wasn't going to apologize for it either.
"Damn Jove, what are you packing in that little maw of yours? Needles?" He gave a chuckle and darted around to face him again. This time putting space between the two of them.

Jove yipped as Tybalt stepped on his fluffy tail, part of it dissolving into wisps of ghostly essence as the pup pulled away. Not that he was whining or crying that it hurt! He was just surprised!
The pup bared his sharp teeth in a canine grin, and they were, for the most part, exactly what Tybalt accused them of being. There were more than a couple broken off, or knocked out on the left of his muzzle, but what remained were more than functional enough!
Using his size to his advantage, he zipped straight towards the larger ghost, and once again chomped a back leg.

Tybalt felt the teeth sink in for a second time and growled lowly. Not out of anger, but in frustration. His legs were going to ache for weeks thanks to the little needle like teeth that kept latching onto him--and he was still having troubles landing hits on the tiny wisp!
How do you attack someone so small!?
He stopped, as an idea popped into his head.
Ah, it was really too easy now that he thought about it.
With a wide grin, the black dog sat on the tiny wisp--before he could make any escape attempts.

Ouch! Jove wheezed dramatically as Tybalt flopped his rear end down. Okay, so he would have to try another tactic, getting under the black dog was a recipe for disaster.
But first... he had to get Tybalt off him!
Jove scratched at the ground, making a little whiny growling noise, and was unable to dislodge himself. So he did the best thing possible. He readied those little teeth once more, and chomped on the larger ghost's tail.

Tybalt continued to sit on him, refusing to move as he squirmed around trying to get out from under him. That was until Jove had sunk all those needle like teeth into his tail; launching the black dog off the ground and back onto his feet, resulting in a free wisp.
Ah Jack damn it! He should have expected that!
Cursing lightly under his breath, he rushed at the pup, this time snapping his jaws at him in a snarl.

Jove tried to jump out of the way, but Tybalt moved faster than he anticipated. The little pup found himself caught up in those large jaws, teeth digging into his tender belly. He squirmed, but it was impossible to wiggle free.
With a whine he clawed uselessly at Tybalt's lips with his back legs.

Tybalt almost chuckled as the wisp gnawed at his gums, amused by this attack. If anything, Jove's feeble attempts did nothing but tickle the black dog. In fact, it tickled to the point that he had to spit the little wisp back onto the ground to make it stop. Which, to Tybalt's amusement, he found that Jove bounced like a little toy when he made contact.
"Come on Jove, on your feet!" He laughed, ready to strike when necessary.

When Jove hit the ground and bounced, that hurt less than his pride. He had just been picked up. In Tybalt's mouth. And he had been mostly helpless!
His little face screwed up into a determined frown, and he rolled onto his feet. Then he growled, and leaped forward, with a perfect trajectory to latch onto Tybalt's neck with those sharp teeth. It was an excellent jump, although it left him dangling with all four feet in the air, growling as fiercely as possible around his mouthful of black fur.

Tybalt moved too late to dodge, as the little wisp launched himself off the ground and in one determined leap and latched onto his throat.
At first all the black dog could do was blink in mild shock, but then, then he felt those darned little needle like teeth sink in, as Jove tore at him. It hurt more than he cared for, so the first thing he did was roll; squishing the pup against the ground in an attempt to knock him loose. Not hard enough to seriously hurt him, but enough to get him off.

Jove made more muffled, irritated noises as Tybalt began to roll. It was hard to keep a grip even with his sharp teeth, and he felt himself slowly slipping off as he was squished and rolled. He had to do something, or he'd be back at the mercy of Tybalt's giant feet and jaws!
The pup growled, his opponent's movements causing a small cloud of mushroom spores to dislodge from his fur. On a good day it would have at least set Tybalt to coughing, but unfortunately the pair of them just rolled out of it's radius before there was an effect.
Finally the pup slipped off, bouncing one before landing right on his feet.

Tybalt hadn't even noticed the spores. In fact, he was so absorbed on trying to get the pup off of his throat, that he rolled clear out of the way before he even saw it, only to find that Jove was still latched on, but barely. So despite the fact that he was almost off, Tybalt concentrated his Fear until sparks flew about his body; ready for the discharge.
He was definitely going to regret this later..!
The two bolts of lightning tore through the air in a loud thunderous roar, striking at where the little pup had previously been. Unfortunately, because the target had already slipped off, Tybalt succeeded in zapping only himself.
"Sonuva--! They don't call it gamblers chance for nothing..!" He hissed, rolling onto his feet, sparks still flying about his body wildly.
